Chapter 10: A Dangerous Game
The atmosphere in the room was already chaotic enough. People were still trying to process the fact that some random, sharp-tongued stranger had just effortlessly guilt-tripped an entire show into letting him stay.
But before anyone could regain their composure, Long Wei suddenly moved.
He leaned in, his sharp black eyes locked onto Xia Yang's with an unreadable glint.
A small, almost lazy smile tugged at his lips as he spoke in a low, smooth voice.
"Why don't I take care of you?"
The entire room collectively sucked in a breath.
What?!
The silence that followed was deafening.
The cameras zoomed in. The staff members forgot how to breathe. The celebrities sitting nearby had varying expressions of shock, disbelief, and sheer horror.
The livestream chat was on fire.
[User: WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK DID I JUST HEAR??]
[User: HELLO??? LONG WEI VOLUNTEERING TO HELP SOMEONE??]
[User: ARE WE IN AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE??]
[User: WHO IS THIS GUY AND WHY DOES LONG WEI CARE ABOUT HIM??]
Xia Yang, however, barely reacted.
Instead, he narrowed his eyes, clearly unimpressed by Long Wei's sudden offer. His gaze flickered over the man's face, as if assessing him, before he clicked his tongue.
"Naah," he said lazily, leaning back slightly. "I'm afraid I'll pounce on you."
The reaction was instant.
Several gasps echoed in the room. A few people choked on air. One of the hosts almost dropped their cue cards.
A celebrity sitting nearby physically leaned away, their brain short-circuiting. "Did… did he just say that?
The livestream chat went insane.
[User: ??????]
[User: EXCUSE ME SIR.]
[User: DID THIS DUDE JUST SAY HE'D POUNCE ON LONG WEI??]
[User: SIR THAT IS THE KING OF SHOWBIZ YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.]
[User: HE SAID IT SO CASUALLY TOO WTF.]
The people around them were already struggling to process what just happened, but what made it even worse was Long Wei's reaction.
Because instead of looking annoyed, shocked, or even offended—
He just smirked.
It was subtle. Just a small upward tilt of his lips, a slight glint in his usually cold eyes. But it was there.
And that was enough to make the room explode into chaos.
"Did… did Long Wei just smile again??"
"What the fuck is happening today?"
"IS HE ENJOYING THIS??"
The livestream chat was incoherent.
[User: LONG WEI IS SMILING AGAIN I CAN'T BREATHE]
[User: NOT HIM LOOKING AMUSED WTF]
[User: I FEEL LIKE I'M WATCHING A SLOW-BURN ENEMIES-TO-LOVERS PLOT UNFOLD IN REAL TIME]
[User: NO BC WHAT IF HE REALLY POUNCES LATER LMAOOO]
[User: FORESHADOWING. THIS IS FORESHADOWING.]
Meanwhile, Xia Yang remained oblivious to just how true his words would soon become
