CHAPTER ONE

BRIELLE ISABELLA DONOVAN

Waiting for the bus to get Audrey to school is a regular week day routine for our mornings. At 19, instead of being in college, I work at a restaurant which belongs to my late mother's friend. Speaking of friendships, it gets all beautiful until tragedy strikes.

After the loss of our parents to a ghastly motor accident, Audrey and I have been all alone and had each other to depend on. All relatives and friends of our parents have deserted our beings since their death.

Aunt Patricia "the sole owner of Tricia's bite" only gave me a job knowing I will take as little payment as possible. At least it could put food on our table.

Sisi! You are spacing out again; Audrey pouts

Were you saying something Rey? I asked with a bright smile.

I try the hardest to keep her young self away from our problems but with her smart nature, it is almost impossible.

I was saying that you are looking gorgeous; she smiles revealing her dimples.

You always remind sisi of how beautiful she looks daily Rey; Sisi is flattered! I stroke her cheek fondly

The loud horn of the bus alerted us of its presence as people hurry to hop on. We swiftly maneuver our way in going to the window side seat which is Rey's favourite.

It a new session Rey, don't forget to give it your best starting today afterall you can't afford to lose the scholarship; I place a kiss on the top of her head holding her close

Of course Sisi! you do not have to worry over that and we both know it; she giggles

Perfect! I grin

You said you will return to college this session Sisi; she looks up at me with those beautiful blue orbs of hers which is identical to mine.

Hmm!! You see we don't have enough for that yet but I will return to school Rey, I promise!

Ok Sisi!

Remember to wait by the gate. I will try to be early and .....

No boyfriends! She giggles completing the sentence I repeat before she gets off the bus daily.

I know Rey is only 10 but due to her high IQ, she is already in highschool and ELITE is a school for the higher society where you find all sort of relationship going on. From betrothals to engagements and hell am I going to let some kid call my baby his girlfriend. YUCK!!!!

I help her get off the bus which hurriedly speeds away as we are always the only ones getting off in this spot. I always thought I was special whenever I get off the bus with mum when I was younger as I was the only one who came on public transportation and now I get Rey feels that way too.

Have a Rosy day at work Sisi! Rey smiles giving me a hug before vanishing through the heaven high gates of Elites.

I turn right before taking on my heels hoping I am not late for work

Thirty minutes of a endless race leaves me drenched in sweat as I walk into Tricia's bite.

Good day Mark! I smile walking into the changing room. I quickly put on my uniform before rushing back to the counter of course after making sure I look super presentable.

Good morning Brielle! Mark smiles passing an order to me. Don't worry, you are just on time; he smiles brightly easing up my tensed mood

Hi Brielle! The order is up for table six, Stella smiles leaning on the counter

Ok! I will handle it...

I quickly head to the kitchen to get it as I over hear Stella and Mark whispering about how beautiful I look.

Good genes guys!!! I smile in glee

AUDREY CARLA DONOVAN

I hurriedly get into the school's heavenly gate like Sisi calls it before turning around to watch her bolt away.

She always run to work in the name of fitness but with that curvaceous shape of hers, I see no reason running.

The truth is that we are low on savings and that is why she refuses to take a cab to work.

I wish she will get off the bus at her work place so I can help her by sparing her the stress but Sisi will rather have a broken leg than let me go to school on my own.

It's been 5 years since the death of our parents and 4 years since she forfeited her scholarship so I could take the exams as no two siblings can be in Elite as scholars.

Elite is the school of the riches here in City Z and only the rich can afford it's extravagant fees though they host scholarship examinations every year and only the highest scored student gets a free scholarship through its highschool and college.

Sisi was the highest scored student when she took the exams and finished highschool 4 years ago. Our uncle only let us stay a year after our parents death before sending us out of his abode.

Sisi decided to forfeit her college scholarship so I can take the exams and get into Elite which I did while she works to feed and cater for our needs.

Everyday, I go on my knees praying for Sisi to find the one who will ease off her burden and care for her just as she has done for me all this years.
