3.The Celestial Lights

The air inside the dungeon was thick with an unnatural chill. Adrian felt a shiver run down his spine as he scanned the dimly lit stone corridors. The torches lining the walls flickered weakly, casting eerie shadows that danced like specters.

Lila walked beside him, her expression tense. Maya, her old acquaintance, moved ahead of them, her hands glowing faintly with magic as she checked for hidden traps. The three of them had barely caught their breath from the attack by Veul, the masked enforcer of The Veil, when the true danger of this dungeon began to reveal itself.

Seraphina, the celestial being who had saved them from Veul's ambush, walked a few steps ahead, her radiant presence dimming the surrounding darkness. Her golden eyes glowed softly in the dim light, and her ethereal silver hair seemed untouched by the grime of the underground.

"This place is ancient," Seraphina murmured, her voice filled with reverence. "It was not built by humans alone. There is old magic here—magic that should not be disturbed."

Adrian glanced at her, intrigued. "You seem to know a lot about this place."

Seraphina nodded, her expression unreadable. "I have studied the remnants of forgotten civilizations. This dungeon was once a sanctuary, but over time, greed and corruption turned it into a tomb."

Maya snorted. "Great. So we're walking into a cursed graveyard."

Lila shot her a look. "We don't have a choice. The Eclipse Amulet is here, and we can't let The Veil get their hands on it."

They continued deeper into the labyrinthine halls, the air growing heavier with each step. The stone walls were lined with strange carvings—scenes of battles, rituals, and celestial beings locked in combat with monstrous creatures.

Adrian paused, examining one of the carvings. "These creatures… they look familiar."

Seraphina stepped closer, tracing the outlines of the figures with her delicate fingers. "They are beings of the Abyss. Long ago, they tried to breach the mortal realm. They were sealed away by celestial guardians."

Maya raised an eyebrow. "And let me guess, the amulet is somehow connected to them?"

Seraphina hesitated before nodding. "The Eclipse Amulet was one of the artifacts used to suppress their influence. If it is removed from this place without the proper ritual, it could weaken the seal."

Adrian let out a low whistle. "So taking it out carelessly could unleash ancient horrors. That's just fantastic."

A deep growl echoed through the chamber, cutting off their conversation. The air grew colder, and the torches flickered wildly.

"Something's coming," Lila whispered, drawing her staff.

The ground trembled, and from the shadows emerged grotesque creatures with elongated limbs and glowing red eyes. Their jagged teeth gnashed together as they advanced, their forms barely holding shape as if made of living darkness.

"Shades," Seraphina said, her wings unfurling slightly as a golden aura surrounded her. "Creatures born from residual Abyssal energy."

Adrian cracked his knuckles, a smirk playing on his lips. "Well, looks like we have our hands full."

Maya rolled her shoulders. "Let's see if they can handle a bit of magic."

With a flick of her wrist, she sent a wave of shimmering energy crashing into the Shades, but they absorbed it, their forms rippling as they grew larger.

Lila cursed. "They're feeding off the magic!"

Seraphina stepped forward, her hand outstretched. "Then we fight without it."

A brilliant flash of light erupted from her palm, bathing the chamber in radiance. The Shades shrieked, writhing in agony before dissipating into wisps of smoke.

Maya blinked. "Okay, that was impressive."

Seraphina turned to them, her golden gaze serious. "We must be careful. The closer we get to the amulet, the stronger the resistance will be."

Adrian grinned. "Well then, let's keep moving. No turning back now."

As they pressed on, the weight of their task settled upon them. The true challenge was only beginning.
