Into the Unknown

Leah gripped the wheel, driving slowly down the narrow path beyond the gate. The road was barely a road at all just cracked pavement swallowed by weeds, the forest pressing in on both sides.

"Alright, Leah… this is insane." She exhaled, fingers drumming against the steering wheel. "Breaking into an abandoned town? Great career move."

Silence pressed in around her. No streetlights, no houses, no signs of life. Just trees, thick and ancient, like they had been watching for centuries.

She sighed. "Hopefully, I don't end up in a horror movie."

Her headlights barely cut through the fog. Every now and then, she swore she saw shapes shifting between the trees probably just the wind, but it made her grip the wheel tighter.

"If I die, at least let it be an interesting story."

The path twisted ahead, disappearing into the mist. Leah slowed even more, eyes scanning the darkness.

Something about this place made her skin crawl.

And yet… she couldn't turn back now.
