Chapter 5: The Vampire’s Power

Crack!

Before Ping Yuan could finish his threat, a slap exploded across his face with such force that his 180cm frame flew backward like a ragdoll.

No one saw Lin Fan move—not even Lin Fan himself. He stared at his palms, pulse racing. Is this the power of being a vampire's thrall? A wild grin spread across his face as primal energy surged through his veins.

With this strength, why fear Wang Chong's thugs? Why let anyone threaten me or Xu Ling again?

"You little shit!" Ping Yuan scrambled up, cheek swollen. "Break his legs!"

The gangsters hesitated. Their leader had been sent flying by a teenager in a school uniform—this wasn't normal. But loyalty (or fear) drove them forward. Two grabbed wooden stools, swinging wildly.

Lin Fan's body moved before his mind caught up. He lunged, slapping the stools aside like cardboard. Two more cracks echoed as the thugs hit the ground, clutching their faces.

Not enough.

With a vicious kick to each man's groin, Lin Fan left them writhing. Ping Yuan paled, instinctively cupping his own crotch.

"Who the hell are you?!" he spat, backing away. "Interfering with Black Bear Gang business means death!"

"Leave. Now." Lin Fan's voice dripped frost. "Or next time, I'll make sure you never harass the Yangs again."

Ping Yuan's bravado crumbled. He dragged his whimpering crew away, shooting one last venomous glare. "This isn't over!"

At the Noodle Stall

Mr. Yang sighed. "They'll retaliate, Xiao Fan. The Black Bear Gang doesn't forgive."

Lin Fan shrugged. "Let them try. I'll kick their balls into next week."

Yunying giggled nervously, her cheeks regaining color. "Brother Lin Fan! Stop saying such… such rude things!"

He leaned closer, flashing a grin that made her heart stutter. "Can't help it. You're too cute, Little Yunying."

The girl's breath hitched. Unbeknownst to Lin Fan, his vampire-enhanced charm—a mix of danger and magnetism—wrapped around her like silk.

Mr. Yang watched them, torn. Pride warmed his chest as his daughter walked to school beside the boy who'd protected them. Yet dread lingered. What if the gang returns?

Whispers of the Night

Lin Fan didn't notice Yunying's stolen glances or how her fingers brushed his sleeve. Nor did he sense the golden eyes watching from a rooftop—Ji Yemei, her lips curved in approval.

"Not bad for a newborn thrall," she murmured. "But awakening your true power… that's just the beginning."
