Chapter 55 – The Ship of the Half-God Race

In the orbit of the Zerg Star, a covert federal spaceship slowly approached the surface of the Zerg Star. This spaceship was equipped with the most advanced armed system. There were more than 30 fully armed elite warriors inside, and the person leading the team was a tall middle-aged man in a black combat uniform. There was a steady and imposing manner between his brows, and his eyes were as sharp as an eagle's.

"Lin Tiance, senior executive officer," the spaceship's AI said steadily. "Identity verified. He's in charge of XX Energy's Zerg Star resource mining."

Lin Tiance stood quietly in front of the command console, scanning the topographic map of the surface of the Zerg Star on the screen. His eyes stopped at a marked flat area on the map, which was the target point of Mission Two, the special ore mining area. However, his expression was unusually calm, and there was even a hint of unease hidden in it.

"The Zerg are very active in the target area, and our people are likely to run into trouble." Lin Tiance's voice was deep and powerful. He told the adjutant beside him, "Hurry up and make sure the resource mission goes smoothly."

The adjutant nodded and immediately began to arrange the next step of the plan. Lin Tiance didn't speak anymore. His eyes shifted to other parts of the Zerg Star on the screen, especially the northern hemisphere's signal source, and he fell into thought.

...

Lin Yuan's team continued to advance towards the source of the signal. The surrounding environment became even more eerie, and the air was filled with the smell of scorch and decay. The leading officer suddenly raised his hand, signaling everyone to stop.

"There's movement ahead." The officer said in a low voice. He raised the detector and pointed to the energy fluctuations displayed on the screen, "Listen, there are sounds of a battle over there."

Everyone held their breath and pricked up their ears. Sure enough, roars and growls came from the front, along with metal-clashing sounds and the Zerg's ear-piercing screeches.

"It's the Zerg," Li Xingchen said slowly, but her tone was unusually calm, "And there are quite a few of them."

Lin Yuan's heart tightened, and he asked, "Who are the Zerg fighting with?"

Li Xingchen didn't answer. She looked in the direction of the battle, her expression slightly solemn, as if she had vaguely sensed something.

The officer scanned the battlefield ahead with the detector. Then he looked up, sounding a bit surprised. "The Zerg are attacking a forced-landed spaceship. By its energy readings, it's a Half-God Race ship."

Lin Wanqing frowned: "Why did a spaceship of the Half-God Race make a forced landing in such a place?"

A strange glint flashed in Li Xingchen's eyes. She stepped forward and said to the officer, "They might have been ambushed by the Zerg. Anyway, the Half-God Race needs help now. We can't just stand by and do nothing."

The officer hesitated. "This isn't part of our mission. Our target is the signal source..."

Li Xingchen interrupted him, "If we let the spaceship of the Half-God Race be destroyed here, not only will we lose a possible ally, but we may also incur the wrath of the Half-God Race. Moreover, the technology of the Half-God Race is likely to be helpful for us to crack the signal."

The officer still seemed a bit hesitant, but Li Xingchen continued, "We can make a quick surprise attack. We'll drive away the Zerg and then retreat immediately. This won't delay us for too long."

The officer thought briefly and nodded. "Okay, act fast. But if things go wrong, retreat right away."

The team quickly approached the battlefield. In the distance, a white-gold spaceship was surrounded by the Zerg. The surface of the spaceship was covered with scratch marks from sharp claws, and the energy shield was flickering with a faint light, on the verge of collapsing at any moment. There were quite a lot of Zerg around, and there were even two huge high-level Zerg beasts among them, frantically biting at the shield of the spaceship.

"It seems that this spaceship was forced to make an emergency landing." Li Xingchen spoke softly, eyes fixed unblinkingly on the spaceship, a hint of complex emotion in them.

"What's going on?" Lin Yuan couldn't help asking, "Do you know that spaceship?"

Li Xingchen didn't answer, just said indifferently, "Stop talking nonsense and get ready for the battle."

The officer waved his hand and signaled, "Disperse the formation. Prioritize dealing with the Zerg on the periphery! Cover the spaceship!"

The battle broke out quickly.

At the beginning, Lin Yuan's movements were still a bit clumsy. The mecha he controlled wasn't very flexible, and he was even almost knocked down by a suddenly attacking Zerg. At a critical moment, Li Xingchen's mecha leaped and swung an energy long blade, cutting the Zerg in half.

"Don't hold us back," Li Xingchen said coldly through the communication channel.

Lin Yuan gritted his teeth, concentrated, and began to adjust his control method. The eyes of his mecha flashed blue light again. His spiritual power and the mecha gradually synchronized, and his movements became smoother. Soon, he dealt with two Zerg.

At the same time, the members of the Half-God Race inside the spaceship also joined the battle. Their armor was more flexible than the federal mechas, and there was an elegant killing intent in their movements. They wielded energy weapons and easily slew the Zerg, clearly very powerful.

The Zerg were gradually repelled, and the high-level Zerg beasts were also taken care of by the Half-God Race, but the smoke of gunpowder on the battlefield hadn't dissipated yet.

The hatch of the spaceship of the Half-God Race slowly opened, and a woman in silver-white battle armor stepped out of the cabin. Her eyes swept over Lin Yuan and his group, and finally stopped on Li Xingchen. She frowned slightly: "You are..."

Li Xingchen stood straight and said coldly, "No time to chat. We must discuss some cooperation, especially about the Zerg Star signal."

The woman in silver-white armor was startled, then nodded. "We have intel to share, but need your help too."

======================
