As Detective James's words hung in the air, Emily felt a surge of fear. What had they found? And what did it mean for her and Ryan?
"Please, Detective," Emily said, her voice shaking. "Tell us what's going on."
Detective James took a deep breath before speaking. "We've found evidence that suggests Ryan's past is not what he thought it was," she said.
Ryan's eyes widened in shock. "What do you mean?" he asked.
Detective James hesitated for a moment before speaking. "It appears that Ryan's parents were not who he thought they were," she said. "They were involved in some shady dealings, and it looks like Ryan may have been a pawn in their game."
Emily's eyes widened in shock. "What kind of dealings?" she asked.
Detective James hesitated again before speaking. "It looks like Ryan's parents were involved in a large-scale embezzlement scheme," she said. "And it appears that Ryan may have been used to help them launder money."
Ryan's face fell, and he looked like he had been punched in the gut. "No," he said, shaking his head. "That's not true."
Detective James's expression was sympathetic. "I'm sorry, Ryan," she said. "But the evidence is clear. Your parents were involved in some very shady dealings, and it looks like you may have been a part of it."
As the detective's words hung in the air, Emily felt a surge of uncertainty. What did this mean for her and Ryan? And how could she trust him now?
Ryan's eyes locked onto hers, filled with desperation. "Emily, please," he said. "You have to believe me. I didn't know anything about this. I swear."
Emily's heart was racing as she looked at Ryan. She wanted to believe him, but she didn't know if she could trust him now.
As they stood there, frozen in uncertainty, Detective James spoke up. "We need to take Ryan in for questioning," she said.
Emily's eyes widened in shock. "No," she said. "You can't do that."
Detective James's expression was firm. "I'm afraid we have to," she said. "We need to get to the bottom of this."
As the detective led Ryan away, Emily felt a surge of fear. What was going to happen to him? And how could she trust him now?
As she stood there, frozen in uncertainty, Emily knew that she had to make a decision. She had to decide whether to stand by Ryan, or to walk away.
But as she looked at Ryan, being led away by the detective, Emily knew that she couldn't walk away. She had to stand by him, no matter what.
With a newfound determination, Emily followed Ryan and the detective to the police station. She was ready to face whatever came next, as long as she had Ryan by her side.
But as they arrived at the police station, Emily saw something that made her heart skip a beat. There was a figure standing outside, watching them.
Ryan's eyes locked onto hers, filled with concern. "Do you see that?" he asked.
Emily nodded, her heart racing. "Yes, I do," she said.
As they watched, the figure turned and ran, disappearing into the crowd.
Emily's eyes locked onto Ryan's, filled with fear. "What's going on?" she asked.
Ryan's face was grim. "I don't know," he said. "But I think we're in grave danger."
