Chapter 60: A Warm Welcome Home

The morning sun bathed the grand office apartment in golden light as she stirred awake, her arms still securely wrapped around her sleeping son. She gazed at his peaceful face, a soft smile touching her lips. She brushed a few strands of hair from his forehead and pressed a gentle kiss on his soft skin.

"My little angel," she whispered, carefully sitting up to avoid waking him.

After freshening up, she ordered a light breakfast for both of them. Just as she was about to wake him up, he slowly opened his sleepy eyes and blinked at her.

"Good morning, my love," she said sweetly, stroking his hair.

"Mama…" he mumbled, rubbing his eyes before snuggling closer to her.

She chuckled softly and hugged him tightly. "Come on, my sweetheart. Let's eat breakfast and go home. Everyone must be waiting for us."

Hearing the word 'home,' he brightened up instantly. She helped him freshen up and dressed him in a cute, comfortable outfit before carrying him out of the apartment. As they stepped out of the building, their luxurious car was already waiting for them. She settled into the car with him in her arms, and they drove towards home.

The journey was peaceful, with him resting against her, his tiny arms wrapped around her. She hummed softly, caressing his back as she gazed out the window, lost in thought. Soon, they reached their mansion.

The moment she stepped inside, she was surprised to see her husband and daughters all at home, sitting in the grand living room. Not a single one of them had gone to work.

She frowned, looking at them with questioning eyes. "Why are you all at home? Shouldn't you be at work?"

Her husband and daughters exchanged nervous glances before her husband stood up and approached her with a warm smile. "Welcome home, darling," he said softly, leaning in to kiss her cheek and then gently ruffling their son's hair.

She narrowed her eyes. "Don't change the topic. Why are none of you at work? You all have responsibilities."

The eldest daughter stepped forward with a sheepish grin. "Mama, we all decided to stay home today."

She crossed her arms. "And why is that?"

The second daughter chimed in. "Because we wanted to see our little brother and spend the whole day with him!"

The protagonist, who had been silently listening while nestled in his mother's arms, blinked in surprise. "For me?" he asked softly.

His father smiled and caressed his head. "Yes, my boy. For you. We missed you last night and couldn't wait for you to come home. So, we decided that instead of working, we'd all stay and spend time with you."

His little lips parted in awe, his innocent eyes shimmering with emotion. His mother sighed, shaking her head. "You all are so irresponsible. Do you know how important your work is? You can't just abandon everything—"

"Mama!" the youngest daughter interrupted, pouting. "Work is important, but our little brother is more important!"

"Yes!" another daughter added. "We just wanted to be with him. It's been so long since we've had a whole day to just be together."

Her husband placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Darling, we understand work is important, but our family is just as precious. And he—" he looked at their son lovingly, "—is the heart of our family."

She sighed, her gaze softening as she looked at her son, who was now looking at his father and sisters in awe. He had never experienced something like this before—people choosing him over work, prioritizing him over everything.

His tiny fingers curled around his mother's dress as he looked up at her with hopeful eyes. "Mama… can we stay together today?"

Her heart melted instantly. How could she possibly say no to that face?

She sighed in defeat and nodded. "Alright. Just for today."

The entire room erupted in cheers. His sisters rushed to him, each of them planting kisses on his cheeks and showering him with affection. His father chuckled, shaking his head at their excitement.

The protagonist giggled, his heart filled with a warmth he had never known before. He had a family. A family that truly loved him.

The rest of the day was spent in pure joy. They played games, shared stories, and even cooked together. His mother, despite initially scolding them, eventually joined in, enjoying every moment spent with her family.

As night fell, the protagonist sat on the couch, feeling sleepy but overwhelmingly happy. His mother pulled him into her lap, hugging him close. "Did you have fun, my love?"

He nodded sleepily. "Yes, Mama. I love you."

She kissed his forehead, her heart swelling with love. "I love you too, my baby. Always."

His father and sisters gathered around them, each of them whispering their love for him. And for the first time in a long time, he felt truly, completely safe.

As he drifted into sleep in his mother's warm embrace, the family sat together, cherishing the moment. Because no matter what the future held, they knew one thing for certain—family would always come first.

And he would never be alone again.
