Teodor opens his eyes after two years in a coma – and nothing is as it should be.
The world he returns to is cold and unfamiliar. Society is ruled by the Gaia system, where people are judged by “circles” – symbols that determine their worth and future. But Teodor has no memories. Ignacy, who claims to be his brother, looks at him with hope. Nulla, who everyone says is his sister, should stir something in him – but all he feels is emptiness.
There is something that fits more than their faces. Brutality comes too easily. Manipulation becomes second nature. The cold precision with which he analyzes his surroundings feels familiar – as if he were an intruder in his own body.
When a chance encounter sets off a chain of events, Teodor follows the trail of his father – a man who was supposed to be dead, yet whose name lingers in whispers. As he uncovers the dark secrets of the world and of himself, he begins to realize that he was never just a victim of this story.
Maybe he was its nightmare.
