The moon shone brightly over the village of Konoha, casting a soft light. The night air was cool and quiet, with just a few distant insect sounds. Haruka walked to his father's house, which was old but full of wisdom. Tonight, it would hold important secrets. The dimly lit house in a quiet area had hosted many significant discussions before. Aoto, the elderly man, sat in his rocking chair by the fire, his mind sharp despite his age.
Haruka entered quietly, feeling heavy with concern. He had paced all day, torn between caring for his son, Kaito, and worrying about the village's safety. His footsteps echoed on the wooden floor as he approached Aoto's sitting area.
"You're here," Aoto said with a deep voice. His eyes, though old, remained clear.
"Father," Haruka replied, sitting down with a serious posture. "I need to talk to you about something concerning."
Aoto raised an eyebrow and rubbed his chin. "Concerning? Speak, son. There's little that isn't concerning in this village these days."
Haruka took a slow breath. "It's about Kaito."
Aoto's attention sharpened. "Kaito? What's wrong? Is he hurt?"
"No, he's fine," Haruka quickly assured him, though he felt a weight in his words. "It's about what he saw tonight. He told Honoka, and I can't ignore it."
Aoto frowned and clasped his hands together. "Go on."
Haruka leaned closer. "He saw Orochimaru near one of the orphanages today at sunset. I don't know what he was doing there, but Kaito sensed something was off."
The room felt tense. Aoto's expression changed as he processed the news. "Orochimaru, you say?" Aoto repeated quietly. "That murderous Sannin. His name means trouble."
Haruka nodded, his worry evident. "Yes, Father. He's not just a random person; he's dangerous. Kaito's instincts are never wrong. The issue is… we've been hearing rumors about Orochimaru for a while now—whispers that the Third Hokage's Anbu are covering for him in the investigation."
Aoto's eyes narrowed. "Covering for him?" he asked, his tone serious. "You believe the Third Hokage would ignore Orochimaru's actions?"
"I'm not sure," Haruka confessed, lowering his voice. "But the rumors are strong. There's more—some movements from the Anbu seem odd. There have been strange disappearances, and many of the missing children are from the Senju clan."
Aoto clenched his teeth, gripping the chair tightly. "That's no accident. I've seen this sort of thing before. Orochimaru has twisted goals—he's not just after power. He wants to experiment, and those children…" His voice trailed off as he considered the consequences.
Haruka stood and began pacing. "I fear Orochimaru might target Kaito next. He has taken an unusual interest in the Senju clan's bloodlines before. If he gets Kaito or uses him for experiments…"
Aoto looked at him seriously. "We won't allow that. We need to act quickly. If Orochimaru is focusing on Senju children, he will make a move soon."
Haruka clenched his fists. "We need to alert Minato. He's the only one who can help. The Hokage must know what's happening."
Aoto stood up, the joints in his body creaking, but his determination remained solid. "Agreed. Minato must be informed, and quickly. But we can't just go to him without proof. We need clear evidence that Orochimaru is behind this."
Haruka nodded. "I'll start gathering information right away. We need to be careful. The Third Hokage's Anbu are everywhere, and if they're covering for Orochimaru, we're in danger."
Aoto turned confidently. "I'll watch Kaito. You focus on gathering details. You know how to move quietly, Haruka. Don't hesitate to take risks."
Haruka sighed, already thinking about what to do next. "I'll do whatever it takes for Kaito's safety."
Aoto's expression softened for a moment. "I know you will. You've always been loyal, but now is the time to be more than that. Be cautious, Haruka. This is bigger than us."
The room fell silent as father and son shared a moment of understanding. Finally, Haruka nodded and stood to leave. But first, he looked back at his father.
"I'll see you tomorrow," Haruka said softly. "Keep Kaito close. Don't let him out of your sight."
Aoto nodded. "I will. Now go. We don't have time to waste."
Haruka rushed out of the house, his heart racing. He had to act quickly; every moment brought him closer to Orochimaru's dangerous plans.
Meanwhile, Kaito slept in his bed at home, unaware of the intense conversation that had just taken place. He was recovering from his tough training. Even in sleep, he thought of a pale, snake-like figure and sensed something was wrong.
As the night went on, Haruka made plans. He needed to speak with Minato for vital information, but he knew he would be watched. Konoha had too many eyes and too many people guarding their secrets.
The next morning, as the sun rose, Haruka was on his way to the Hokage Tower. He had an urgent warning to deliver. The Hokage protects the village, but Haruka feared that even Minato might not know the full truth about the conspiracy in Konoha.
Haruka navigated the familiar streets and climbed the steps of the Hokage Tower, feeling the urgency of his message. He entered Minato's office, where the Hokage was reviewing documents. Minato smiled when he saw Haruka.
"Haruka! What brings you here so early?" he asked. But Haruka was not here for small talk.
"Minato," he said seriously. "We need to talk."
Minato noticed the tension in Haruka's voice. "Of course, sit down."
Haruka sat down across from Minato and leaned in. "It's about Orochimaru."
Minato's expression changed quickly, becoming serious. "Orochimaru? What about him?"
Haruka's eyes narrowed. "There are rumors that the Third Hokage's Anbu and Root are covering for him. Children are going missing, and I suspect Orochimaru is involved. All the missing children have Senju blood."
Minato's face darkened at Orochimaru's name. "I know some rumors, but I've been trying to keep the Anbu from overreacting. You believe Orochimaru is behind these disappearances?"
"I do," Haruka said. "The children of Senju blood interest him. He seeks more than just power. I believe he is conducting experiments similar to the ones done during the Second Shinobi World War. I also think the Third Hokage's Anbu and even Root might be ignoring his actions or covering for him."
Minato looked concerned. "Root? Are you sure?"
Haruka nodded. "The Anbu and Root have been too quiet and secretive. I've seen their operations, and something feels wrong."
Minato crossed his arms and thought carefully. "This is serious. If Orochimaru operates without interference, and the Anbu are ignoring or covering it up, we have a big problem. I need to act quickly, but I'll need your help. We can't expose this without solid evidence."
Haruka's expression hardened. "I'm already gathering information. But we can't delay. Orochimaru's plans may have already started. The longer we wait, the more children might disappear."
Minato clenched his jaw. "I'll talk to the Jonin Commander to strengthen Konoha's borders in case Orochimaru's plans go beyond the village. You're right, Haruka. We need to act fast."
Haruka agreed. "I'll start with the orphanages. Kaito might have seen something last night that could help us."
Minato stood up and offered his hand to Haruka. "Let's do everything we can to protect Kaito and the others. I'll get my team on it." Haruka took Minato's hand, sealing their promise to work together. "Thank you, Minato. For everything."
With that, Haruka left the Hokage's office, his mind racing about their next steps. The fight against Orochimaru was starting, and they could not afford to lose.
