Shout Away

"Vili!"Vélin was the first to react, shouting at Vili,"Come back!"

She didn't understand why Vili would suddenly leave the safety of the horse and run towards the center of the wolf pack.

Was it to save Vitente? But with just a long knife,he couldn't possibly change Vitente's fate.Instead,he would likely lose his own life.

By the time Caril and Lani realized what was happening,it was already too late. Both of them wore expressions of confusion.

"I'll go save him.You all keep going!"Caril swung his spear and pulled on the reins, turning his horse around.

Vitente's consciousness was already fading, but he faintly heard Vélin calling out to Vili. With great effort,he looked towards the distance and saw Vili running towards him, long knife in hand.He wanted to stop Vili, but found that he couldn't make a sound.

Everyone was filled with worry and fear for Vili's actions, yet Vili himself was calm and composed.

His earlier panic had dissipated the moment he locked onto the alpha wolf.He now felt like a seasoned hunter,as if nothing in the jungle could stand in his way.

Not only were Vélin and the others confused by Vili's actions, but the ferocious black wolves were even more bewildered. They couldn't understand why the prey that had been desperately fleeing had suddenly turned around.

In just two or three seconds,Vili had all the time he needed. His physical strength had already surpassed that of an adult by thirty percent, and with the adrenaline of life and death, his potential was fully unleashed. His speed reached its peak.

In the blink of an eye,he covered twenty to thirty meters and was right in front of the alpha wolf.

Howl...

The alpha wolf was the first to realize something was wrong. It clearly sensed that the human running towards it with a long knife seemed to be targeting it specifically.A chilling sensation spread throughout its body, and its fur bristled.

Instinctively, the alpha wolf wanted to retreat, without even considering fighting back.

"Die!"Vili wouldn't give the alpha wolf a chance to dodge.

Surrounded by the pack,he had only this one opportunity to kill the alpha wolf.If he missed it,he might truly end up buried in the Mors Forest forever.

Vili leaped forward, covering a distance of five meters in one bound. He gripped the long knife in reverse and stabbed fiercely at the alpha wolf's head.

Thud!

Vili could feel the immense impact as the knife struck the alpha wolf's skull, understanding why people often described a wolf's head as being as hard as copper.

Nevertheless,he exerted all his strength, using the momentum of his leap to drive the entire knife into the wolf's skull.

In an instant, white brain matter and red blood splattered everywhere.

"Get lost!"Vili roared, lifting the alpha wolf impaled on his long knife above his head, brandishing it at the remaining black wolves.

The alpha's blood trickled down the knife and stained Vili's clothes. For the first time,a menacing aura enveloped him.

Roar...

The remaining black wolves froze, staring at their leader who had been killed in an instant. They were at a loss, only able to let out soft growls as their ferocity waned.

Vili stood his ground, continuing to stare down the wolves.

Finally, after a few breaths, one of the black wolves gave up the attack and fled into the dark forest, quickly disappearing from sight.

Soon after,a second,a third...one by one,the black wolves abandoned the hunt and vanished into the darkness, leaving behind the barely conscious Vitente and several dead wolves.

"We're saved,"Vili muttered, discarding the long knife and the wolf to the side.He knelt on the ground, catching his breath heavily.

The series of actions had not only drained his energy but also exhausted him physically.

"We need to leave quickly;the scent of blood will attract more beasts,"Vili said after a few seconds of rest, standing up and addressing Vélin and the others."Come help me drag Vitente onto the horse."

Vélin,Lani, and Caril snapped out of their daze. What had just happened?!

Vili had leaped off the horse with his long knife, charged against the wolf pack, killed one of the black wolves with a single strike, raised it above his head, and shouted the wolves away, saving their captain,Vitente. It was incredible—Vili seemed like the protagonist of an adventure story.

Caril was the first to react, riding his horse over to Vitente, with Vélin and Lani following closely behind.

They were all shocked by how Vili had managed to do all this but held back their curiosity. This was not the time for questions.

Vitente was now covered in blood—both his own and the wolves'.At a glance, one could see several deep wounds that had penetrated to the bone.

"I'll drag him onto my horse,"Caril said, handing his spear to Lani before gently placing the unconscious Vitente on his horse.Vitente's own horse had been killed in the wolves'attack.

"Let's go,"Vili urged. In the eyes of Caril and the others,Vili had risen to a new level of respect.

The sun had completely set,and only the moonlight and twinkling stars illuminated the path through the Mors Forest.

Without stopping, the group rode through the darkness for a long distance before finding a quiet cave to rest in.

Caril gently moved Vitente from the horse and turned to Lani, saying,"Get the medicine."

Lani nodded quickly. She took out a white cloth bag from her backpack and pulled out a vial of liquid.

Caril pinched Vitente's chin to open his mouth, and Lani poured the liquid inside.

"What is that?"Vili asked.

"A potion to prevent infections from beast attacks,"Vélin explained to Vili.Vili nodded, realizing it was similar to the preventive vaccines from his previous life.

Wolves could carry rabies, and without stopping the virus's spread,it could be fatal.

Vili felt a spark of curiosity. He hadn't expected the world's alchemy to be so advanced. He definitely wanted to learn more about it in the future.

After giving Vitente the potion,Vélin took out two boxes of ointment from the white bag and began applying it to Vitente's wounds.

"His wounds are too deep. These two boxes of ointment aren't enough,"Lani said worriedly after applying the ointment. It wasn't enough to cover all of Vitente's injuries.

"We can only hope his wounds don't get worse,"Vélin said, placing her hand on her chest and murmuring a prayer.

Caril also bowed his head, muttering something silently.

After a while,Caril looked up at Vili and said,"Thanks to you this time."

Vélin and Lani also realized and expressed their gratitude to Vili.Without him, their respected captain,Vitente, would likely have been killed by the wolves.
