Chapter 9

Mrs. St. Clair spent two months in the hospital, slowly having her bandages removed. Her face was even more horrifying than mine in my past life, as if it had been dissolved by acid, without a single unscarred spot.

I went to visit her at the hospital again, carrying some things, planning to give her a surprise.

After this incident, she had finally seen through the true nature of her daughter and Fintan, and her attitude towards me had somewhat improved.

I sat by her bedside, peeling an apple for her. She turned her head to the side, not wanting me to see her face.

"Auntie, we still need to look forward. Although Fintan won't be punished, he'll get his comeuppance eventually."

Mrs. St. Clair suddenly turned her head to look at me. "What do you mean? Aren't the police handling this case?"

"You don't know?"

"Of course I don't know! The police haven't contacted me these past few days. What's going on?"
