Our Master Wants To See You

Suddenly, the phone rang urgently.

In the darkness, Logan frowned in annoyance.

He withdrew his large hand that was hovering over Skyler’s face and picked up the phone beside him.

"Hello."

"Master Lee, glad to hear you’re safe. We’ve received your location, and the car is parked downstairs. There’s an urgent matter in the Imperial City…"

Noah, Logan’s subordinate, spoke on the other end of the phone.

Something very important had happened in the Imperial City, and Logan needed to leave immediately.

He hung up the phone.

Logan lowered his eyes and looked at the little woman sleeping soundly in his arms in the darkness.

He was about to pick her up.

"Mmm… I’m so tired, don’t… don’t move me…"

Skyler let out a soft groan, resisting in her sleep. Her small hand pushed against the man’s palm, refusing to be disturbed. Her face burrowed deeper into the blanket.

Seeing how exhausted she was, Logan sighed and stopped. Instead, he slipped a black obsidian ring, still warm from his body temperature, onto her ring finger.

"Be good and wait for me here. Someone will come pick you up later."

One Week Later, at the Jones Family Residence

"Uncle, Aunt, open the door! You promised to save my mother if I agreed to the blind date at the Nightshade Club! Why did the hospital call and say you not only withdrew all the medical expenses but also ordered them to remove my mother’s oxygen tube? Open the door, Uncle! You can’t be this heartless!"

In the pouring evening rain, Skyler banged on the Jones family’s door.

Finally, the door creaked open.

Aunt Emma appeared with an impatient expression.

"Skyler, you shameless girl, how dare you come asking for medical expenses?"

Emma sneered and folded her arms.

"Look at the news! Ever since your meeting with Mr. Brown last Friday, he pulled all his investments from our Martin family! Now, he’s vanished, not answering our calls. You must have offended him during the blind date! Do you still think you’re some precious young lady? You’re just a cheap woman! Mr. Brown was willing to have you; it was your good fortune! What did you lose by sleeping with him? Why are you pretending to be virtuous?"

"What did you say?"

Skyler’s face turned pale as everything suddenly clicked.

It wasn’t a coincidence.

Her uncle and aunt had known everything. They had known exactly what Mr. Brown planned to do to her.

"You told me to go on that blind date, saying you were worried about my future, that I should find a good man to marry so my mother could rest easy. Was all of that just a lie? You never cared about me! You just wanted to sell me in exchange for investments!"

Skyler clenched her fists in anger.

No wonder Aunt Emma had spoken so highly of Mr. Brown, a man old enough to be her father, sleazy and disgusting.

Thinking back to that night, how Mr. Brown had drugged her coffee, Skyler realized that if it weren’t for sheer luck and running into the man from a year ago, she would have been ruined.

But even though she had escaped Mr. Brown’s clutches, she had unknowingly spent another night with the same mysterious man.

Just like a year ago, he had vanished without a trace, leaving behind only a black obsidian ring.

Skyler didn’t even know what he looked like.

It wasn’t until she got home and checked her body in the mirror that she saw the marks all over her skin, clear evidence of their night together.

"Aunt, do you even have a conscience? Because of your arrangement, I ended up meeting another man at the club that night, and he…" Skyler trailed off.

"What man? What nonsense are you spouting?" Emma squinted, sensing something was off in Skyler’s words.

"Hah! You little tramp! Instead of staying with Mr. Brown, you fooled around with some random man! No wonder Mr. Brown wants nothing to do with us now! Listen up! The Jones family has supported you and your mother for years. We’ve done enough! From now on, we won’t give another cent for your mother’s treatment! Get out of this house!"

Emma turned and barked at Uncle Luke, who stood behind her. "Throw her stuff out!"

A moment later, a black plastic bag with a few pieces of clothing was tossed at Skyler’s feet.

"Get lost! If our good daughter Isabella comes home and sees you here, you’ll bring bad luck!"

Skyler’s eyes burned red with fury.

If her mother weren’t waiting for her in the hospital, she would fight this wicked aunt to the death.

She picked up the bag, her face darkened. "Wait! Something’s missing! Where’s my mother’s bottle of Holy Tears of the Divine Eye? Why isn’t it in here?"

The Holy Tears of the Divine Eye perfume was the last one left in the world. It was her mother’s favorite scent.

Back when Ava was still a wealthy lady, she had won it at an overseas auction.

Mom loved it so much, she wore it every day, saying it reminded her of her youth.

Every time Skyler visited Ava in the hospital, she would spray a little on herself.

The last time she used it was a week ago before going to the club.

She hadn’t been back to the Jones family since. There was no way she had misplaced it.

"Holy Tears? I don’t know what you’re talking about!" Emma’s eyes flickered with guilt.

"Never mind, I’ll go in and find it myself."

"You dare?!" Emma shoved Skyler back.

During the scuffle, Emma’s sharp eyes caught something glinting under Skyler’s collar.

"Wait a minute, you wretched girl. What’s that shiny thing around your neck?"

Emma’s hand shot out. With a sudden yank, she snapped the chain.

A black obsidian ring, studded with tiny diamonds, fell into Emma’s palm.

Emma’s eyes gleamed greedily. "Well, well, hiding something this valuable, were you?"

"No! Give it back! That’s mine!"

That ring was left by the man from the Nightshade Club!

It was her only clue to finding him.

"Get lost! You and your mother owe this family too much! This ring will cover part of your debt! If you dare fight me for it, I’ll beat you to death!"

Emma slapped Skyler hard and shoved her out the door.

Bang!

The iron gate slammed shut.

The rain poured even harder.

Neighbors peeked from their windows, whispering and pointing at the disheveled girl who had just been kicked out of her home.

Skyler stood in the rain, heart filled with despair.

The man who promised to take responsibility had disappeared.

The family she trusted had abandoned her.

Her mother was still waiting in the hospital, desperately needing help.

What should she do now…?

Just then, two bright headlights cut through the downpour.

A black Rolls-Royce pulled up beside her.

A man stepped out of the car.

"Miss Skyler, our master wants to see you."

Half an hour later, Skyler was brought to the top floor of a luxury office building in the city center, where the land was very expensive.

Ever since her parents divorced, she and her mother had been kicked out of the house and forced to live with others. They had never been to such a high-end place again.

Just downstairs, she noticed that the people here were all dressed like business elites.

The cold and distant feeling from those people reminded her of the man she had met not long ago.

But his aura was even stronger, more fierce and cold.

Thinking of that night in the clubhouse a week ago, being pushed behind the door by that tall, straight man...
