Chapter 13: A New Challenge

Lucas wasn't sure how it happened, but somehow, he found himself standing in front of the school's club board, scanning the list of activities. He hadn't committed to anything yet, but after yesterday's conversation, the idea wouldn't leave his mind.

"Thinking of joining one?" Emily's voice startled him.

He turned to see her grinning at him. "Maybe. I don't know yet."

"Well, I vote for the art club," she said. "It's relaxing, and no one forces you to talk."

Lucas raised an eyebrow. "Are you saying I need a quiet space?"

Emily laughed. "I'm saying you'd be good at it."

Before Lucas could respond, Theo appeared, slinging an arm around his shoulders. "Dude! Drama club. It's the best one."

Lucas made a face. "No way."

Theo pouted. "Come on, you'd make a great mysterious villain."

"No." Lucas shook his head firmly. "Absolutely not."

Then, slowly, he picked up a pencil and started to sketch.
