The Plan

The sun was high, casting sharp shadows over the grand gates of the Gold Rank School. The towering walls gleamed with golden insignias, and the banners of the elite warriors swayed in the wind.

Varek and Vikas stood at the entrance, staring past the guards and students moving about.

They had come back.

A day had passed since Keiran ignored them. Since Silvana and Prim stopped them.

But today, they wouldn't leave without an answer.

Varek glanced at Vikas. "Are you ready?"

Vikas scoffed. "He can't ignore us forever."

And with that, they stepped through the gates.

Like clockwork, Silvana and Prim emerged from the crowd, standing in their way.

Silvana spun her spear lazily, smirking. "I see you don't listen."

Prim sighed. "Turn back. Keiran has no time for you."

Varek didn't hesitate. "Then he can say that himself."

Silvana's smirk faded. "That's not how this works."

The air grew tense. Vikas was ready to fight if needed, but before anything could happen—

A familiar figure emerged from the school's courtyard.

Keiran.

His golden robe flowed behind him, the light sword at his side glinting under the sun.

For a moment, his eyes flickered toward them.

Then, without a word, he walked past them.

Ignoring them.

Varek and Vikas followed him.

Through the city streets. Past the murmurs of onlookers. Past the rows of merchants and travelers.

Keiran didn't acknowledge them.

Didn't tell them to stop.

Didn't speak.

They walked in silence.

Only when they had left the bustling city behind, stepping onto a quiet road lined with trees, did Keiran finally stop.

He turned to face them.

His eyes were unreadable

Keiran exhaled. "Why are you here?"

Varek's expression hardened. "Where have you been?"

Keiran didn't answer.

Vikas took a step forward. "Dicio is dead."

Keiran froze.

For the first time, his composed mask cracked.

His fingers clenched around his sword.

His jaw tightened.

"...What?"

Varek's voice was quiet. "He didn't make it."

Silence.

Keiran's golden eyes darkened.

"And Knox?"

Vikas hesitated. "He… chose to live alone."

Keiran took a deep breath. His gaze flickered, his expression hard to read.

Then, just as quickly as the emotion had surfaced—

He buried it.

His face became unreadable once more.

Keiran turned away. "You shouldn't have come."

Varek narrowed his eyes. "Why?"

Keiran's voice was calm but cold. "You're ruining my plan."

Vikas frowned. "What plan?"

Keiran finally turned back to them. "I'm infiltrating the Gold Rank School."

Varek and Vikas exchanged glances.

Varek crossed his arms. "Why?"

Keiran's golden eyes were sharp. "Because something is happening here. Something bigger than all of us."

Vikas scoffed. "And you think you can handle it alone?"

Keiran looked away. "I don't need help."

A Rift Between Friends

The silence between them stretched.

Varek stepped forward. "Keiran, we're not leaving."

Keiran's gaze locked onto him.

Then—his expression hardened.

"Then I'll make you."
