chapter 9

I woke up to the sound of Lem's gentle voice, whispering sweet nothings in my ear. I smiled, feeling a warmth spread through my body as I realized that Liam was bringing me breakfast in bed. "Good morning, beautiful," he said, setting a tray down on the bedside table. "I thought you might need a little pick-me-up after last night's event." I sat up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. "Mmm, that smells amazing," I said, taking in the spread of pancakes, eggs, and fresh fruit on the tray.

he smiled, handing me a cup of steaming hot coffee. "I figured you could use a little stress relief after last night." I laughed, taking a sip of the coffee. "You're the best," I said, feeling grateful for his thoughtfulness.

As I ate breakfast , he couldn't help but gaze at me with adoration. "You were absolutely stunning last night," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "I'm so proud to have you by my side." I blushed, feeling a flutter in my chest. "Thanks, hubby," I said, smiling up at him. "You were pretty amazing yourself."

As I finished up my breakfast, he leaned over and kissed me softly on the lips. "I love you," he whispered. I smiled, feeling happy and content. "I love you too," I replied, snuggling into his side. he turned to me with a smile. "Hey, I was thinking... how about I take you on a movie date later tonight?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with excitement. my heart skipped a beat as I gazed at him, thinking to myself, "He's so romantic and thoughtful!" I couldn't help but feel a flutter in my chest at the prospect of a movie date with the man I loved. But before I could respond, he glanced at his watch and stood up, already dressed for work. "I'm so sorry, wifey, but I have a client to meet with later this morning. We're discussing the lemon-flavored drink project, and I need to make sure everything is perfect."

I nodded understandingly, "It's okay, hubby. I know how important this project is to you. Go take care of business, and we can plan our movie date when you are back."

he smiled, relieved, and leaned in to kiss me softly on the lips. "don't worry about the movie date I already got it covered . And I'll see you later, okay?"

I smiled back at him, feeling happy and content. "Okay, I'll see you later. Have a great meeting!" my eyes widened as I realized something. "Lem, wait a minute," I said, my voice tinged with confusion. "Am I not your personal assistant? You announced it last night, didn't you?" he looked at me, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Yes, you are my PA, Cassy. But I'm in charge, remember?"

I felt a slight flush rise to my cheeks. "Of course, I remember. But shouldn't I be starting work today? I mean, you did announce me as your PA last night."

he chuckled, walking over to me and placing a gentle hand on my shoulder. "You're eager to start, I like that. But today, I want you to take it easy. You can start your PA work tomorrow, or whenever I need you. For now, just relax and enjoy your day."

I raised an eyebrow, feeling a bit surprised by his response. "Are you sure? I don't want to just sit around doing nothing."

he smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I'm positive, Cassy. You can consider today a welcome-to-the-team day. Just take it easy, and we'll get started tomorrow. Okay?" I nodded, feeling a bit relieved. "Okay, if you're sure..."

I am, he said as he gave me a kiss on the forehead and left for work.

"I just can't believe it," Lucy said, her voice rising in indignation. "Lem has made Cassy his PA. It's ridiculous. She's not qualified for the job." Lucy sitting with mom and dad in the living room, sipping a cup of coffee and fuming about the previous night event

mom and dad exchanged glances, he did? dad asked , his eyes locked on hers. "And now, with Cassy as Laim's PA, it's going to be even harder for us to get that contract. She's going to be in charge of making decisions, and we all know she's not going to make it easy for us."

Lucy nodded, determination etched on her face. "I'll do whatever it takes to get that contract. and Liam as well,Cassy is not going to stand in my way."

"Lucy, honey, you have to let go of this obsession with Laim," mom said gently. "He's now married to Cassy ". can't you just let it go?.

Lucy's face reddened with anger. "This has nothing to do with me being obsessed with Lem," she spat. "It's about the fact that cassy is completely unqualified for the job. She's just going to mess everything up." and yes am obsess with Liam and no I can't let it go.

dad sighed. "Lucy, you just have to get us this contract okay, I don't care how you do it.

Lucy crossed her arms, her jaw set in determination. "Don't worry, Father. I've got a plan. As far as I'm concerned, we're not going to let Cassy stand in our way. We'll get the contract, and I will make sure of that." she stood up, smoothing out her dress and grabbing her purse. "I'll be back later,I have a client to speak with."

mom nodded, a hint of curiosity in her eyes. "Be careful, dear. And don't forget to keep us updated on your progress." Lucy smiled, winking at mom. "I will, Mother. Don't worry."

With that, Lucy left the house, her heels clicking on the pavement as she made her way to her car. She got in, started the engine, and pulled out of the driveway, her mind already focused on the task at hand. Lucy pulled up to the Mega Cooperative building, her heart racing with excitement. She had told mom and dad that she was meeting a client, but in reality, she was meeting Marcus Liam's cousin, one of the manager at Mega Cooperative.

As she stepped out of the car, Marcus emerged from the building, a warm smile on his face. "Lucy, great to see you," he said, extending a hand. Lucy shook his hand, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "Thanks, Marcus. I'm glad we could meet."Marcus nodded, gesturing for her to follow him. "Let's go to my office and discuss the plans.

As they walked into the building, Lucy couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. She had been working towards this moment for weeks, and finally, she was going to make it happen. They rode the elevator to the top floor, where Marcus's office was located. As they stepped out, Lucy was greeted by the friendly faces of Marcus's team.

"Hi, Lucy," they chimed in unison, smiling at her.

Lucy smiled back, feeling a sense of belonging. "Hi, everyone. Thanks for having me."

Marcus led her to his office, where they spent the next hour discussing their plans on bringing Liam down. As they wrapped up their meeting, Marcus stood up, a smile on his face. "that's a great plan and also having a plan B am impressed with you, let's have lunch together.

Lucy grinned, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation. "sure, Marcus. Let's do it."

As Marcus and Lucy walked into the restaurant, they were immediately greeted by the aroma of freshly cooked food. They were led to their table by the window, but just as they were about to sit down, Lucy spotted someone familiar sitting alone at a nearby table.

"Marcus, look," Lucy whispered, nudging him discreetly. "It's Liam."

Marcus followed her gaze and nodded. "Ah, yes. Let's go say hello."

They walked over to Laim's table, and Lucy smiled brightly as she approached him. "Liam, fancy running into you here," she said, her voice dripping with sweetness.

Laim looked up from his lunch, a hint of surprise on his face. "Lucy, Marcus. What brings you two here?"

Marcus pulled out a chair and sat down, gesturing for Lucy to do the same. "We were just grabbing lunch. Mind if we join you?" he asked.

Laim shook his head, smiling wryly. "Not at all. Please, have a seat."

"Hey, Lem, where's Cassy today? I thought she was your new PA," Lucy asked, her voice dripping with innocence.

Lem looked up from his lunch, a hint of a smile on his face. "Oh, Cassy''s taking it easy today. She's starting officially tomorrow."

Lucy raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh, I see. Well, I'm sure she'll be great. You two must be getting along well, huh?" she asked, trying to sound casual.

Lem nodded, his expression neutral. "We're doing fine, thanks for asking."

Lucy leaned in, her voice taking on a flirtatious tone. "You know, Liam, I was just thinking... maybe we could discuss some business strategies over lunch sometime? Just the two of us?" she asked, batting her eyelashes.

Laim looked taken aback, but he politely declined. "I appreciate the offer, Lucy, but I think I'll have to pass." if there's anything you want to talk about, you can say it now that you have the chance.

Lucy smiled sweetly at Lem, trying to keep the conversation light and flirtatious. But beneath the surface, she was calculating her next move.

"about that, Lem, I was thinking... maybe we could discuss the contract our company proposed to Mega Cooperative?" Lucy asked, her voice dripping with innocence.

Lem raised an eyebrow, his expression neutral. "What about it?"

Lucy leaned in, her voice taking on a persuasive tone. "Well, I think it would be a great opportunity for both our companies to work together. And I'm sure we could come to a mutually beneficial agreement."

Laim nodded thoughtfully, but his response was noncommittal. "I'll think about it, Lucy. But right now, we have a lot of other partnerships and contracts to prioritize."

Lucy's face fell, but she tried to keep her cool. "Oh, I see. Well, I understand. But I hope you'll consider our proposal. We're a great company to work with."

Liam smiled politely, but his tone was firm. "Like I said, Lucy, we'll consider it. But right now, you have to understand that we're looking at bigger partnerships with more established companies. You're a big company, and while you have potential, you're not our top priority at the moment."

Lucy's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with ways to get Laim to reconsider. but she knew either ways after their plans work out, she would get the contract and also, she would get Liam.

if you don't mind I would like to excuse myself, Liam said, I forget I have few errands to do.

sure Liam, we can catch up next time

Marcus replied as Liam took his leave.

"told you is not going to be easy" Marcus said as he turned to Lucy.

with a confident smile on Lucy's face, don't worry Marcus, when the plan is done, we would have the winning hand and he would have no choice but to come running to me.
