Darius walked back to his apartment after he had grabbed something from the grocery store. He wanted to head back home and see how his sister was doing, but a thought kept bothering him.
And it was something he wouldn't be able to overlook for long.
'What if Nathan Cruz came after him?' How was he going to be able to handle it? He was going to make sure that he wouldn't escape him next time.
'I can't attack him yet. Theo made it clear that I am not going to be able to do anything to stop his family. This is going to be a problem for me to even avoid. what if I run into him again.' Darius wanted to find a way and make sure that nothing was going to threaten him for long.
He reached the apartment and looked at his phone to see that it was 4:29 pm, and it meant that Lena was waiting for him.
'I don't know what to expect.' Darius gently opened the door. "I am home."
He paused. He looked down to see Lena lying close to the door. He was looking at her, and he was a bit surprised there was no way he would have imagined seeing her there.
'Was she waiting for me?' He thought as he walked in, he placed his bag and swords by the side before picking Lena up. He walked into the living room and laid her down on the couch.
"I told her to head to Aunt Shirley's house; she would have been better off there than waiting for me here," Darius complained; he didn't want anything to happen to Lena.
"I don't want to be far frim you big brother," Lena spoke up. Darius turned to see her rubbing her eyes. She had woken up when he laid her down on the couch.
"Big brother." She had a smile on her face; she was happy that he was home, but almost immediately, her face turned different. "You came home late! I was worried something happened to you, and I didn't know what I was going to do!"
"Hey, don't come on switching moods with me, young lady!" Darius was looking at her; he didn't know why, but the moment she said that she thought she had lost him, he felt dread over his body, and it was like it happened.
Darius smiled as he patted Lena's head. "Nothing will take me away from you, your big brother is way stronger than that."
Lena returned a smile, she didn't want to imagine losing her brother. Not that way, Lena got up from the couch.
"What's for Dinner?" Lena was looking at Darius, he had a bag in his hand, which meant he had cooking on his mind.
Darius looked at the bag then at Lena before giving her a warm smile, he was going to cook something nice for her.
"It is going to be a surprise, so I am not telling you." Darius picked up his weapons and went to freshen up so he would be able to prepare the meal for her.
"I don't like surprises!" Lena pouted, she folded her arms stomping her feet.
"Lighten up, kiddo, it's your favourite. Gimme a few minutes, and I will head to the kitchen." Darius entered the bathroom, he could see Lena jumping up when he told her it was her favourite meal that he was going to make.
He smiled, and his thoughts went back to Theo. He didn't know how he was faring. "I wonder if he is okay."
At the upper district of Creston City, Theo had reached the revered Sung Estate, Home to one of the city's greatest warrior clans.
The Sung family!
Theo was not in a good mood as he walked to the Sung family's head house. He was not going there to tell him how happy he was to be part of the family, nor was he going to even look at them like he was scared of them.
When the guards saw Theo coming, they wanted to block him from going further.
"Lord Theo, I am sorry, but we can't allow you to enter the mansion. Not in your state, please go clean yourself up."
"I only wish to speak with them, I am not going there for a dance lesson." Theo was not trying to stop; he had something to say to the family, and he was going to make sure that they were going to hear it.
"But Lord Theo," The guard tried to stop him. When Theo glared at him, the guard froze up. He couldn't move an inch further, knowing that he was going to be killed if he was to do anything to try and stop him.
Theo opened the door, and the entire Sung family was there, from Theo's parents to his uncles and aunts and siblings. They watched him as he walked up to them.
"Ah, look, it is the great A-ranked disappointment! Has he come to join us?!" One of cousins mocked, and the others began laughing at him.
Theo's father, Jin Sung, was not happy that his son had walked into the meeting like that. He looked at his son, and he could feel something different.
"Just look how dirty he is, I wonder what his whore mother taught him aside being an air head!" Jinah Sung spoke up, She was Theo's grandmother and the wife of the family head.
None of them liked Theo; they all saw him as a burden and someone who needed to be removed. Theo's father had an affair with a foreigner when he was off on a mission. The affair led to the birth of his first son and greatest disappointment.
'Theo.'
As a result, Theo never got the love he wanted from his family, and he spent all his life trying to prove that he was going to be someone like them. The family of S ranked warriors, but when Theo grew older, he found out that the Sung family, even though they were one of the strongest families in the city or even the world.
They were corrupt, they would do things that no one would imagine warriors doing and get away with it.
Theo was shocked when he found out that his family wasn't the only ones doing it; most of the great warrior families of the city were all corrupt and would do things for only themselves.
Theo swore that he was never going to be part of his family, not even if it was the last thing to do on earth. Theo had managed to survive, thanks to the wealth and connections his mother left for him before she passed.
His revolt caused his family to call him a waste like his mother, but Theo rose through the ranks and became an A-ranked warrior in the warrior leader board.
Chen Sung, the family head, was looking at Theo as he walked in.
"Tell me, child, have you come to your senses, or did you come here for something else?" He was looking at his grandson, he didn't know what he was going to expect from him.
Theo looked around, he placed his eyes on his father and half siblings. Clearing his throat, he spoke up.
"I know you are the ones who sent Nathan Cruz for me, There was no way he would have joined my raid if one of you hadn't given him the information he needed."
The family was enraged when they heard what Theo had to say, and it was not what they would have imagined.
"Have you gone mad?!" Jinah shrieked as she abruptly stood up from her chair, her face twisted with rage as she was about to do something else. Chen raised his hand, stopping her.
He turned his attention back to Theo, he was surprised to see that the boy was not even afraid to talk to them like that.
"So, is that all you came to say?" He asked, looking at him.
Theo didn't feel threatened or even scared. He cleared his throat and spoke up.
"I am going to form my own guild with someone else, I am not going to be living in your shadows." Theo placed his hand on his chest, looking at them. "Your blood might run through my veins, I might bear your name, but I am not going to be part of this family!"
"Have you gone mad?! Take those words back now!" Jin was looking at his son, disappointed he couldn't think of anything that would make him say something like that.
Chen looked at his son, it was a sign that he wanted silence. He smiled as he turned to Theo; he didn't know what works even gave him that courage to speak up to him.
"Very well, child, you choose to cut ties with your family? So be it! I want to see how far the things you inherited from your whore mother would lead you. And if you come crawling back, we will never accept you."
Theo smiled before he turned. "I don't need your acceptance, I will make my way."
An image of Darius popped up in his mind.
'With him, but I have to get stronger so I can stand by his side.'
