Chapter 32: Race Against Death

It oozed from the silver bolt wound and soaked her palms despite the pressure she applied. His gray eyes flickered, half-open with pain, while his breaths stayed shallow and rough. She knelt beside him in the ruined barn with mud squishing under her boots as her voice rasped with desperation. "You're not dying on me, Kade. Stay with me!" Her kid kicked hard inside her as a jolt that kept her fighting, but tears spilled down her face. His leg was a torn mess from the snare with fresh blood dripping from the claw marks the Silver Kin had left. She couldn't lose him, not after hunters and wolves and those strange silver-eyed threats kept coming.
