Iruka stood by his desk, frowning as he held a blank piece of paper. As the wedding day drew nearer, he, one of Naruto's most important mentors, struggled to come up with suitable wedding congratulations. Naruto had transformed from an isolated child into a hero of the entire shinobi world. Iruka's heart was filled with emotion, yet he found it difficult to articulate his feelings.
"This is really exasperating..." Iruka sighed, placing the paper casually on the desk. Memories flooded back. The once - stubborn and lonely child had once been a weight on his shoulders. Now, Naruto had become Konoha's greatest pride.
Just then, a soft knock came from the door. Iruka was startled and hesitated briefly. Then, he made his way to the door. To his surprise, Naruto was standing right outside.
"Naruto?" Iruka asked in surprise, looking at the familiar face. "Why are you here all of a sudden? Shouldn't you be busy preparing for your wedding?"
Naruto scratched the back of his head, a sunny smile on his face as always. "Well, everything for the wedding is almost sorted. But I have a really important request. I had to come and tell you in person."
Iruka motioned for Naruto to enter. The two sat face - to - face at the table. Naruto took a deep breath. His smile vanished and his eyes grew serious. "Iruka-sensei, I'm really begging you. Will you attend the wedding as my 'father'?"
Iruka was stunned. His eyes widened. "Father...? Naruto, you..."
Naruto nodded, his eyes warm and sincere. "You were the first person to recognize me in my life. I don't know if I could have made it this far without you. Although I've never experienced a real family, in my heart, you're the one who's most like a father. So, I hope you'll be there to witness everything at the wedding."
Iruka's hands trembled involuntarily. A wave of indescribable emotion surged within him. His eyes reddened as tears threatened to spill. Nevertheless, he swallowed his emotions and assumed a stern voice. "Naruto, you always catch me off-guard like this. How can I possibly refuse?"
Naruto looked at Iruka, smiling sincerely. "So, will you?"
"...Of course." Iruka nodded, smiling gently.
...
In Konoha Village, bathed in bright sunlight, the entire village was immersed in a festive atmosphere. Naruto and Hinata's wedding was the talk of the town. Clan leaders, fellow shinobi, and representatives from other distant shinobi villages had gathered to witness the couple stepping into a happy future.
The Yamanaka family also attended in their finest. Ino, dressed in a gorgeous gown, exuded elegance. Inoichi maintained his usual serious demeanor, yet a hint of a smile lingered in his eyes. Lin Yuan was decked out in a spotless shinobi uniform. A kunai pouch hung from his shoulder, and with an easy smile, he took his place among the assembled people.
After the wedding ceremony, Lin Yuan quietly made his way to Naruto and Hinata. He handed them two uniquely - designed kunai and a small box. Naruto took the gifts, a look of confusion on his face. "Lin Yuan, what are these?"
Lin Yuan smiled and explained, "These are my special Flying Thunder God kunai. They're linked. Wherever you are, using them lets you reach each other instantly. But you can only use them three times a day. When the markings dim, put them in this box. They'll recharge in a few hours."
Naruto's eyes lit up. "This is so cool! Lin Yuan, you're a genius!"
Hinata gently took the kunai, thanking him softly. "Thank you, Lin Yuan - kun."
Lin Yuan waved his hand, a mysterious smile on his lips. "Use them well. They might come in very handy someday."
At night, the streets of Konoha were ablaze with lights. However, the courtyard of the Yamanaka household was remarkably quiet. Lin Yuan sat in his room, a pen in hand, staring down at the blank piece of paper on the desk. The voice of Jiuchong Ring echoed in his mind, calm as ever, yet stirring a complex mix of emotions within him.
"Lin Yuan, let me jog your memory. The mission's over. You've seen Naruto and Hinata tie the knot. That signals our countdown. Seven days from now, I'll whisk you out of this dimension and deposit you in the next mission world."
Lin Yuan didn't respond immediately. After a moment of silence, he placed the pen on the paper and began to write. He knew this would be the last memento he left for his family in this world. Although his identity and existence were an enigma, he didn't want to leave any regrets, especially for Ino Yamanaka, the "big sister" who had always treated him like family.
"Dear family members:
As I write this letter, my heart is filled with reluctance and gratitude. In just a few short years, I've experienced a warmth and sense of belonging like never before. Big sister Ino, Dad Inoichi, even though I was always causing trouble and bickering with Ino, I'm truly grateful that you accepted me as family. Maybe I shouldn't have hidden it from you, but I have to leave. I've got something important to do.
If you're feeling sad, read what I'm about to tell you. I'm from the future. To be precise, I was brought to this era by the Sage of the Six Paths. Why? Maybe my existence is tied to some kind of destiny. Or perhaps I'm Ino's descendant... Yes, you read that right. Maybe I'm your son. Due to some strange circumstances, I'm here in this way.
My mission was to witness the important moments of this era. Now, it's all over. I'll leave this world and head to an unknown place to continue my unfinished mission. So, this goodbye might be forever.
Big sister Ino, Dad Inoichi, and all my friends in Konoha, please take care. Wherever life takes me, your joy and contentment will always weigh heavily on my heart. Thank you for making me feel like I'm part of the family.
Finally, don't be too sad. I hope you'll think of this time as a dream. When the dream ends, life goes on. And I'll always remember.
— Lin Yuan"
Lin Yuan put down the pen and gently blew on the ink to dry it. He folded the letter, placed it in a small envelope, and left it on the desk. Before leaving the room, he took one last look around at the familiar surroundings, his gaze deep and filled with emotion.
"You're such a troublemaker. Is it really okay to deceive them like this? And this is a bit too emotional." Jiuchong Ring remarked, yet there was a tinge of understanding in its tone.
"Well, that's life. Everything has a beginning and an end. In this world, people are used to partings." Lin Yuan chuckled softly.
The night breeze blew. He walked into the courtyard, looking up at the star - filled sky and letting out a sigh. Seven days later, he would bid farewell to this place and the people who had given him so much warmth and memories. Despite being burdened by a heavy sense of reluctance, he knew that an unforeseen path stretched out before him.
"First, I'll say goodbye to Gaara and the rest... Farewell, Konoha."
===================
