You Punished the Wrong Person

The next morning, Gu Muchen arrived at the Ye family’s house as planned to take Ye Shiyun out for breakfast.

"Mr. Gu, Miss Ye isn’t ready yet. Let me take you to the living room..." Little Ling led the way while stealing glances at Gu Muchen.

This man is so handsome. His cold and serious face, along with his tall figure, makes him even more impressive than supermodels.

Miss Ye is really lucky to marry such an outstanding man.

Little Ling was already planning to get on Miss Ye’s good side. If she and Mr. Gu got married, maybe she could go with them too.

But while she was lost in her thoughts, she didn’t notice the cold look that flashed in Gu Muchen’s eyes.

Gu Muchen hated people who weren’t punctual, and today, Ye Shiyun had left a really bad impression on him.

As soon as they entered the living room, Yu Wanyue greeted them with a smile.

"Mr. Gu, you’re here to pick up Shiyun, right? She’s really excited about this date and wants to show you her most beautiful side."

Yu Wanyue gave Little Ling a look. "Go and remind Miss Ye not to keep Mr. Gu waiting."

Little Ling quickly ran upstairs. Yu Wanyue was about to continue chatting with Gu Muchen, but he interrupted her.

"Mrs. Ye, I prefer quiet."

Yu Wanyue froze, feeling embarrassed. The room suddenly became awkward.

Gu Muchen sat by the window, looking outside at the courtyard. Just then, a small figure ran into his view.

His eyes lingered on her for a few more seconds. He recognized her, it was the girl who bumped into him a few days ago, Ye Chu.

She was still wearing the same white shirt from that day, but the buttons on the collar had been replaced and were now tightly fastened.

Last night, because He Shuxin’s condition suddenly got worse, Ye Chu had rushed to the hospital after leaving the bar.

She didn’t return until this morning, only after He Shuxin’s condition stabilized. She hurried back to make breakfast for Ye Shiyun.

At this time, Ye Shiyun was usually still asleep. Hopefully, she would wake up early today.

As Ye Chu prayed and ran towards the kitchen, she had no idea that a pair of deep, dark eyes were watching her from the window.

"Ye Chu!"

Ye Chu was startled by Housekeeper Yang’s loud voice. She cursed her bad luck and quickly turned around to greet her.

"Housekeeper Yang."

"Ye Chu, you’re getting bolder! Not only did you stay out all night, but now you didn’t even prepare Miss’s breakfast!" Housekeeper Yang scolded.

As she walked closer, she noticed the faint smell of smoke and alcohol on Ye Chu.

Her expression turned cold as she sneered, "Hmph, a mother like that would raise a daughter just as shameless!"

"Housekeeper Yang, you can scold me for my mistakes, but don’t insult my mother!" Ye Chu suddenly lifted her head, her bright and clear eyes staring straight at Housekeeper Yang.

Her voice was firm and left no room for argument.

Housekeeper Yang was stunned for a moment, then coughed and ordered, "You don’t need to make Miss’s breakfast anymore. Mr. Gu is taking Miss out today. Instead, go serve Mr. Gu a cup of coffee!"

"Housekeeper Yang, can someone else do it?" Ye Chu hesitated. She didn’t want to get involved with Gu Muchen.

"If I tell you to go, you go! Stop talking back! If you upset Miss, you’ll suffer the consequences!" Housekeeper Yang snapped.

Ye Chu had no choice but to carry the coffee and bring it to Gu Muchen. When she entered the room, she saw him sitting by the window.

The morning sunlight shone through the glass, making the cold and handsome side of his face look even more striking.

Ye Chu quickly looked away, carefully carrying the tray with her head down as she walked in.

At that moment, Xiaoling came down from the second floor. Seeing Ye Chu serving Gu Muchen, she immediately felt unhappy.

She was supposed to be the one entertaining Mr. Gu today! But Ye Chu was really good at getting attention.

With a smile, Xiaoling walked over and said, "Mr. Gu, sorry for keeping you waiting. Miss will be here soon."

As she passed Ye Chu, Xiaoling secretly stretched out her foot and tripped her.

Ye Chu didn’t notice the trap and stumbled forward toward Gu Muchen. The tray in her hands tilted, and the coffee spilled out of the cup.

Ye Chu reacted quickly, twisting her wrist so the tray tilted toward herself. The tray and the coffee landed on her instead.

She fell to the floor, the hot coffee splashing all over her body.

"Agh..." Ye Chu gasped in pain, sitting on the ground. Her white shirt was covered in coffee stains, and her arms, now red from the burns, stung badly.

"What’s wrong with you, Ye Chu?! You’re so clumsy! What if you burned Mr. Gu? Can you take responsibility?!"

Ye Shiyun had spent all morning getting ready and had just come downstairs when she saw Ye Chu fall.

This shameless Ye Chu! How dare she get close to Gu Muchen in front of her?!

"Apologize to Mr. Gu right now!"

Ye Chu, still in pain, struggled to get up. She held her burned arm and lowered her head as she softly said, "Mr. Gu, I’m sorry..."

Gu Muchen’s cold eyes swept over her, stopping at her red and swollen arm.

Her pale skin made the burns look even more painful—just like the marks he had seen on her neck and collarbone that day.

"Muchen, are you okay?" Ye Shiyun asked sweetly.

Gu Muchen glanced up. From this angle, Ye Shiyun and Ye Chu looked somewhat similar.

"This clumsy maid needs to be punished to learn her lesson. Housekeeper Yang, deduct Ye Chu’s entire month’s salary—"

"Wait."

Gu Muchen’s voice was cold and firm.

"You punished the wrong person."

Then, his gaze landed on Xiaoling.
