Chapter 18: The Expensive Cost of Pym Particles
Entering the bedroom, Jiang Feng quickly undressed.
He tossed his smoke-scented clothes aside and took a quick shower in the bathroom.
The hot water gushing from the showerhead washed over his body, bringing him a wave of comfort.
The fatigue of the day seemed to gradually wash away with the flowing water.
Moments later—
Wrapped in a soft towel, Jiang Feng lay on the luxurious two-meter-wide bed.
He wasn't sleepy at all.
On the contrary, his eyes sparkled with excitement as he focused on his smart glasses.
The next moment, a pale blue holographic projection appeared.
"Linglong."
Jiang Feng called out softly.
A virtual girl dressed in a silver-white gown slowly appeared before him.
It was his capable assistant—Linglong.
"Master, the infiltration mission has been initially completed. I've successfully obtained information related to the Pym Particles. Please take a look," Linglong said as she floated midair, bowing gracefully to her master.
She lived up to Jiang Feng's expectations.
Like a quantum ghost swimming through a sea of data, she moved swiftly and silently.
Without alerting Pym Technologies, she had successfully breached their firewall and stolen their database records on Pym Particles.
As soon as Linglong finished speaking, an overwhelming torrent of data flooded the screen of Jiang Feng's glasses like a breached dam.
After wrapping up his Hell's Kitchen operation—
Jiang Feng's eyes had felt a bit tired.
But upon seeing this data, he was instantly reenergized like never before.
Pym Particles.
In the entire Marvel Universe, it was one of the top-tier black technologies—coveted by countless researchers yet forever out of reach.
It could shrink or enlarge objects at will without altering their mass.
In the comics, it was even powerful enough to affect cosmic-level entities.
For example, the mutant Cable—
Had once used Pym Particles to forcibly shrink Galactus to the size of a finger and fire him from a gun—just for fun.
And now—
Detailed data on the precious Pym Particles lay right before Jiang Feng's eyes.
How could he not be thrilled?
"Well done, Linglong. You're exactly the kind of talent I need."
With that, Jiang Feng eagerly began reviewing the information.
His eyes never left the screen, determined not to miss a single detail.
"Thank you for the praise, Master!"
Linglong was visibly pleased, her projection showing a human-like smile of joy.
As a professional mechanic—
Jiang Feng had already mastered many advanced technologies, with an exceptional ability to learn and astonishing intuition.
Back in Cyberpunk 2077—
When he had just arrived, he knew nothing about machinery.
But he taught himself by dismantling junk.
In Iron Man 2—
He had manually crafted a blue-quality Iron Suit within just a few days.
Because of that—
Jiang Feng had always been confident when facing new challenges like the Pym Particles.
He believed that with enough time and dedication, he could understand how Pym Particles worked.
However—
As he dove deeper into the data, Jiang Feng's brow gradually furrowed.
The complexity of Pym Particles far exceeded his imagination.
The intricate formulas and unprecedented technical theories made the Iron Suit look simple in comparison.
It completely surpassed Jiang Feng's current understanding, plunging him into deep thought.
If—
The Iron Suit was a cutting-edge product that humans could possibly develop with unlimited funding—
Then Pym Particles felt more like Prometheus stealing divine fire: dragging humanity into a domain far beyond reach.
It was truly taboo-level black technology that defied all logic.
Its absurdity was on par with gadgets from Doraemon.
Jiang Feng couldn't help but wonder:
"How exactly does Hank Pym's brain work? How did he invent something like this back in the last century?"
Now that he understood the true value of Pym Particles—
He felt that the original Ant-Man was practically a walking cheat code, even more of a genius than Tony Stark.
Staring at the dense information displayed on his glasses—
Jiang Feng realized that to truly grasp the mysteries of Pym Particles, his knowledge of mechanical prosthetics and network electronics alone would never be enough.
It was like trying to build the Tower of Babel using toy blocks—pure fantasy.
He would need to study quantum mechanics, biochemistry, dimensional theory… and many more fields—
To fill in the gaps of his knowledge.
However—
Even if Jiang Feng couldn't understand the principles behind Pym Particles right away,
That didn't mean he couldn't manufacture them.
With his vast experience in fabrication, Jiang Feng could still follow the instructions step-by-step and assemble a batch of Pym Particles.
Just like workers on an assembly line—
They might not have advanced degrees or understand the inner workings of electronic parts—
But once they've mastered the steps, they can still assemble smartphones, computers, and smartwatches.
That was undoubtedly good news.
With a nervous heart, Jiang Feng quickly skimmed through the Pym Particle data.
Soon—
He realized a second problem.
The production cost of Pym Particles was absurdly high.
Just a thumb-sized amount cost as much as an entire high-end Iron Suit.
Mass-producing Pym Particles—
Would require enough resources to build several squads of Iron Suit–armed soldiers.
"I thought Hammer's resources were sufficient… but turns out Pym Particles are even more expensive than the armor."
Jiang Feng let out a bitter laugh.
He temporarily put down his smart glasses, revealing his sealed-away handsome face.
The assets in his backpack—
Were nothing but a drop in the ocean compared to these astronomical costs.
Even draining Hammer Industries dry wouldn't be enough.
Jiang Feng wasn't Thanos.
That cosmic overlord could tap into the resources of countless planets and easily replicate Pym Particles.
But Jiang Feng was just a rookie Reincarnator.
Even if he sold off all his Iron Suits and liquidated everything he had harvested from Night City—
He might still only be able to afford a few thumb-sized doses of Pym Particles.
But soon—
A sharp gleam flashed in Jiang Feng's eyes.
A bold idea ignited in his heart like wildfire.
What if he could obtain Vibranium?
And then pour all his resources into crafting a single vial of Pym Particles to try enlarging the Vibranium—what would happen?
You have to understand—
Even in the Reincarnation Space, Vibranium was a top-tier forging material.
Just one gram could fetch 100 Reincarnation Points.
What did that mean?
It meant that one gram of Vibranium was worth the same rewards as killing 100 Hell's Kitchen gang members.
If he could use Pym Particles to enlarge Vibranium and increase its yield—
Then Jiang Feng wouldn't need to sell Iron Suits anymore.
He could just stay in the Reincarnation Space, sell Vibranium to earn capital, use that to buy more resources, make more Pym Particles—
Then enlarge even more Vibranium.
Repeating the cycle endlessly, he'd have nearly infinite resources—as if he'd found a cheat code in the real world.
But could this really work?
After his initial excitement faded, Jiang Feng began to doubt himself.
"This plan is way too outrageous. If rare materials could be easily mass-produced, they'd already be flooding the Reincarnation Space."
"There are veteran Reincarnators out there far stronger than me. If they had access to Pym Particles, someone must've already tried this."
After calming down—
Jiang Feng realized that the idea was far too radical, challenging the very foundation of the world's logic.
Even in a fantasy setting, it would be considered extreme.
Using Pym Particles to infinitely enlarge an object—
Especially Vibranium—what kind of result would it actually produce?
That was something Jiang Feng would have to test and verify for himself.
