Chapter 35: The Pack’s Retribution

Lila's hands pressed hard against Kade's chest while blood soaked her fingers from the silver bolt wounds tearing through him since his leg oozed red from the snare and his breaths stayed ragged and shallow under her grip. She knelt in the ruined barn's mud with her voice hoarse with desperation. "You're not dying on me, Kade. Hold on!" Her kid kicked fiercely inside her as a jolt that kept her fighting while tears cut through the grime on her face since her thigh throbbed where Tara had clawed her and her side stung from that hunter's graze. She wasn't losing him, not after hunters and wolves and those silver-eyed strangers kept coming like a nightmare she couldn't shake.
