Chapter 147: Were You Turned into a Pig Today?
The new professor's welcoming ceremony was held at 6 PM on Monday.
As if to offset the impact of Professor Didi's departure, this welcoming ceremony was exceptionally grand.
Claire herself wasn't particularly enthusiastic about it, but for the development of her alma mater, she endeavored to cooperate.
During the stage address, some unexpected minor incidents occurred that surprised her.
First-year students from the Magus Academy and the Fool's House had actually prepared gifts for her, presenting them to her in front of the entire student body and faculty.
There were also individual students, with flushed faces, who presented her with bouquets of flowers.
Not simply because she was the new professor, but because she was once a student of St. Marian, and furthermore, a hero of humanity!
First-year Magic History classes were held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Claire began preparing her lessons on Monday morning, and by Tuesday afternoon, she had replaced Principal Cynthia, standing on the podium for Magic History.
The students from the four houses felt great reverence for this hero, titled "Beast Sage," and thus were exceptionally well-behaved at the beginning of the class.
Claire smoothly proceeded past the self-introduction phase and began her formal lecture.
Her teaching style was quite similar to Principal Cynthia's; her stories went entirely beyond the textbook, combining entertainment with knowledge.
If one had to point out a flaw, it would be that she had almost no emotional fluctuations, and her tone was rather flat, as if stating facts from an objective standpoint, lacking an engaging quality.
In this regard, she was quite similar to Professor Didi.
All in all, listening for prolonged periods could easily make one drowsy.
But Claire was precisely such a person.
She was intellectual and rational, detached and wise.
After the initial excitement, the young mages no longer seemed so thrilled about the new professor's arrival.
Claire quickly integrated into the academy's atmosphere, winning the favor of a group of students with her graceful image and gentle demeanor.
Although some students disliked her, given the overwhelming trend, no one dared to speak out.
In the blink of an eye, another week passed.
Students gradually adapted to the new professor's arrival.
Claire also gradually adapted to her new identity.
Tuesday afternoon, November 21st.
During her third Magic History class since joining the faculty, Claire finally revealed a glimpse of her true nature.
She turned a student who fell asleep in class into a pig!
Even though it was a plump, cuddly little pig that made you want to pick it up and knead it, a pig was still a pig.
She merely called out a name.
Before anyone could even react.
That student, slumped over his desk, was still immersed in his dream!
He even thought he hadn't woken up!
Anyone who suddenly woke up after falling asleep in class, only to find themselves turned into a pig, would likely have that desire to escape reality.
But the astonishment, shock, fear, and schadenfreude radiating from his classmates around him all gave him an extremely ominous premonition.
It wasn't until Professor Claire Kite called his name for criticism that he vaguely realized what was happening.
Looking at that "oink-oink" little pig, Robert Broheim, who had been on the verge of dozing off himself, shivered violently, almost cried out.
He quickly wiped the drool from his mouth and whispered to Virt, "Virt, I'm awake now, right?"
Virt, who was also drowsy, similarly broke out in a cold sweat.
For the past week or so,
as the craze for the secret passage adventure gradually subsided, the homework assigned by the professors slowly returned to normal amounts.
Once they had free time, Virt and Robert ran to the secret passage every night, engaging in skirmishes and battles of wits with the golems inside.
There were others who entered the secret passage, but their numbers were no longer many and remained within a controllable range.
Virt's treasure hunt also finally made some progress.
But human energy is finite; the secret passage adventures drained their energy, making it difficult for them to concentrate during classes.
From time to time, some people would also be late for the first class in the morning.
Although Virt and Robert weren't late, they were both low on energy.
This manifested as a decline in their academic performance.
But Virt couldn't afford to worry about that anymore.
Because both sets of [Blink Spell] materials he bought with 2000 academic credits had failed!
Although the subsequent [Magic Bullet Spell] was successful.
But he no longer had any academic credits to squander.
He needed his father's hidden treasure!
After this class,
what the new Magic History professor did during class spread like wildfire.
Her previously excellent reputation saw a rapid change in a very short time.
Lower-year students felt extremely terrified, while higher-year students were shocked by Professor Kite's high proficiency in transformation magic.
Other professors would deduct academic credits.
Professor Claire Kite didn't deduct academic credits.
Just turned them into pigs!
Even though the time spent as a pig wasn't long, it would still become a huge blemish on their academy career.
Just thinking that one day after graduation, if they were to accidentally run into a former classmate on the street...
...even if they enthusiastically greeted them, the other person might momentarily forget their name, only to think hard and then suddenly exclaim with a dawning realization:
"I remember now! You're XXX, the one who was turned into a pig!"
The young mages no longer dared to slack off in Magic History class.
In the blink of an eye, another week passed.
Dark had begun to grasp the rudiments of "Magic Language."
He finally had some confidence in crafting the [Blink Spell].
Wednesday afternoon, November 29th.
After making full preparations, Dark began crafting the [Blink Spell] in his dorm room.
For this day, he had purchased an additional set of [Blink Spell] materials last weekend.
The main difficulty in crafting the [Blink Spell] lay in imprinting the Magic Language.
But after self-studying "Magic Language," he was already able to proficiently overcome this hurdle.
The subsequent crafting became straightforward.
Even Dark himself hadn't expected that he would unexpectedly succeed on his very first attempt at crafting the [Blink Spell]!
The [Blink Spell] was a Magic Card that involved spatial jumps.
Mages of the old era who wished to master this type of magic would inevitably need extraordinary talent.
But in the Magus Era, even a beginner like Dark could master it through the crafting of Magic Guiding Cards.
The effect of the [Blink Spell] was very direct: it allowed one to instantly move forward one to three meters.
Besides being used for emergency evasion, its most effective use was to cross obstacles like walls.
If used well, it could even save a life.
Such Magic Cards were naturally the more beneficial.
Therefore, after successfully crafting the first [Blink Spell], Dark immediately began crafting the second one.
However, during the crafting of the second one, an unidentifiable error occurred, directly leading to crafting failure.
Fortunately, the core material wasn't used, so he could restart crafting by simply replenishing some relatively inexpensive basic materials.
He didn't feel discouraged.
Instead, he recorded the entire process.
That same day, he found Professor Kazel, and with the professor's help, identified the error, gaining a deeper understanding of "Magic Language" as well.
Thus, November quietly passed.
