Chapter 14: A Spark of Curiosity

The next day, Noah wasn't expecting Jason to say anything about their conversation. In fact, he half expected Jason to pretend it never happened. But during lunch, Jason casually dropped into the seat across from him.

"So," Jason said, popping open a soda, "is it, like, a rule that Christians have to carry a Bible around everywhere? Or is that just a you thing?"

Noah blinked in surprise. He hadn't even taken his Bible out today. "Uh… I just like having it with me."

Jason smirked. "Right. Thought you might need a rule book or something."

Noah hesitated. He could tell Jason was being sarcastic, but there was something different about his tone today—less mocking, more… curious.

"It's not really a rule book," Noah said. "It's more like… guidance. Kinda like a map."

Jason raised an eyebrow. "A map, huh? So, what, you think life has some kind of set path?"

Noah took a deep breath. "Not exactly. But I do believe God has a plan for us. The Bible just helps me stay on the right track."

Jason leaned back in his chair, swirling his soda can in his hand. "So, if I read it, will I suddenly get all the answers to life?"

Noah chuckled. "Not all at once. But it helps."

Jason hummed in thought. He didn't press further, but Noah could tell he was thinking. And that was enough.

Later that night, as Noah lay in bed, he thought about their conversation. Was he really ready to answer Jason's questions? What if he said the wrong thing? What if he pushed too hard and made Jason back off?

Noah sighed and sat up, folding his hands in prayer. "God, I don't know what You're doing with Jason, but I don't want to mess this up. Please help me to say the right things and just… guide me."

As he finished praying, a calmness settled over him. He didn't need to have all the answers. He just needed to be willing to listen, to be there, and to trust that God was working in ways he couldn't see yet.

And maybe—just maybe—Jason's curiosity was the first step toward something bigger.
