Chapter 9
Mikhaz rode the horse hard and fast. They had been riding for more than four hours and they'd since left the forest. With her scarf around her neck and face, Amasir felt the wind blowing hard against her face.
The only time they stopped their horses was to feed them and take a small break. And afterwards, they continued riding. They were not able to reach Suvark by nightfall and they spent the night at the road side.
Early the next morning, they continued their journey and rode agressive. They passed different farm lands and small houses. Unlike houses at the capital, the houses in this village were smaller in size.
The people looked malnourished and Amasir knew without doubt that Ravar and her son had been starving the people. For what gain?
To have enough money for the war?
It was until evening that they arrived at Suvark and their pacing slowed. Amasir removed the scarf from her head and she took a deep breath. She looked around.
When the war newly began, Ravar had threatened the villages and warned them not to accommodate Amasir and her mother or they would be killed. In that fear, they refuse to harbour them and it was only Suvark village that allowed them in.
Amasir caught sight of a young man in his early twenties run into s house and he came out with a woman who looked like was his mother. Both persons began to stare at Amasir in awe.
Another young girl caught this and she stood with her father.
"The Princess has arrived," she said, eye's widening as they looked around. Amasir knew they were looking for her mother. Had they received the news of her mother's death.
Her mother had loved them all and took them as family. With her mother gone, Amasir tried to think how she would be able to manage everything without getting overwhelmed.
In less than twenty minutes, group of people was standing at the side watching them. Some waved, others smiled. And some looked sad.
She leaned back and whispered to Mikhaz. "This is odd. What am I going to say if they ask me about my mother?"
"Well, with the look on their faces, I don't think they're unaware of her passing," Mikhaz said.
They continued riding and they rode past the people. Just then, something wet touched her face and when she looked up, it was raining. The rain fell heavily as they rode towards the house.
Several guards was just outside the huge black gate waiting for their arrival. They opened the gate and bowed their heads to Amasir as they rode into the space.
She took a deep breath, briefly closing her eyes as the rain washed down the dirts from her body.
They rode the horses to the stables and Mikhaz was the first to drop down. Then he stretched out his hand for her and she came down.
The rain was coming down very heavy and Amasir clothes was drenched. She put the scarf around her head as she walked towards the entrance of the house.
The door opened revealing two guards standing on duty.
Amasir walked inside the house and the guards bowed their heads.
"Princess," one of the guards said. "It's good to see you."
Amasir understood what they meant. They were happy she hadn't passed away during the fight and had returned home safely.
"Same," she said. "It's been long."
It's been a month since they left Suvark for the war that took her mother's life.
"So long," said a voice from inside.
Amasir turned to see tall, dark haired and slim beautiful woman walk down the stairs. She wore white tunic and black long leggings.
Amasir smiled. "Nayalirr, I know you missed me than everyone here."
Before she knew it, Nayalirr captured her into a hug, raising her from her feet. She didn't mind that her clothes were dirty and wet.
Amasir wasn't surprised that Nayalirr was carrying her like this. The young woman was strong. Her father was a god and her mother use to work in a brothel. The two met in the brothel and her mother became pregnant. Up till now, Nayalirr doesn't know who her father is. She only knew he was a god.
Amasir dropped herself down and she smiled.
"We have a lot to catch up with," Nayalirr said. "But first you need a warm bath and some food to eat. Go upstairs to your room. I will send a maid there."
Amasir nodded and she walked past Nayalirr. She went upstairs to her room and before she could open the door, a maid was already standing at her side with her head bowed. They were each carrying a bucket of water and Amasir opened the door for them.
As the maids poured the water into the tub, Amasir touched it, feeling it wasn't hot enough. She raised her hand and allowed her Aether slip into the water. The water stirred and it turned very hot.
She smiled.
The maids bowed her head. "What would you like to eat, Princess?"
"What do we have in the kitchen?"
"We have soup, stew, dried meat and a lot more."
"I would eat some soup,' she said, not waiting for the maids to leave before her clothes went off from her body. She stepped into the tub, allowing herself to sink in before burying herself completely under the water.
