Put Some Good Stuff on Him

"Mumian..." Ye Shiyun called out sweetly, wrapping her arms around Gu Muchen's arm.

Gu Muchen frowned at her sudden closeness. The strong perfume on her made him feel sick, but since he had promised to take responsibility for her, he endured it, even though he had no feelings for her.

Seeing that Gu Muchen didn't push her away, Ye Shiyun felt proud. She even raised her eyebrows at the jealous socialites around them from time to time.

"Who is this?" Grandpa Du asked with a smile when he saw the woman clinging to Gu Muchen.

Ye Shiyun was just about to speak proudly, but Gu Muchen’s cold voice cut her off.

"Ye Shiyun."

He only said her name and didn't mention her identity. Grandpa Du immediately understood and smiled. He didn't ask any more questions and changed the topic.

Ye Chu arrived at the party and finally realized it was hosted by the Du family.

The Du family? Isn't that where Du Shicheng is from?

She had just fallen out with Du Shicheng not long ago. If he saw her here, who knew what he would do?

So, as soon as she arrived, Ye Chu hid in the most inconspicuous corner, hoping not to be noticed.

But things never went as planned.

Soon, a group of socialites surrounded her.

Even though they didn’t say it outright, who here didn’t admire Gu Muchen and want to marry him? So when Ye Shiyun showed off, they were all secretly jealous.

Since they couldn't do anything to Ye Shiyun with Gu Muchen by her side, they shifted their attention to Ye Chu.

"I heard you're the illegitimate daughter of the Ye family," a socialite sneered.

"Is the Ye family so poor now that they let you in wearing clothes like that? You're just a country bumpkin. Don't even think about pretending to be one of us!" Another one laughed, mocking both Ye Chu and the Ye family.

"What is Shen Zhiyan wearing? And what are you wearing? Are all the Ye family daughters this embarrassing?"

They kept insulting her, one after another. But Ye Chu only smiled slightly, as if nothing had happened.

"If you can't hide your jealousy, why don't you go say this in front of Ye Shiyun instead? Why are you wasting your time bullying me, a mere bastard?"

She swirled the wine in her glass and spoke lazily, "If I pour this glass of wine on my dress, push my chair, and fall to the ground, who do you think will be embarrassed? Me, an ignored bastard, or you, a group of so-called rich girls acting high and mighty?"

She lifted the glass slightly, pretending she was about to throw it. "If you don't want to get hit by a country bumpkin like me, stay away. Otherwise, this wine might end up on someone's face."

The socialites quickly stepped back in fear, cursing under their breath, but none of them dared to provoke her anymore.

Now that the annoying pests were gone, Ye Chu finally found some peace and sat quietly in the least noticeable corner, waiting for the party to end.

"I've been watching you for a while, little girl. You have a sharp tongue!"

A cheerful male voice sounded from above. Ye Chu looked up and saw a young man smiling at her. He sat down beside her without waiting for an invitation.

He grinned mischievously. "Those girls always gang up on people, but I've never seen them look so defeated before."

The man looked about her age. He was handsome and had a playful, carefree air about him, like a child who never grew up and loved causing trouble.

He reached out his hand and introduced himself, "Hi, I'm Gu Leheng."

Gu?

Ye Chu's mind instantly reacted. Was he related to Gu Muchen?

"Ye Chu," she nodded politely but didn't shake his hand.

"I know." Gu Leheng smiled and pulled his hand back, not minding that she didn’t return the gesture.
