Chapter 1

My husband's pure love suddenly turns to depression, and he attempts suicide by jumping off a building.

In a fit of rage, he brings me, eight months pregnant, to a free fall ride and orders someone to forcibly tie me to it.

"If it weren't for you deliberately provoking Aria, why would she have a depressive episode and jump off a building?"

Terrified of heights, I tearfully apologize to him, begging him to let me go, and promise never to appear in front of Aria again.

But he just coldly shakes his head.

"Jolene, for the sake of the child, I won't divorce you."

"But the pain you've caused Aria, I'll make you pay back a hundred, a thousand times over!"

He sets the machine to operate for an hour, then turns and leaves.

As the free fall ride keeps rising, I struggle and scream in fear.

The moment my body becomes weightless, a hot fluid gushes out of me.

Three days later, he finally remembers me, still suspended on the free fall ride.

"Jolene, Aria is fine now. If you kneel down and apologize to her right now, I'll let you down."

What he doesn't know is that the high-hanging free fall ride has long since become a river of blood, and even the child he had been eagerly awaiting has been thrown out of my body, reduced to a pulp...

"Dr. Zhang called me this morning, saying she didn't go for her prenatal check-up. What kind of trick is she trying to pull now to get my attention?"

Brent spoke with his brows furrowed tightly, a flash of disgust in his eyes.

The elderly butler beside him turned pale and spoke with a trembling voice, "Sir, it seems Mrs. Hawkins hasn't been let down yet. Moreover, she has a fear of heights. She doesn't even dare to go to the second-floor balcony usually, and now she's in late pregnancy. I hope nothing bad happens."

Hearing this, Brent's expression faltered for a moment, then he asked puzzled, "Really? Jolene has a fear of heights?"

Before the butler could finish, he waved his hand dismissively, "It's just a drop tower, not like she's actually jumping off a building. It's good for her to know fear. This way, she won't dare to bully Aria again."

Hearing this, the old butler didn't dare to say more.

However, the amusement park manager couldn't help but interject, "But three days ago, when it first started, Mrs. Hawkins was crying her heart out. Later, there wasn't a sound from her at all. She's carrying your child, that's your own flesh and blood. Don't you want to check on Mrs. Hawkins..."

Brent's expression instantly changed from understanding to contempt."I knew she was faking her fear of heights too. How else could she sit on that drop tower ride without making a sound? Jolene is as cunning and manipulative as ever. In that case, let her stay on the ride for another day. Tomorrow, we'll bring her before Aria to kneel and apologize. Then we can put this matter to rest."

With that, he waved off the supervisor's next words and headed for the bedroom.

On our marriage bed, Aria lay half-naked.

Brent approached her side gently, his Adam's apple bobbing. The next moment, he pressed his lips against her swollen ones.

The figure on the bed let out a soft moan and opened her eyes, weakly trying to push Brent away. "Brent, this is your and Jolene's marriage bed. If sister Jolene finds out, she'll be heartbroken."

"And about what happened earlier, big brother Brent, I just love you too much. I thought if I died, sister Jolene wouldn't fight with you because of me anymore. I didn't mean for you to punish her for my sake. Why don't I go apologize to sister Jolene?"

Aria bit her lower lip, looking upset and guilty.

Sure enough, seeing Aria like this, Brent couldn't hold back any longer. He set the porridge aside. Brent's large hands roughly kneaded Aria's chest as he flipped her beneath him. "Aria, you're just too kind-hearted. If it weren't for you back then, I'd have been dead long ago. Even your fear of heights was because you saved me. When I think about how someone as gentle and kind as you was driven to jump off a building by Jolene, it breaks my heart. If there's ever a next time, even if she's carrying my child, I'll make sure she pays for it with her life..."

Brent tenderly kissed the small scrapes Aria had gotten from her fall, her eyes brimming with concern and affection.
