Subaru, Emilia, Crusch and Elsa were looking at the new top sailor in the capital, which was Reinhard Book, 'The Fool's Love Comedy: A Hero's Harem Misadventures' aka the one based on Subaru Love Life, it is Top 4, witch No 1 being Shadow Slave Volume 3 and No 2 being Naruto Volume 5, they weren't shocked that Subaru book made too the top they were shocked by Roswaal book
Subaru rubbed his temples as he stared at the ranking board. "This has to be a joke..."
Emilia, standing beside him, tilted her head. "Why is Roswaal's book selling so well? I thought people would be more interested in Subaru's story."
Crusch crossed her arms. "Apparently, people love reading about a fool stumbling through love and life. Especially when it's exaggerated."
Elsa smirked, flipping through a copy. "Oh, it's more than exaggerated. Some of these scenes are straight-up fantasy."
Subaru groaned. "What do you mean? What's in there?"
Elsa cleared her throat and read aloud: "'With the moonlight casting a romantic glow, the dashing hero Subaru found himself cornered by a trio of stunning beauties, each vying for his love. His heart pounded as Emilia leaned closer, her breath warm against his ear—'"
"STOP! STOP! STOP!" Subaru clutched his head, his face turning bright red. "That never happened! When did that ever happen?!"
Al walked over, laughing as he patted Subaru's back. "Bro, it's selling like crazy because people think it's real. You're basically the protagonist of a romance novel now."
Subaru groaned. "This is why I hate the media."
Emilia, meanwhile, seemed more curious than anything. "I don't remember this scene either…"
Crusch chuckled. "Neither do I, but it does make for good reading."
Subaru turned his glare toward the culprit, who was standing nearby with a smug grin—Roswaal, quill in hand.
"Ahhh, Subaru-kun, this is merely artistic license~" Roswaal sang. "Besides, the people love it! Why not embrace your new fame?"
Subaru clenched his fists. "Roswaal, I swear, if you write a sequel—"
Roswaal's grin widened. "Oh, I already started Volume 2."
Subaru collapsed to his knees. "Why is my life like this?"
Elsa then spoke looking at him. "I mean nobody in Lugunica outside of our circle knows it so us, I just used your name too make point".
Subaru grone as he spoke. "If anyone does I am digging my own grave"
[Satella spoke in his head. "I advised against that"]
Emilia spoke pointing her finger at him. "I advised against that".
Subaru groaned even louder, rubbing his face. "Great, now even the Witch of Envy is giving me life advice. That's how you know I'm screwed."
Elsa chuckled, clearly enjoying his suffering. "Come on, it's not that bad. If anything, this just makes you more mysterious. 'Who is the real Fool? The hero with too many women in love with him!' It's basically a legend in the making."
"I don't need a legend! I need peace!" Subaru snapped.
Emilia put her hands on her hips. "Then maybe you should stop acting like a fool all the time."
Subaru opened his mouth, then closed it, realizing he had no comeback. "Okay, that's fair."
Crusch smirked. "Still, this means Roswaal's book might outsell yours if you're not careful."
Subaru's eye twitched. "Oh, hell no. I refuse to lose to this clown. Time to finish writing Volume 6 of Naruto!"
Roswaal chuckled, tapping his quill against his chin. "Oho~ Competition is good for creativity, Subaru-kun~ Let's see who sells more."
Subaru clenched his fists in determination. "Fine! But if you write any more fake romance scenes, I'm throwing you into the dragon carriage myself!"
Satella whispered in his mind again. "I still advise against that."
Subaru sighed. "Noted, noted."
Al then looked at Subaru. "Anyway me and Bro gonna go and... Do something".
Subaru got up as he looked at him. "Yeah, let's Go Al".
As they walked out of the Machine, as they went a Alchemist Lap in the capital, as Subaru pulled out the small bag as he looked at Al.
Al looked as he spoke. "Do you know how too make Potions for Both Salvation and Fool Pathway".
Subaru looked at him as he spoke. "Kinda, I remember reading how it was done in Lord Of The Mysteries, so um yeah".
Al crossed his arms. "So you're telling me you're about to brew something that could fundamentally alter your existence... based on what you read in a web novel?"
Subaru shrugged. "Worked for Klein."
Al sighed. "Bro, that's like saying 'jumping into an eldritch horror's mouth worked for that one guy, so it should work for me too'."
Subaru grinned. "Hey, calculated risks! Besides, I have Return by Death. If I screw up, I just wake up with a massive headache and redo it."
Al shook his head. "That is the worst safety net I have ever heard."
Subaru ignored him and started setting up the alchemy table. He pulled out the ingredients from Al's bag, inspecting each one carefully. "Alright, so for Fool's Pathway, I need mysticism-aligned components, things related to deception, trickery, and fate… Salvation needs more holy-based stuff, things connected to healing, judgment, and protection."
Al watched as Subaru sorted the ingredients into two piles. "You're really going through with this, huh?"
Subaru nodded. "Of course. I need to pick a pathway eventually. If I don't, someone else will choose for me—and I don't trust Pandora, Sekhmet, or any of the witches to have my best interests at heart."
Al chuckled. "Fair enough. So, which one are you leaning towards?"
Subaru hesitated, looking at the two piles of ingredients. "I don't know yet. Fool gives me more flexibility, but Salvation makes me stronger in a straightforward way. Both have insane potential, but they also have drawbacks."
Al nodded. "Then let's brew them both. That way, you can decide when you're ready."
Subaru grinned. "That was the plan."
With that, the two got to work, carefully preparing the potions that could shape Subaru's destiny.
Al looked at him as he spoke. "So you still haven't chosen which of the two pathways you wanna go with".
Subaru srugged as he started too make the potion. "Yeah but it better too have so help me here fellow Pathway user".
Al looked as he spoke. "Again my pathway is way different from the two you are trying too make".
Subaru smirked as he crushed a few ingredients into a fine powder. "Yeah, yeah, Twilight Giant Pathway is all about raw strength, adaptability, and standing tall against fate. Meanwhile, Fool and Salvation are all about trickery or righteousness."
Al crossed his arms. "Exactly. My pathway is straightforward—punch hard, survive harder. Your options? One makes you a cosmic prankster, the other turns you into a divine executioner. Those are two extremes, Bro."
Subaru chuckled. "I prefer to think of it as a choice between chaos and responsibility." He stirred the mixture, watching as the liquid shimmered between gold and deep purple. "And considering my luck, I'll probably end up in the middle somehow."
Al sighed. "Yeah, that sounds about right. So what's next?"
Subaru pulled out a vial of special essence. "Now we let these mixtures settle. When the colors stabilize, we can refine them into proper potions."
Al smirked. "Hope you don't explode, Bro."
Subaru shot him a look. "Oh, come on. What's the worst that could happen?"
At that moment, the Fool potion started bubbling violently.
Al took a step back. "Yeah, I'm gonna stand over there."
Al looked as he spoke. "You know Subaru you trust me with a lot, Return By Death, Your Sin System even the Witch's that talk in your head, am I really that much of trust worty guy brother".
Subaru looked at him as he spoke. "I mean we are from the same world, who else do you expect me trust with this information".
Al scratched the back of his head, a bit taken aback. "Man, that's a lot of faith to put in a guy you barely knew before all this."
Subaru smirked as he carefully monitored the potion's reaction. "Yeah, well, trust is built, right? Besides, out of everyone here, you're the only one who actually understands what it means to be from our world. You get the weight of it."
Al sighed and leaned against the table. "Yeah, I guess you're right. Even if I don't remember much from my old life, I still get what you mean." He looked at Subaru seriously. "But still, all this power, all these secrets… Don't you ever feel like it's too much?"
Subaru chuckled dryly. "Every damn day." He paused, glancing at the two potions. The Fool potion had settled into a deep purple with faint golden swirls, while the Salvation potion had a radiant golden hue with hints of crimson. "But that's why I keep moving forward. If I stop, everything crumbles."
Al nodded, watching the potions closely. "And if you pick the wrong pathway?"
Subaru grinned. "Then I guess I'll just have to make it work, no matter what."
As Subaru activated [Wisdom of Greed], a faint golden glow surrounded his eyes, filling his mind with knowledge on alchemy and potion synthesis.
Al took a cautious step back. "Alright, Bro, let's hope this doesn't end with us covered in glowing goo or worse."
The Fool potion began to swirl, the purple liquid shifting as if reacting to Subaru's intent. The Salvation potion, on the other hand, pulsed gently, radiating an almost sacred aura.
Subaru carefully adjusted the ratios, his hands steady as he mixed the final ingredients. "Almost there… Just a little more..."
Suddenly, the Fool potion bubbled violently, and the Salvation potion emitted a bright flash.
Al took another step back. "Uh, that doesn't look good—"
BOOM!
A small explosion erupted, sending a cloud of purple and gold smoke billowing through the lab. When the dust settled, Subaru was left sitting on the floor, covered in sparkles, while Al stood by the door, completely untouched.
Al snickered. "Well, good news, we're not dead. Bad news, you look like a damn glitter bomb went off on you."
Subaru groaned. "This is exactly why I was hesitant about potion-making..."
Subaru looked at Al as he spoke. "You know what to do".
She stabbed Subaru neck with his sword
[Return By Death Actived]
Subaru looked at Al as he spoke. "No, don't mixing does two are bad idea".
Al looked as he spoke. "R.O.B, what did witches say when you came too the hanging".
Subaru then looked as he spoke. "Minerva punched me so hard I was snwr flying too beach are for having you kill me just so we can avoid the mistake".
[Minerva spooked in his head. "And I will do it again darling"]
Al burst out laughing. "Bro, you got punched into a beach area just for that? Damn, Minerva really doesn't hold back, huh?"
Subaru rubbed his neck, still feeling the phantom pain. "Yeah, and trust me, it hurt like hell. She was pissed. Apparently, using Return by Death just to avoid a bad potion mix is 'reckless and irresponsible.' Who knew?"
[Minerva huffed in his head. "You should know by now, darling! Life isn't something you just throw away for convenience!"]
Subaru sighed. "Yeah, yeah, I get it..."
Al leaned against the counter, shaking his head. "Alright, so no mixing Fool and Salvation. Guess that means you really gotta choose, huh?"
Subaru looked at the two potions, now carefully separated on the table. He exhaled slowly, knowing that his choice would determine the path ahead.
"Yeah… It's time to decide."
Sunaur then had an idea. "We make one of them today and the other one tomorrow then I can keep them in the Sin System Inventory".
Al blinked before grinning. "Now that's some big-brain thinking, Bro. You sure that Sin System of yours can store something as volatile as a potion?"
Subaru shrugged. "It can store just about anything, so I don't see why not. Besides, this way, I don't have to rush my decision. I can make both and take my time figuring out which one to drink."
[Satella spoke in his head. "A wise choice, my love."]
[Minerva sighed. "Just don't die again for something stupid."]
Subaru rolled his eyes. "Noted."
He clapped his hands together. "Alright, let's start with Fool today. Then, tomorrow, we'll make Salvation."
Al nodded. "Sounds like a plan. Let's get to brewing, Bro."
