What a First mission.

Chapter 4: The Splash and the Secret Spark

"Okay, last mission, then I'm so done," Manon muttered, her brain still doing mental gymnastics after meeting Ray. School had been a chaotic mess.

Beep! Her smartwatch flashed: First Mission: Talk to Robin. Now. Her heart did a little flip-flop. Only 30 seconds until the bell rang!

8, 7, 6, 5... Ring! Everyone stampeded out. Manon slipped away to the pool. Huge, blue, and thankfully, empty.

She sat, trying to come up with something, anything, to say. But her mind was a blank page.

She stood, drawn to the water. It looked so inviting. She dipped her hand in. "Warm," she whispered. Then, thump!

She stumbled and fell into the pool! She sputtered, pushing her wet hair out of her face. "Seriously?" she muttered, turning around, a mix of annoyance and embarrassment bubbling up.

Standing there was Robin. He had dark hair, dark eyes, and a face that was... well, really handsome. But he looked annoyed, like she'd just interrupted something important.

"You're not supposed to be here," he said, his voice cold, like ice. "This is for the swim team."

Manon's cheeks flushed. He was so... annoying! But also, kind of... mesmerizing? No, focus! Why did he have to be so good looking? she thought.

He held out a hand. "Need a hand, or are you planning to swim in your uniform?"

His touch was surprisingly warm, almost a little spark. He pulled her up, and she tried to ignore the little jolt it gave her. "Thanks," she mumbled, avoiding his eyes. "I, uh, just slipped." Way to go, Manon, super smooth! she thought to herself.

"Clearly," Robin said, a hint of a smirk playing on his lips. He noticed her shivering. "You're shivering," he said, his voice a little less cold, almost... concerned? "And your face is… red."

Manon felt her cheeks burn even more. "I'm fine," she said quickly, turning to leave. "Just… a little wet. And embarrassed." Please let the floor swallow me whole, she thought.

She almost tripped, and she didn't notice her bracelet fall to the ground.

Robin watched her go, a small frown on his face. He saw the bracelet and picked it up. It was delicate, definitely not his. Who did this belong to? he wondered, a flicker of curiosity in his eyes. He put it in his pocket.

Manon ran until she was out of sight. "Never again," she whispered, her heart still pounding. "He's so… ugh!" Why does he have to be so handsome and annoying at the same time?

Beep! Her smartwatch showed: First Mission: Robin. Complete. New Mission: Make him fall for you.

"What?" Manon exclaimed. "Make him like me? That cold, annoying, handsome guy? No way! He probably thinks I'm a total klutz!" How am I going to do this? Manon sighed as she walked home.
