A happily married couple in their late fifties cater for their three adult children, two of whom are sickle-cell warriors. Although aware of their clashing AS genotypes before consummating their love, the couple kept the belief alive that love surpassed all odds. Devastation befalls the family when the only AA child and family member—a 28-year-old secondborn—is diagnosed with stage IV leukaemia which eventually leads to her unfortunate demise. With the supposedly healthiest member of the family gone, how does this close-knit family pick up their pieces? What fate awaits the sickle-cell warriors?
