"The first soul skill has such power?"
Shui Yuehua couldn't hide her shock. Lin Xiao's first soul skill wasn't just a group attack—it was comparable to some soul masters' second skills. Even more terrifying, the second part of the ability created a control effect, locking enemies in place and preventing escape.
And the Evil Fire was more than just deadly—it was persistent, clinging to its targets like a curse. Once touched by it, escape was impossible.
Typically, water-attribute soul masters restrained fire-attribute abilities, easily extinguishing flames. But Lin Xiao's Evil Fire ignored that logic. Even in water, it burned, and it didn't require oxygen.
What Shui Yuehua didn't realize, however, was that Lin Xiao's fire could burn soul power itself, absorbing enemy attacks to fuel the flame further. It was truly abnormal.
"Young man, your Evil Fire is an invincible weapon," Shui Yuehua admitted. "If I fought you at the same level, I wouldn't have any way to counter you."
"But while it's powerful, it harms both your enemies and yourself."
This was the balance of nature: power came at a price.
The Evil Fire was a double-edged sword—devastating for opponents but equally dangerous for Lin Xiao. Like Ma Hongjun, if Lin Xiao didn't vent his fire, it would eventually consume him from within.
Lin Xiao knew that his Evil Fire could evolve, just like his martial spirit. But could he pay the price?
He pushed the thought aside and looked at Shui Yuehua and Shui Bing'er.
"Grandma Shui, are you bringing Miss Bing'er to find an ice-attributed soul beast?"
Before Shui Yuehua could answer, Shui Bing'er responded cheerfully:
"Brother Lin Xiao, just call me Bing'er."
"Yes, we found a 400-year-old Ice Python, but the Fire Bird devoured it. We chased the bird all the way here."
Lin Xiao nodded thoughtfully. Ice-attributed soul beasts were rare in the Star Dou Great Forest due to its warm climate, but surely they existed in colder regions.
"What about an Ice Carp?" Lin Xiao suggested.
Shui Yuehua frowned. "That's suitable as Bing'er's first soul ring, but Ice Carp usually live deep underwater. Finding one is difficult."
"What if we fished for it?" Lin Xiao asked with a grin.
Shui Yuehua blinked, surprised by the absurdity of the suggestion, but Shui Bing'er's eyes lit up.
"Let's go fishing!"
The challenge wasn't just finding the Ice Carp—it was creating the right environment. Since they thrived in cold conditions, Lin Xiao had Shui Yuehua use her soul power to freeze the river.
After a while, Shui Yuehua sighed in frustration.
"Boy, I've drained most of my soul power, and I haven't seen a single Ice Carp."
"Be patient," Lin Xiao replied calmly. "They'll come soon."
"Why?"
"They're drawn to cold currents. Just wait and watch."
Lin Xiao's confidence stemmed from books he had read—old texts detailing how soul beasts reacted to environmental changes. If they could mimic the natural habitat, the Ice Carp would come.
"Brother Lin Xiao! I did it!"
Shui Bing'er ran toward him, holding a frozen stone in her small hands, her face glowing with joy.
"Why didn't you wrap it up? Your hands are frozen red!"
Lin Xiao took her hands, gently warming them.
Shui Bing'er's cheeks flushed as she whispered:
"My mom said if a girl is touched by a boy, she'll have a baby."
"What?" Lin Xiao asked, not quite hearing her.
"Nothing!" she squeaked, shaking her head quickly.
Lin Xiao chuckled but didn't press further. He was thinking about telling Shui Bing'er that her mother lied.
But after thinking about it, Shui Bing'er's mother was probably afraid that her precious daughter might run into someone shady, so she wanted to scare her, there was no reason to expose it in the end.
Instead, he attached the ice stone to a rope and prepared his fishing rod.
Suddenly, Shui Yuehua's excited voice rang out:
"The Ice Carp are here!"
A wave of shimmering fish surged toward them, drawn by the cold current they had created.
"Bing'er, let's go fishing!"
