In the room, Filine was dressing Irina. Her long silver-white hair cascaded over her shoulders today, adorned with a snowflake-shaped headpiece.
As for her outfit, Filine had specifically chosen a black Lolita dress with intricate and beautiful patterns. Since the weather was getting colder, she had Irina wear a white underlayer beneath the dress, decorated with delicate lace, making it look quite elegant. A fishbone-shaped crinoline supported the skirt, giving it a voluminous shape.
Further down, Irina wore black over-the-knee stockings and small black leather shoes. Additionally, accessories such as a necklace, rings, bracelets, and a brooch adorned her in various places.
"Your Highness, you are as beautiful as ever. If you were still in the Moonlight Kingdom, I believe the nobles wanting to confess their love to you would line up from the palace all the way outside the capital," Filine remarked with a rare smile, offering her praise.
"That doesn't matter. What's important is that you must keep a close eye on me today," Irina whispered.
She was still a little anxious about leaving Silverleaf Academy. The mysterious transcendent who had caused the original Irina's silent demise likely wouldn't dare to make a move in broad daylight, right?
Filine glanced at Irina with a hint of confusion but ultimately assumed that the princess was just worried about social interactions, so she offered a few words of reassurance.
After finishing the preparations, they stepped out of the villa.
The weather wasn't great today. Thick, oppressive clouds loomed over the sky, as if it might rain at any moment. The wind carried a crisp chill.
Outside the villa, Irina quickly noticed numerous heated gazes.
The road in front of Villa No. 9 was the boundary between the northern and southern dormitory areas. A simple glance upward revealed the regular dormitories in the northern district. Right now, quite a few people were present there, watching her with either curiosity or admiration.
"There usually aren't that many people over there," Irina remarked with curiosity as she looked at the southern dormitories.
As soon as she spoke, she noticed someone approaching her from across the street.
It was a middle-aged man dressed in a black robe, with a refined demeanor. He wore black-framed glasses and exuded an air of scholarly elegance.
"Filine, who is he?" Irina asked softly.
Having long grown accustomed to her princess's poor memory, Filine replied, "That is Professor Roboni from the foreign languages department. You've only met him three times and spoken to him just once, so it's not surprising you don't remember him."
As Filine finished speaking, Roboni had already arrived.
"The beautiful jewel of the Moonlight Kingdom, I greet you," Roboni placed his right hand over his chest while keeping his left hand straight at his side, bowing slightly.
He spoke not in the Night Kingdom's Ferentian language but in the Moonlight Kingdom's Angusian language.
"Good morning, Professor Roboni," Irina responded appropriately, lifting her skirt slightly in a proper curtsey. She also replied in Angusian.
The original Irina was fluent in both languages, so speaking them posed no difficulty for her.
Seeing that her princess had performed a flawless curtsey this time, Filine gave an imperceptible nod of approval.
"Princess Irina, I am a devout follower of the Starlight Church. Since today is the Starlight Festival, I plan to host a celebratory banquet at the academy this evening. May I have the honor of inviting Your Highness to attend?" Roboni continued in Angusian.
Irina instinctively wanted to refuse but hesitated as a thought crossed her mind.
In this world, the power of the Church was immense—greater even than that of the kingdoms. It was a world where divine right ruled. Because of this, followers of the Church naturally held higher status. Refusing an invitation from a devout follower on a day like the Starlight Festival might bring unforeseen trouble.
"Since it is Professor Roboni's invitation, I will certainly attend," Irina accepted.
"That is wonderful. The event will be at nine in the evening. I apologize for the late hour, but today is a grand occasion, and there are many things to attend to," Roboni said with a smile.
"That is understandable. A day like this should be properly celebrated," Irina replied with a polite smile.
…
Not long after, Irina, accompanied by Filine, left Silverleaf Academy.
Outside, a spacious street awaited, where a luxurious yet understated carriage had been prepared. The Night Kingdom's guards were already in position.
'How many of these people are transcendents?'
Irina felt a little tense as her gaze swept over each of them. She could only hope these people would protect her well—she had no desire to meet an early demise just days after transmigrating.
Once inside the carriage, they set off for the northern district.
The capital of the Night Kingdom, Seraphite, was divided into five districts: east, west, south, north, and the central district.
The northern district was also known as the Royal District. The palace stood in that direction, alongside the famous King's Avenue. The southern side of King's Avenue housed official institutions and church cathedrals, while the northern side led directly to the palace. In other words, no ordinary citizens resided in the Royal District.
Silverleaf Academy was located in the Wutong Block of the central district, which was relatively close to the north. It didn't take long before Irina arrived at King's Avenue, where she saw the King of the Night Kingdom, Dawn VII, along with several of his children.
"Good morning, beautiful Princess of the Moonlight. Are you adjusting well to life in our kingdom?"
Dawn VII was a middle-aged man with an approachable demeanor. Today, he wore a black tailcoat, his short golden hair neatly combed, and his blue eyes carrying a gentle smile. He gave off the air of a refined gentleman.
Irina performed another curtsey before responding, "Good morning, Your Majesty Dawn VII. I am adapting well to life in the Night Kingdom. Many of the customs and traditions here are quite to my liking. The art and cuisine here are also very captivating."
Fline had coached her well on what to say, so she managed to remain composed.
"I'm glad to hear that. Also, your Ferentian is quite good, with a slight Seraphite accent. I almost mistook you for a native," Dawn VII remarked with a smile.
'He's a man full of confidence and pride.'
Irina came to this conclusion. She was quite sure her Ferentian pronunciation was flawless, without any accent. Was Dawn VII subtly expressing the Night Kingdom's strength? Perhaps implying that Ferentian had already spread across the world?
But this was indeed a fact—Ferentian was gradually becoming the common language, widely spoken in the Moonlight Kingdom, the Polar Kingdom, and the Free Federation.
"Let's go. It's about time. The Church officials have likely been waiting for us," Dawn VII continued, but his expression subtly stiffened when he mentioned the Church.
