As Subaru sat at the breakfast table, still trying to process how quickly the room had emptied, he noticed a strange sound from outside—like the clatter of countless footsteps, the flapping of wings, and... roaring?
His brows furrowed. What the hell is going on out there?
He pushed back his chair and walked toward the window, peeking through the curtains. What he saw almost made him fall backward.
The entire courtyard of Roswaal's mansion was flooded with messengers, merchants, knights, and commoners, all carrying gifts wrapped in colorful paper or tied with elegant ribbons.
There were carriages loaded with parcels, flying messengers carrying letters, and even knights personally delivering gifts.
One of the knights—wearing full armor—knelt before a confused Ram at the entrance. "Lady Ram, on behalf of the Lugunica Knight Order, we present these gifts to Sir Subaru Natsuki, the Hero of Black Smoke."
Ram, looking mildly irritated but also slightly impressed, simply nodded. "Leave them with the others."
Subaru felt his brain short-circuit.
What the hell?! Since when did I have this many fans?!
Before he could even attempt to make sense of things, a pair of small hands grabbed onto his sleeve.
"Subaru! Subaru! Look!" Meili pulled at him excitedly, her face practically glowing with excitement. "Lucifer and I decorated the entire mansion! Come see!"
Before he could react, she dragged him down the hall, nearly making him trip over himself.
As soon as Subaru entered the main hall, his jaw dropped.
The once elegant, noble interior of Roswaal's mansion had been transformed into a massive birthday celebration.
There were balloons, banners, streamers, glowing lanterns, and massive tables filled with food.
In the center of the hall stood an absurdly large cake, nearly two meters tall, with "Happy Birthday Subaru!" written in bold, chocolate letters.
A massive throne-like chair sat at the main table, obviously meant for him.
Lucifer stood proudly with his arms crossed, grinning. "We made sure everything is perfect for your birthday!"
Subaru blinked rapidly, looking at the insane amount of effort put into this.
"...This is insane. This is way too much. Why did you guys go this far?"
Meili tilted her head. "Huh? What do you mean? This is normal for birthdays, right?"
Subaru opened his mouth to argue but then realized something horrifying—
With how much they all love me, this actually might be normal to them.
Before he could react, a loud BANG came from the front door.
"SUBARUUUUUUUUU!"
Subaru barely had time to turn his head before a blur of white and purple tackled him to the ground.
"Ahhhhhh!" Subaru yelped as Emilia clung to him. "O-Oi, Emilia-tan! Personal space!"
Emilia looked up at him, pouting. "Subaru, why didn't you tell me it was your birthday?!"
Elsa, standing behind her, smirked. "Yes, you should've told us earlier. It would've saved us the trouble of nearly breaking through every store in the Capital to find the perfect gift."
Subaru paled. "Wait... you guys actually did that?!"
Before anyone could respond, Otto burst in through the doors, completely out of breath, holding a wrapped package in his hands.
"I... I made it... in time..." he gasped for air. "Subaru... Happy birthday!"
Behind him, Crusch, Ferris, Anastasia, and Felt entered, each carrying gifts of their own.
Crusch nodded seriously. "A warrior deserves recognition on his day of birth."
Ferris pouted. "You really should've told us, Subaru-kyun! We had to rush to get you a present!"
Anastasia smirked, holding a strange-looking egg in her hands. "I got something special from my trading company. Thought you might like it."
Subaru felt dizzy.
This isn't a birthday party. This is a full-scale festival.!
Then, Reinhard entered.
"...I went through 30 different Divine Blessings before finding the right one," he said, setting a glowing blue crystal on the table.
Subaru grabbed his head. "I am going to pass out."
Inside the realm of the Witches, the panic had reached critical levels.
"Is the cake ready?!" Minerva shouted, her hands glowing with healing magic.
"Do we have enough gifts?!" Carmilla asked, looking nervous.
Echidna stood in the center, giving out orders like a general.
"This is Subaru's first birthday with us! We have to make sure everything is perfect!"
Satella, standing in the shadows, smiled softly. "Yes... it must be perfect."
Back to the Mansion Subaru sat in his oversized "Birthday Throne," completely overwhelmed.
The party had officially begun.
People ate, drank, laughed, and celebrated, all while Subaru himself still tried to process the absurdity of the situation.
Lucifer and Meili sat on either side of him, looking proud of their work.
Ram, still acting as if this was all completely normal, casually ate cake next to Roswaal, who seemed mildly amused by the whole thing.
Rem beamed at him. "Happy birthday, Subaru-kun!"
Emilia, still holding onto his arm, nodded happily. "Happy birthday, Subaru!"
Subaru let out a deep sigh before smiling.
"...You guys really went all out, huh?"
Meili nodded rapidly. "Of course! You're important to us!"
Subaru looked around at all the people who had gathered for him—the ones who cared, the ones who rushed to make this day special.
For a moment, he felt... warm.
Maybe this level of insanity wasn't so bad after all.
And so, Subaru's birthday became the most legendary celebration in Lugunica's history.
Subaru then started to tear up as he looked at them. "Thanks".
Emilia went too him as he spoke. "Are you ok Subaru".
Subaru looked at them with a smile as he spoken. "Yeah, just happy that is all".
They all smiles, to them they makes sense, they all still believe the story that Subaru was from Kararagi, he had Divin Blessing of Sorcery, ne that Kararagi basically trained him too be weapon and he ran and made his way too Lugunica, will all but Al who knew Subaru was a transmigration just like him, but he was not gonna tell anything if Subaru doesn't he won't.
Subaru wiped at his eyes, a shaky laugh escaping his lips. "Man… you guys really went all out, huh?"
Emilia, standing beside him, placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. "Of course! You're important to all of us, Subaru."
The room buzzed with warmth and joy, the entire Roswaal Mansion filled with laughter, the clinking of glasses, and the occasional loud cheers from a few overly enthusiastic guests—mainly Felt and Ferris, who had started some kind of party game involving flipping cups.
Ram, ever the composed one, sat nearby sipping tea. "Barusu crying like a baby... how unsightly."
Rem, who had been quietly watching, offered him a sweet smile. "It's okay, Subaru-kun. You're allowed to cry on your birthday."
Subaru chuckled, sniffling. "Geez, you guys are making it worse. I don't wanna be the guy who cries at his own birthday party!"
Meili grinned mischievously. "Too late! We already saw!"
Lucifer, who had been casually munching on a piece of cake, nodded. "Yep. It's already burned into our memories forever."
Subaru groaned, covering his face. "You guys are the worst."
Elsa, sitting at the side, smirked. "It's a rare sight. Maybe I should carve this moment into my memory."
Subaru paled instantly. "Okay, okay, let's not get too serious about it!"
Otto, having finally caught his breath after rushing to the mansion, let out a laugh. "Hah… after everything you've done, Subaru, you deserve this much celebration."
Reinhard, sitting calmly nearby, gave a small smile. "Agreed. A hero should be recognized."
Subaru rubbed the back of his head, feeling a little embarrassed. "Hero, huh? I don't really feel like one."
Anastasia, still holding onto the strange monster egg she had prepared as a gift, giggled. "Oh? But the people of Lugunica sure seem to think so."
Crusch nodded firmly. "The people admire you, Subaru. As do we."
Subaru, looking around at all the faces—his friends, his allies, the people who had come together just for him—felt a deep warmth in his chest.
Maybe they still didn't know the truth—that he wasn't some Kararagi-trained weapon, or someone with a Divine Blessing of Sorcery.
Maybe they didn't know he was just a guy from another world, someone who had once been nothing special.
But right now, none of that mattered.
He had people who cared for him. People who stood by his side.
And for now... that was more than enough.
Taking a deep breath, Subaru stood up, raising his glass. "Alright, guys. If you all went through this much trouble, then I gotta at least say this—thank you."
The room erupted into cheers.
And with that, Subaru Natsuki's first birthday in Lugunica became the most legendary celebration in history.
Subaru, still slightly dazed from all the cake and drinks, blinked in confusion as he found himself in the Hanging Garden. Unlike usual, the place was strangely quiet, no sign of the Witches at first.
He took a step forward, trying to gather his thoughts—only to nearly trip over his own feet.
"Whoa—"
Before he could fall, Minerva caught him, steadying him with her usual exasperated expression. "Seriously, Subaru, even here you're reckless!"
He barely had time to respond before multiple voices called out at once—
"Happy birthday, love."
Subaru turned and saw them standing there—Satella, Echidna, Minerva, Sekhmet, Daphne, Pandora, and Carmilla—each smiling at him.
Typhon, practically bouncing in excitement, grinned at him. "Happy Birthday, Big Brother!"
Then, another voice joined in.
Able, standing beside Daphne, gave a rare warm smile. "Happy birthday, Dad! Mom made a feast!"
Subaru looked at Daphne with a raised eyebrow. "Really, I thought you would be one eating the food as it was made".
Daphne tilted her head slightly, her ever-present restraints shifting as she responded, "Mmm... I did taste-test a little. But I made sure there was enough for you!"
Subaru sighed, rubbing his temple. "Of course you did."
Echidna smirked as she sipped her tea. "Be grateful, Subaru. Daphne refraining from eating the entire feast is the greatest display of restraint you'll ever witness."
Sekhmet yawned from her seat, waving a lazy hand. "Too much talking. Let's eat before I fall asleep... again."
Minerva crossed her arms. "You better appreciate this, Subaru! We all worked hard for today!"
Pandora giggled, placing a gentle hand on Subaru's shoulder. "This is a moment worth cherishing. A birthday shared with the ones who love you most."
Satella, standing a bit apart from the group, smiled warmly at Subaru. "You deserve happiness, Subaru. Today, we wanted to make sure you knew that."
Subaru felt a lump in his throat. This was different. Birthdays back in his original world had never been this special. Yet here—both in reality and now even in the Hanging Garden—so many people cared about him.
He looked at all of them and grinned. "Alright then! Let's dig in before Daphne changes her mind and eats everything!"
Daphne pouted. "I wouldn't do that… probably."
With laughter filling the air, the Witches, Typhon, and Able all gathered around, and for that moment, Subaru felt truly at home.
Subaru took a deep breath as he spoke. "Even after all of this, there is just something missing".
Pandora looked at him as she spoke. "Your parent's, don't worry dear your getting stronger you will able too bring them too this world, especially seeing your following the pathway of the Fool"
Subaru's breath hitched for a moment as he heard Pandora's words. His parents…
Even after all the warmth and love he had received here, the thought of Kenichi and Naoko Natsuki still weighed on him. He had spent so long running forward, barely taking a moment to acknowledge the hole left in his heart.
"My parents, huh…" Subaru muttered, staring at his hands.
Pandora's voice was gentle but firm. "You're walking the path of the Fool, Subaru. The one who breaks fate's chains and reshapes the world with his own hands. If anyone can pull the impossible, it's you."
Satella nodded, stepping closer. "You'll see them again, Subaru. We believe in you."
Echidna hummed thoughtfully. "The concept of summoning souls across worlds is… complicated. But if it's you, perhaps…"
Minerva crossed her arms, scowling. "Tch. If it's about bringing back people important to you, then just punch through reality until you reach them! Easy."
Subaru chuckled despite himself. "That's your answer to everything, huh, Minerva?"
Minerva huffed. "Because it works!"
Able, who had been quiet, suddenly looked up at Subaru with a determined expression. "Then, when you bring them here… can I meet them too?"
Subaru's heart ached at the question. He crouched down, ruffling the boy's hair with a soft smile. "Yeah… when that day comes, you'll be the first to meet them, kid."
Typhon grinned. "Then you better hurry up, Big Bro! I wanna see what kinda people raised an idiot like you!"
Subaru laughed, shaking his head. Even in a moment like this, they wouldn't let him sulk.
"Yeah, yeah. Just watch me. One day, I'll make the impossible happen."
Typhon looked at him as she spoke. "I mean it is not impossible, we managed too summons you".
Subaru looked at them as he spoken. "Yeah I know, which was also kinda anticlimactic one moment I was in my old world few blinked later I was here in Lugunica".
Echidna chuckled at Subaru's words. "Well, what did you expect? A grand spectacle? Trumpets and divine light announcing your arrival?"
Subaru crossed his arms, rolling his eyes. "I mean, yeah! If I'm getting isekai'd, at least make it dramatic! Instead, I blink, and boom—Lugunica. No truck-kun, no mysterious god, just me standing in a random medieval alley like I took a wrong turn on my way home."
Minerva smirked. "Would you have preferred pain? I can punch you if it makes you feel better."
Subaru raised his hands defensively. "No, no, I'm good, thanks!"
Daphne, still munching on something, tilted her head. "If you want suffering, I can arrange that…~"
"Why do I even talk to you guys?" Subaru muttered, facepalming.
Satella giggled softly, stepping forward. "Still, Subaru… if we were able to bring you here, then maybe… someday, you'll be able to bring them here too."
The room went quiet for a moment as Subaru looked at her, emotions swirling in his eyes. "Yeah… maybe."
Pandora placed a hand on his shoulder, her voice soothing. "You are walking the path of the Fool, Subaru. And fools, as history shows, tend to accomplish the impossible."
Subaru exhaled, shaking his head with a smile. "If that's the case, then I guess I'll just have to be the biggest fool this world has ever seen."
Satella then spoke. "Ok enough of that, let's got on with your birthday celebrations".
Daphne then unlocked her binding they kept her in the coffin as she landed on the ground, as she removed the things cover her golden eyes, will too everyone this was no shock, they had seen her done this multiple times in the hanging garden, she only stays in the coffin because that shit is somehow beyond any logic ridiculously comfortable.
Subaru watched as Daphne stretched her arms, yawning like a cat as she stepped out of the coffin. Her golden eyes gleamed with a lazy satisfaction, and she cracked her neck with a satisfied sigh.
"Ahhh~ Finally out. You guys seriously need to stop locking me in there."
Echidna scoffed, arms crossed. "You literally asked us to put you in the coffin last time because you called it, and I quote, 'the comfiest bed in existence.'"
Daphne smirked, running a hand through her hair. "And I stand by that statement. But since it's a special occasion, I'll make an exception and actually join the party properly."
Subaru chuckled, shaking his head. "You really are something else."
Minerva clapped her hands, impatient as always. "Enough talk! Time for the main event—your birthday feast!"
With that, the entire Hanging Garden shifted. Tables filled with exotic dishes and delicious treats appeared as if responding to their wishes. The whole place glowed with a warm, festive light.
Typhon grabbed Subaru's arm, dragging him toward the table. "Come on, come on! We made all your favorites!"
Subaru blinked. "Wait, how do you know what my favorite foods are—"
Sekhmet, lounging lazily, gave a smirk. "We have our ways, hmmm~?"
Subaru narrowed his eyes at them. "...You guys have been spying on me, haven't you?"
Carmilla blushed, looking away. "M-Maybe...?"
Subaru sighed, but a small, genuine smile formed on his lips. "You guys are the worst."
Satella giggled, hugging his arm. "And yet, you love us anyway."
Subaru shook his head, laughing. "Yeah, yeah. Let's eat before Daphne devours everything herself."
