"AHHHHHHHH!?" Kei bolted upright in bed, a bloodcurdling scream tearing from his throat as the remnants of the horrifying vision shattered like glass. His heart pounded against his ribcage, palms slick with a cold sweat that had nothing to do with the tangled sheets. For a moment, he was paralyzed, eyes wide and glassy as he stared at nothing.
Was that real? The devastating pain, the sense of his skull cracking open and his mind fracturing into a million jagged pieces... had it truly happened? Or was it just another twisted product of his increasingly unstable psyche? Kei's thoughts are nothing but a blur of panic, thinking of possible question on what just happend.
Kei's breath came in sharp, ragged gasps as he tried to ground himself in reality. The physical world felt distant, hazy, like a poorly rendered hologram projected just for his benefit. He could barely comprehend how his body had moved on pure instinct, thrashing against the phantom agony, as if trying to physically escape it.
A choked sob ripped through him and he pressed the heels of his hands against his eyes, as if he could hold back the tears by brute force alone. But it was no use. Scalding drops spilled down his cheeks, cutting through the salt on his lips. He tasted the coppery tang of blood and shuddered....it's not real? but why can he feel the pain?
"F-Fuck....that was definitely not a dream..." Kei shudders in fear, as he felt his head stroking it, his mind drifted back to last night, his heart raced as he remember "her" that was definitely not Akira...that was nothing but a smelly and disgusting monster.... The memories hit him with such force that he could almost taste the fear, that gnawing, suffocating terror that had taken root in his soul. The image of her repulsive apperance, as she stands there, too close, her breath heavy and warm against her skin, still haunted him, even now, when he tried to bury it all...
"I-I need to clear my mind...and think about what was that" Kei stood up, and went to the bathroom to start his day with a cold bath.
Later morning, after Kei did his usual strict hygiene routine like taking a bath twice and brushing his teeth twice etc...
Kei exasperately sighs "There no more dirty stuff on me...i feel like a baby that's been baptized alright...phew" Now what does he do? what is he suppose to do? ever since he woke up from that roof he felt liked he was missing something...? but what is that something?
"You've always known, Kei. You never wanted to face it, but it's real. I'm not real anymore. We're not real." Kei remembered that monster's exact words...what did it mean by that, he knew that it had something to do with his amnesia, but he can't simply remember that like what is he god? to simply remember that...his not.
"Oh well a breathe of fresh air will make things better right...i should also go to the mall while at it" Kei puts on his jacket.
The mall wasn't far—just a quick walk from his apartment—but it was exactly what she needed. A little window shopping, maybe a bite to eat, and to buy groceries for his everyday life, he might even find someone he is atleast familiar with. He grabbed his bag, the soft thud of his sneakers against the pavement echoing as he headed out the door.
I think im gonna go check on Akari.... Kei thought, heading to Akari's house.
as he continues his walk, he accidentally bumps into a ethereal young girl, in the process of hitting her head.
"Ow!? didn't your Mom tell you to look where your going!" the girl exclaimed as she rub her brown hair, her green eye squinting at Kei.
"....Well didn't your Mother tell you to not run while tilting your head down?" Kei retorts.
"Pfft...touche, touche" She smiles brightly, but there's something strange about her familiarity.
"Anyways....what'cha doing dressed up like that? are you going on a date you sly dog~?" She teases him.
Before his words could come out, Kei then comes to a realization why exactly was he about to have a conversation with a complete stranger.
Kei then let's out a word but only came of a mutter "U-Uh do i know you miss?"
the young girl froze, staying silent for a while, as she could only let out a sound of hesitation.
"U-Uhm...that.."
Kei intently eyed the girl in front of him in suspicion, as the girl just awkwardly look at him in silent.
"Oh! my Mom is calling me! I have to go now BYE i hope i never see you again!" The girl quickly rans off, leaving Kei quite. confused but also slightly amused. There's something about her presence that's unnervingly comfortable, almost like he's known her for years.
Kei then let's out a mutter.
"Wow what a douchebag"
The Girl's POV
I quickly ran off, feeling very embarassed and dumb....God why did i act like i know him!?
Now he probably thinks he has a stalker!? even though im not a stalker!? He doesn't even know me when i go to the same class as him!? What should i do, What is that rabbit's purpose....? The girl panically thinking a million possibilities of what she should do, what can she do.
...God why must i be send here in a new body?
Kei still thinking about that girl, the air thick with an unspoken familiarity. His mind is racing, trying to place her face in the clutter of memories. She's a stranger, yet she feels like a part of his past—like someone he's known for years but can't quite remember. His heart beats a little faster, a tightness in his chest as he tries to push through the fog of his mind.
Why do I feel like I know you? he thinks. Have we met before? No, that's impossible. She's a stranger. But there's something about the way she moves, the way she speaks… it's like I've seen this all before.
He watches her closely, eyes tracing the curve of her smile, the way her eyes seem to glimmer with something almost too familiar. He shifts uncomfortably, unsure whether it's a sense of deja vu or something deeper, something he can't quite articulate.
Maybe it's just the way she looks at me… It's like she's expecting something, or like she knows something I don't. But what?
A quiet frustration builds in him, as though this mysterious connection is just out of reach. He wants to ask, to say something that will clear the fog, but words feel trapped in his throat. There's a part of him, deep down, that doesn't want to know. What if the answer is more painful than the uncertainty?
I wish I could remember… His mind spirals. But I can't. It's like a piece of my life is missing, and you're holding it in your hands.
Kei scratches the back of his head still in deep confusion
"What a pain..."
