Chapter 28:

While Julius and Audrey were searching for the non-existent secrets of the Jacob family, Klein had just finished a day's work and was returning home.

By the way, he had completed the advancement ceremony and had officially become a'Clown.'

"Without Julius Astorio, work has become easier." Lying on the bed, Klein rested his head on his arms and couldn't help but think to himself.

Everything seemed to be on track.

He became a "clown," and his salary was several times higher than before. The family had also moved into a new house with their own independent rooms. Tingen was peaceful and calm, with no Witches or evil gods...

Klein took a deep breath. "Good day."

As soon as he finished speaking, a sudden explosion sounded from outside the window!

Klein was startled, and his eyes, which had just been closed, snapped open instantly.

He was momentarily stunned, then without hesitation, grabbed the coat hanging on the rack and quickly left the house before Benson and Melissa could leave their rooms.

"What on earth is going on?!" All the spirituality in his body was waning, and Klein felt a surge of worry.

He hurried to Blackthorn Security Company, where he saw Leonard, who had the same hurried look.

"Something big happened." Leonard was no longer his usual carefree self.

He stared out the window. "Something bad has entered Tingen."

That was the equivalent of saying nothing at all.

Klein rushed in without thinking.

At that moment, a flash of light crossed Klein's mind, and he instinctively placed his hand on his chest.

There, an ordinary black iron cross was resting.

Leonard noticed something odd about Klein and turned his head to ask, "What's wrong with you?"

Klein's face turned pale, and he forced a smile. "No... it's nothing."

Without further explanation, he hurried into the bathroom of Blackthorn Security Company, unbuttoned his shirt, and pulled out the cross necklace.

However, what they saw was that the previously peaceful black iron cross was now emitting ominous black energy.

'Julius Astorio is trying to kill me!'

That was Klein's first thought.

But almost immediately, he rejected it.

If Julius Astorio wanted to do something to him, he would have done it already, especially while in Tingen. Why would he send a problematic Beyonder item instead?

"So, this cross is related to the strange occurrence tonight?" Klein gritted his teeth.

Just as he was thinking about it, the cross in his hand suddenly became hot.

Klein didn't check in time and instinctively let go of it.

The cross turned into a beam of light and flew out through the bathroom window.

Klein: ...

Meanwhile, on the other side...

"Lavenus, stop struggling; you have no way to escape!" Dunn Smith's face was filled with an unprecedented seriousness.

Beside him, several senior Nighthawks had already fallen to the ground, severely injured.

Even Dunn was riddled with wounds, close to collapsing.

Opposite him, the scammer Lavenus sneered.

Without speaking, he yanked the woman next to him into his arms.

Dunn Smith's eyes narrowed.

It was the unconscious woman who had sent out several spiritual fluctuations, which had detonated the surrounding gas pipelines and caused multiple explosions.

If the Nighthawks hadn't anticipated this and used Beyonder means to evacuate the surrounding residents, the casualties from that round of explosions alone would have exceeded 100.

"We can't go on like this..." Dunn Smith gritted his teeth, pulling out his remaining charms.

He didn't understand why Lavenus, a mere Sequence 8, was so difficult to handle.

It wasn't that Lavenus was difficult to deal with; it was that the woman he used as a shield was tough to handle.

Dunn spoke in a deep voice, "You actually took advantage of a pregnant woman, Lavenus. Do you think that makes you a man?"

As he distracted Lavenus with words, he threw the night spell in his hand and activated it in ancient Hermetic language.

"Deep sleep!"

Dunn was truly out of options. Otherwise, he would have used other methods, but the deep sleep spell was his last resort.

Lavenus felt his eyelids grow heavy. In desperation, he didn't care anymore and punched his fiancée.

Megose instinctively arched her back.

Her bulging belly swelled like a drum, emitting a vague and ominous spiritual wave.

Without Ince Zangwill and Sealed Artifact 008, for some unknown reason, Megose still managed to conceive the heir of the True Creator, just as in the original work.

However, one difference from the original work was that the current true descendants of the Creator were far less powerful than before, and their desire to be born was weaker.

As if they were waiting for something.

Dunn Smith, already injured, was knocked out of the way by the spiritual fluctuations, his body flying like a kite with its string cut.

He lost consciousness immediately.

Seeing this, Lavenus finally relaxed.

But just then, a beam of light suddenly streaked past and headed straight for Megose.

In Lavenus' terrified eyes, the beam of light transformed into a palm-sized black iron cross that stuck firmly to Megose's belly.

Waves of black energy emerged from Megose's stomach. Just sensing the aftermath of this black energy made Lavenus' eyeballs burst, causing two trails of bloody tears to run down his face.

Not only that, his entire body began to swell, and an indescribable change occurred.

In the end, he was reduced to a foul-smelling puddle of black water.

The black iron cross twisted for a moment before its surface became smooth, condensing into a figure whose face could not be discerned...

Chapter 28:

When Klein rushed to the scene using divination, Dunn was left with only one breath.

"Captain!" Klein panicked and hurried to Dunn Smith's side.

"Klein?" Hearing the call, Dunn opened his swollen eyes with great effort and forced out a smile that was uglier than crying. "Look, Klein, your captain saved Tingen today."

After saying that, his head tilted to the side, and he was about to die before Klein's eyes.

Looking at Dunn's haggard face, as the scenes from his recent 'travel' unfolded in his mind, Klein's brain completely shut down.

"The so-called guardians are just a group of poor people struggling, always fighting against danger and madness."

"Everything has a price, especially becoming Beyonder."

Countless memories resurfaced.

Finally, it was Julius Astorio's face.

A flash of inspiration struck.

Klein trembled as something clicked in his mind. He immediately communicated with Gray Fog and obtained the 'tracing diamond' stored in the mysterious palace!

"The more decisive you are, the better the recovery effect will be." He repeated the phrase silently and pressed the diamond directly against Dunn's chest.

Using his spirituality to activate the Beyonder power contained within, a dazzling light flashed, and Dunn's injuries miraculously healed!

Not only that, his tattered clothes began regenerating at an astonishing rate.

"Incredible..." Klein stared blankly at everything unfolding before him, unable to suppress his awe.

After receiving treatment, Dunn slowly opened his eyes and asked, "Am I... already in the goddess' kingdom?"

"Not yet, Captain. It's not that the goddess doesn't want to welcome you. It's just not your time yet." Klein offered a bitter smile.

Regardless, it was a relief that the person could be saved.

"I don't understand." Dunn, half-dead but not cold, shook his head and looked around.

The Nighthawks who had been on duty with him were still scattered in disarray, uncertain if they were alive or dead.

But the culprits behind all this—Lavenus and that strange woman—were nowhere to be found...

"Klein, leave me alone. Go help the others!" Dunn came to his senses and pushed Klein away.

Klein didn't hesitate and quickly ran to his colleagues at high speed.

Unfortunately although most of them were spiritually drained and unconscious, one person had already died.

Seeka Tron.

This senior had once gifted Klein a handmade wood carving when he officially joined the Blackthorn Security Company.

But now, Klein fell into an unspeakable silence as he looked at Seeka Tron's lifeless body.

He wondered, if only there had been another 'traceable diamond'...

"It turns out there's nothing I can do." Klein knelt on one knee in front of his colleague's body, helplessly gazing at his hands.

An overly comfortable life had made him gradually forget the harsh reality of the world.

At that moment, Dunn, fully recovered, approached and placed a hand on Klein's shoulder.

"Don't blame yourself," he said softly. "It's not your fault..."

Gritting his teeth slightly, Dunn whispered in a voice only he could hear, "It's my fault."

Klein felt the weight of those words and, with a trembling voice, replied, "Captain, I couldn't save him."

"I know." Dunn applied a slight pressure to Klein's shoulder. "But you saved me."

Though he didn't fully understand how Klein had done this, Dunn knew that his miraculous recovery was undoubtedly thanks to Klein.

But now was not the time for explanations.

The priority was to evacuate the injured as quickly as possible.

Klein nodded.

He was about to return to Blackthorn Security Company to fetch reinforcements, but halfway there, something on the ground caught his eye.

It was a black iron cross, its surface uneven. A figure whose face could not be discerned was hanging upside down on the cross, emitting bursts of black energy.

Klein's heart tightened.

He glanced back and saw that Dunn was fully focused on attending to the wounded. With a sigh of relief, Klein bent down, swiftly picked up the cross, and stuffed it into the box Julius had given him.

"We need to get details from that guy!" Klein thought to himself as he ran.

---

On the other side at the secret treasure of the 'Jacob family'

Mouse demigod Flora Jacob stared at the figure wearing a pointed hat and holding a monocle in front of her, filled with horror. She screamed, "You are Amon!"

"Congratulations on the correct answer." Amon's clone, who had been waiting there for a long time, smiled casually.

He gazed down condescendingly at the last 'thief' of the Jacob family and, in a tone that resembled casual conversation, complained, "Do you know how many years I've been waiting here?"

After a brief pause, he changed the subject. "Of course, as long as I get to see the expression on your face right now, after you've learned the truth... it'll all have been worth the wait."

Chapter 28:

Not far away, Audrey and Susie, whose figures were concealed by Julius's special means, didn't dare to make a sound.

The duo—one person and one dog—stared at Amon's clone in stunned silence, feeling a chill creep up from the soles of their feet to the crown of their heads.

They had never seen such a vile... creature.

Although Amon appeared human, to Audrey and Susie, the being before them, who was constantly adjusting his monocle, was nothing more than a terrifying creature wearing human skin.

"This is adventure," Julius leaned in and whispered in Audrey's ear, "The kind you've been expecting."

Audrey shuddered. This was not the adventure she had imagined.

Shouldn't they be collecting treasures, feeling a sense of accomplishment after overcoming hardships?

Hands in his pockets, Julius released his invisibility.

Sensing the change, Amon's clone and the rat demigod turned their heads to the newcomer who had appeared in the secret room.

"Who are you?" The Amon clone had been stationed in the Jacob family's secret room and had lost contact with the other Amon, so he didn't know of Julius's presence.

After a moment of thought, the rat demigod seemed to realize something and exclaimed, "It's you! You were the one who knocked me out at the banquet and threw me here!"

"First, I didn't knock you out; I blocked your five senses," Julius corrected sternly. "Second, I didn't throw you here. I've been following you all along, silently observing your acting."

This piqued Amon's clone's interest.

He pinched his monocle and said, "Interesting. Who are you? An heir from some family? A Twilight Hermit?"

Scanning Julius from head to toe, he added, "Wait, you can't be Amon!"

Upon hearing this, Julius took out his own monocle and fixed it in his eye socket. "What do you think?"

Amon's clone blinked. "It's very similar, but I'm not sure."

Don't doubt it; Amon *could* deceive himself, after all.

Julius smiled, subtly activating the spiritual remnants of the Time Worm in his pocket.

Amon's expression grew more confused.

The rat demigod immediately grew fearful.

One Amon wasn't enough—now there was another? What evil had she committed?

She had worked her way up to Sequence 4 using incomplete knowledge, hoping to restore the Jacob family's treasures. Yet fate was cruel.

"This... I won't accept this!" Perhaps it was the build-up of frustration, but the rat demigod suddenly became resolute.

Her target shifted to the Amon before her.

But the ideal is always full, while reality remains thin. Amon had once devoured the entire Jacob family, including the last one.

Gravity materialized from nowhere. Amon opened his mouth and sucked out the rat demigod's soul, swallowing it whole.

In an instant, Sequence 4—her body died and her soul was obliterated.

Meanwhile, Amon's clone, nourished by this power, grew stronger.

He turned to Julius, smiling. "Thank you for the gift. I liked it very much."

"As long as you liked it." Julius's smile didn't waver. "If you ate her, you'll probably have a few more Time Worms inside you."

Amon froze for a moment, then returned to his usual expression. "That's theoretically true. So, you're not Amon?"

"Guess," Julius responded.

Amon wasn't interested in guessing.

Instead, he acted immediately.

He first stole Julius's intent to retaliate, then stole the distance between them!

In almost the blink of an eye, Amon's clone stood before Julius.

Julius's face remained expressionless, not giving the Amon clone the time of day.

Amon's clone smiled faintly. "You are mine."

But the next second, his foot slipped, and he crashed face-first into the ground.

Audrey and Susie: !!

Julius was about to be killed. Unexpectedly, the monocled man—who had looked so dangerous—was the one at a disadvantage.

"Chaos Walker?" Amon's clone clicked his tongue.

With his knowledge, he immediately understood that his misfortune was due to Julius's Beyonder ability.

Wheel of Fortune Pathway Sequence 3, Chaos Walker, could control both "good luck" and "bad luck," bringing good fortune to oneself and ill luck to the enemy.

Julius smiled but said nothing.

Although Julius's physical strength was only that of Sequence 6, having access to his large account allowed him to adjust his personality and abilities freely.

Amon's clone decided to stop playing around.

Sequence 3 was about the same strength as him.

Though he didn't think he'd lose to a Wheel of Fortune Pathway saint, this battle was certainly difficult.

"Isn't this path for those hiding in the shadows, waiting for advancement? Why are you breaking tradition?" Amon's clone quickly regained his footing and sneered.

"It's not a turtle," Julius corrected patiently. "It's a snake."

"I think I understand this better than you do," Amon's clone said, reaching out to touch something on Julius.

Looking down, he saw a dead rat.

Yes, the same rat that had once parasitized Flora Jacob.

Amon's clone paused, then realized that he was still under the effects of "chaos" and hadn't yet escaped it.

That small flaw was enough for several transparent silk threads to latch onto Amon's clone.

"Spirit Threads? No! What is this?" Amon's clone was baffled.

With his knowledge, he couldn't even identify these transparent silk threads.

Julius tugged on one of the threads, and Amon's clone immediately performed a series of hilariously awkward movements.

Including, but not limited to, a left kick, a right whip kick, and a left jab...

Audrey and Susie, from a distance, nearly burst out laughing.

But understanding the gravity of the situation, they covered their mouths and silently observed the battle between the two saints, keenly aware of their Spectator role.

Meanwhile, the potion they had taken was rapidly being digested.

"This is bad." Despite being controlled, Amon's clone showed no panic.

Instead, he began to threaten Julius. "You're definitely not Sequence 3. Are you Sequence 2, or perhaps Sequence 1?

Be honest—are you the reboot of Will Auceptin?

Hehe, if he knew you were here, that stupid snake wouldn't sit idly by."

There were only two "Snake of Mercurys" in the world: Will Auceptin and 'Tail Eater' Ouroboros.

The Sequence 1 figures of the Wheel of Fortune Pathway had been battling for thousands of years, vying for the divine throne.

Of course, Will Auceptin was at a disadvantage, and the "stupid snake" Amon referred to was Ouroboros.

But Julius wasn't truly Will Auceptin, so he didn't care about the threats.

Without wasting time on nonsense, Julius yanked the thread and pulled out the Time Worm that was protecting Amon's clone's spirituality.

Amon's clone shattered instantly, his consciousness dissolving into nothingness.

Julius, ever patient, collected his "trophies."

The transparent worm, made of twelve segments, looked unremarkable at first glance, but felt pleasantly bouncy when pinched.

Having gathered so many Time Worms, Julius considered whether to turn them into a bracelet...

"Is this the end?" Audrey and Susie couldn't help but feel a tinge of regret.

They had been watching intently.

Had Julius not had special protection, witnessing such an Beyonder battle would have likely caused them to lose control.

Julius turned and waved at Audrey and Susie. "Come here."

Audrey and Susie exchanged looks and cautiously approached Julius.

Julius held up the worm in his hand and said, "I promised you a share of the spoils. Here, take this worm."

After a brief pause, he added, "If you're unsure how to process it, I can help you turn it into an Beyonder item for free."

"Really? That's great!" Audrey exclaimed, thrilled.

As a lady, she had always been squeamish about things like bugs.

Julius selected two of the Time Worms, connected them, and fashioned a stylish crystal bracelet—perfectly in line with the latest trends in the Kingdom of Loen.

Just as he was about to explain the bracelet's effects to Audrey, a man in a simple linen robe—tall, thin, with silver hair down to his vest—quietly appeared in the secret room.

Chapter 28:

The visitor had a striking appearance: soft facial features, a gentle expression tinged with indifference, a tall and slender figure, and silver hair that cascaded down to his vest. He wore a simple, plain linen robe, with overlapping wings of light on his back.

Julius waved his hand, teleporting Audrey and Susie, who had been too stunned to react, back to Backlund.

He then turned his gaze toward the newcomer and spoke calmly, "Is something wrong?"

Ourolius studied Julius for a moment. After a long pause, he said coldly, "You are not Will Asceptin."

He pondered briefly before adding, "Why do you carry the breath of the Lord?"

Ourolius, being a follower of the True Creator, naturally sensed the presence of the Creator's influence on Julius. Mr. Qiao, as it happens, shares an intricate connection with the True Creator—something Ourolius was keenly aware of.

Julius blinked and replied, "Guess."

Ourolius frowned slightly, his curiosity piqued. If he hadn't known the Sequence 3 standing before him belonged to the Wheel of Fortune Pathway, he might have mistaken Julius for a certain Amon.

"I don't want to guess," Ourolius said calmly, his gaze fixed on Julius. "I'm just curious."

Julius raised an eyebrow. "Curious about what?"

"I'm curious about your relationship with the Lord, and I'm curious about your fate... Why does it seem so..." Ourolius searched for the right word, "weird?"

If the 'fate trajectory' could be visualized as a line, most people would follow it straight from beginning to end, with a few twists or turns along the way, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Beyonder beings like him and Will Asceptin, however, exist beyond the usual path, able to reset their destinies.

But Julius's 'fate trajectory' at first glance, it seemed like a normal, straight line. Upon closer inspection, however, it looked slightly distorted, almost as if... it didn't make sense at all.

It was a mess, a series of nonsensical characters.

Ourolius wondered if this was the result of the Wheel of Fortune Pathway's unique activation, but something didn't add up.

The 'Dice of Probability,' the unique Wheel of Fortune Pathway, was supposed to be lost, not in anyone's possession.

Really... strange.

Julius tilted his head, looking amused. "That's it? You're making a big deal out of nothing. If there's nothing important, I'll be on my way."

"You can't leave." Ourolius stopped him.

But the next second, a sharp black light took the form of a sword, appearing directly in front of Julius.

Ourolius' expression faltered, his voice catching in his throat. "The power of the Lord!"

Julius sneered. "If the child misbehaves, I'll discipline him. Don't make me do it."

Ourolius fell silent, realizing Julius's true strength.

Julius nonchalantly withdrew the Creator's spiritual remnants and vanished.

The 'Snake of Mercury' remained in place for a long while, lost in thought. Finally, he let out a sigh.

"Lord, when can I return to Your kingdom?"

---

Back in the Kingdom of Loen, in Backlund.

Normally, a lady's boudoir would never allow the opposite sex inside, except for family members. But Audrey didn't care about such formalities at that moment.

She looked at Julius, who had suddenly appeared in her room, with excitement bubbling in her voice. "Mr. Julius, what happened just now!?"

"You're too weak to handle the secret of that situation," Julius replied with a shake of his head.

Audrey's shoulders slumped in disappointment.

Julius quickly changed the subject. "At the next party, with the protection of 'that adult,' I can tell you everything that happened today."

Audrey's spirits lifted immediately.

Despite the twists and turns, the outcome had been satisfying.

'Mouse Demigod,' 'Treasure Hunt,' 'Trap,' 'Battle of Saints,' 'Mysterious Man'...

"Oh, by the way, you left in a hurry earlier, so I didn't get a chance to give you this," Julius said with a smile as he handed Audrey a crystal bracelet. "This is a Sequence 5-level Beyonder item called the 'Suicide Bracelet.'"

As its name suggests, it can only serve one function: to substitute for death. However, the side effect is that when using it, you must wear something to place over your eye socket, such as a monocle. If you don't, you risk being killed by a parasitic mystical consciousness."

Given that this Beyonder item was crafted from the Worm of Time inside Amon's body, it certainly couldn't be as harmless as some of the gadgets Julius had made before.

Audrey ran her fingers over the smooth surface of the bracelet, her eyes alight with wonder.

A Sequence 5 Beyonder item with almost no side effects—she felt as though it granted her a second life!

No, actually, counting the 'Vitality Gold' she'd purchased previously, it was more like her third life.

'Mr. Destiny' truly was generous.

With a bright smile, Audrey raised her skirt and bowed slightly to Julius. "Thank you."

Susie stood quietly by the side, silently observing. She couldn't bring herself to remove her vest in front of the Tarot Club.

Julius waved his hand dismissively. "No need to thank me. This is what we agreed upon."

He glanced out the window, took off his hat, and said, "It's late, so I'll be going."

He opened a portal, then seemed to remember something and turned back. "If Miss Audrey is free, you may want to attend the literary salon I'll be holding in a couple of days. I'd be delighted if you could make it."

Audrey didn't hesitate. "Of course, I'll definitely attend!"

Julius smiled and disappeared through the portal.

Left alone in the room, Audrey reverted to her girlish nature. Without bothering to remove her shoes, she flopped onto the bed.

Susie, still worried, couldn't help but say, "Audrey, the Beyonder world is very dangerous. Your mindset isn't right."

The big golden retriever recalled the traps and dangers in the "Secret Treasure of the Jacob Family," as well as the terrifying humanoid monster wearing a monocle. He silently swore that, barring any exceptional circumstances, he would never step foot in such places again.

"I know," Audrey replied, sitting up with a smile. "But it's exciting, don't you think?"

No amount of reading books could compare to actually experiencing it firsthand.

If Susie knew the term 'rebellious phase,' she might have better understood Audrey's mentality at that moment.

Chapter 28:

It was ten o'clock in the morning, and the sun was shining brightly.

Xio Derecha stood in front of the Astorio Manor, a troubled expression on her face as she rubbed the hilt of the sword at her waist.

Though she had prepared herself mentally for this moment, she still hesitated when it came time to act.

"Xio, are you really sure about this?" someone asked.

"It has to be this way; this is your only chance!" came the reply.

"But..."

"No buts. Do you want to uncover the truth from all those years ago? To expose the hidden culprit?" the voice urged.

"Think it over."

"Then do it! If you want something, you have to pay the price!"

After convincing herself once again, Xio took a deep breath and firmly pressed the doorbell.

Moments later, an elderly gentleman dressed as a butler appeared, asking politely, "Miss, how may I help you?"

"I am Xio Derecha, Mr. Julius's... friend," Xio answered, a little uncomfortable. She quickly adjusted her expression. "Is Mr. Julius home?"

"Master is at home, but if you don't mind me asking, do you have an appointment?" the housekeeper inquired, glancing down at her.

"No," Xio replied.

"Ah, understood." The old butler opened the door. "Welcome, Miss Derecha, to Astorio Manor."

It was basic etiquette not to turn away guests, though it remained to be seen whether she would actually meet the owner.

The housekeeper led Xio to a guest room, where tea was served and refreshments were laid out. He then apologized and went off to find the master.

After a short while, the butler returned with a genuine smile and said, "Miss Derecha, the master is waiting for you in the kitchen."

"The kitchen?" Xio was a bit confused.

The butler explained, "The master prefers to sleep until he wakes up naturally, and it's now time for his breakfast."

Xio immediately understood. Julius Astorio was quite similar to her family's "salty fish," who could sleep for up to fifteen hours a day...

Upon entering the kitchen, Xio saw Julius, his hair slightly disheveled, in a rare sight.

Julius greeted her, "It's been a while! Miss Xio, you're still full of energy. Have you eaten? Would you like to join me for breakfast?"

Xio opened her mouth, as though about to say something, but hesitated and then spoke cautiously, "I already had breakfast before coming here."

She had just bought a loaf of white bread for 5 soles and a box of sweet milk for 2 soles.

Looking at the fifteen or so extravagant dishes spread out on the table, Xio couldn't help but secretly think, *High-Sequence Beyonder people sure aren't short on money.*

"Oh, well, you can do as you please," Julius said casually, turning his attention back to his meal. "I'll eat first."

Xio felt a little uncomfortable for no reason, but thankfully, Julius ate quickly.

Afterward, Julius spent a brief moment freshening up before taking Xio to the study.

"Did you come to buy the Arbiter's follow-up potion formula from me?" he asked.

Xio nodded. "Yes."

Julius wasn't surprised. "The Sequence 8 potion formula typically goes for 500 to 600 pounds on the market. However, because the Arbiter formula is exclusive to the Loen military and its effects are highly practical, the price will be a bit higher. But since we're friends, I'll settle on a fair 550 pounds."

The price was quite reasonable.

Xio took out a bulging wallet from her knight's uniform and counted out the 550 pounds she had painstakingly saved.

Julius wasn't stingy. He grabbed a pen and wrote the formula on parchment.

Xio took it and softly read aloud, "A pair of eyes from a fearful demon insect, the right palm of a silver-white war bear..."

"It's authentic and valid," Julius said. "You can get it appraised anywhere you like. I wouldn't lie to you about something so trivial."

Xio tucked the hard-earned potion formula away, a hint of embarrassment appearing on her chubby face. "Mr. Julius, that's not what I meant."

"Don't be nervous, that's exactly what I said," Julius waved off the concern.

Xio, deep in thought, suddenly turned red, her baby face flushing.

Taking a deep breath, she removed her bayonet. "In that case, Mr. Julius, I think I've come to a realization."

Julius raised an eyebrow, unsure. "Awakening?"

Seeing the 1.49-meter girl before him, who seemed ready to sacrifice herself at any moment, Julius finally understood.

*Does this girl think I, Julius Astorio, have a crush on her?*

Sighing, he pinched his temples. "Miss Xio, you've misunderstood. I didn't mean that."

Xio looked confused. *Is he telling the truth?*

*If he really didn't mean it, why would he give away an Beyonder item worth 2,000 pounds?*

Years of experience in the gray areas taught Xio that there could be hatred without reason, but never love without reason.

Julius Astorio must have some hidden motive.

But if it's not me...

Could it be that lazy salted fish at home?

Thinking this, Xio's gaze turned complicated.

But to be fair, Fors does look quite good, and those places are well-developed...

Clearing his throat, he said, "If there's nothing else, Miss Xio, you may go."

Xio raised her rapier with a complicated expression, nodded to him, and left the study.

As she exited, she felt the need to warn Fors—so that the salty fish at home wouldn't remain idle all day.

**Silver City, the place abandoned by God.**

"Great God, please turn your gaze back to this place you abandoned."

"Great God, free us, people of darkness, from the curse of fate."

"I dedicate my life to you and offer my blood as tribute."

Derrick bowed his head, praying repeatedly before the broken crystal ball.

For a long time, nothing happened.

Derrick gritted his teeth in despair, feeling hopeless. Just as he was about to give up, a crimson light suddenly surged from the crystal ball, enveloping him entirely!

In what felt like an instant, Derrick found himself transported to a mysterious place.

The surroundings were void, misty, and empty, the ground covered with an invisible gray-white mist and faint dark red light spots floating in the air.

For the first time in what felt like forever, Derrick's dead heart reignited with a flame of hope.

He gazed at the figure sitting on a seat before him and asked, "Are you a god?"

Then, he lowered his head, recalling the teachings from Silver City's general books... Never look directly at a god!

Klein leaned back in his seat, crossed his fingers, and spoke in a relaxed tone, "I am not a god; I'm just a 'fool' with a fascination for long history."

He was quite pleased with his acting.

But just as he was about to continue his deception of the young man who had stumbled into this mysterious space, a box in the corner, shrouded in gray fog, suddenly rang, interrupting his thoughts.

Klein froze in panic.

A spiritual remnant of the True Creator? Or perhaps that strange cross?

He suddenly realized that he shouldn't have put both things into the same box...

Chapter 28:

Seeing that 'Mr. Fool' had suddenly stopped speaking, Derrick thought he had unintentionally offended the mysterious entity before him. Without hesitation, he dropped to one knee and said, "Please forgive me!"

Klein: ???

Suppressing the unease that welled up within him, Klein smiled and reassured, "Don't worry. I was just reminded of something interesting."

Derrick, still confused, lowered his head deeply.

Klein thought for a moment before continuing, "No matter what you ask of me, I can offer you a chance... Use whatever you can to exchange for what you want from me—or from people like you.

Of course, the exchange must be of equal value."

"Can I become stronger and rid myself of the curse of Silver City this way?" Derrick asked, his gaze intense and hopeful.

Klein crossed his fingers and answered, "I can't promise you anything outright. All I can say is, it's possible."

*Possibility... means hope!*

Derrick thought carefully for a long while before speaking slowly, "Great Mr. Fool, I wish to become the 'sun' that shines upon the earth. I wish to receive the initial potion of the Sun Path from you."

Klein's mind raced as he processed the request. *I know the 'Sequence' and 'potion'... The name of the potion is exactly what I expected. It seems 'Silver City' and I share the same world after all.*

He kept his expression casual and said, "I already understand your intentions and accept your commission. But for the next two days, please avoid going out or staying in the same room with others."

"Understood," Derrick replied.

Klein nodded, pleased. "Very well. Before I send you back, let's complete the equal exchange. I've given you the chance to grow stronger, now you must pay the price.

I told you before that I'm a 'fool' who loves history. So, tell me about the history of Silver City, where you're from."

Derrick spoke slowly, following Klein's directive, "As you wish. To understand Silver City's origins, we must begin with the 'Lord who created everything' and the 'Omniscient and Almighty God'..."

From Derrick's words, Klein learned much about the mysterious continent and its history.

Finally, he asked Derrick to choose a tarot card that represented his identity.

Without hesitation, Derrick picked the 'Sun' card.

After seeing Derrick off, Klein finally allowed himself a moment of respite. He removed his metaphorical "vest" and walked solemnly through the gray mist to the corner where debris had piled up.

The stainless steel box trembled before him. Klein sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Why was I so careless earlier..." he muttered to himself.

Inside the box lay the 'Spiritual Remnant of the True Creator,' a Sequence 7 Beyonder item that allowed him to use the power of the Hermit three times.

The 'Black Iron Cross,' once a Sequence 9 item, had inexplicably transformed into a Sequence 8 item after being lost and recovered.

An odd instinct told Klein that the two items were somehow linked.

"Should I contact Julius Astorio first?" Klein pondered. "Or...?"

Ultimately, he decided to rely on his old methods to guide his next move.

He muttered to himself, "There's danger in opening the box... there's danger in opening the box... there's danger in opening the box..." As he took off his citrine bracelet, Klein began tapping the gray mist, using divination to determine the outcome.

After a while, the pendulum began to swing counterclockwise.

This signified there was no danger in opening the box.

Klein frowned, still cautious.

To be sure, he performed three more divinations, using different methods.

After each reading confirmed that "there is no danger in opening the box," Klein took a deep breath, steadying himself before opening it.

*Creek—*

A crack appeared in the stainless steel box.

Klein peered inside and immediately noticed something unsettling.

The 'Spiritual Remnant of the True Creator' was gone. Only the 'Black Iron Cross' remained, quietly resting at the bottom of the box.

Strangely, the cross, which had once had an uneven surface, was now perfectly smooth. Furthermore, the faceless figure hanging upside down on the cross now had more defined features and expressions.

"Who is this?" A swirl of doubts flooded Klein's mind.

---

Salons were typically held in the afternoon.

After eating and taking a nap, Audrey put on a stunning yet modest dress and rode a carriage to the 'Jostar Manor.'

"This is Mr. Destiny's home? It looks so ordinary," she muttered to herself.

As she entered through the gate, Audrey instinctively had an idea about the place.

However, it didn't take long for her to realize that everything she saw was a mere disguise. Given Mr. Destiny's abilities, if he truly focused on accumulating wealth, he would likely have far more than the Hall family.

Of course, for high-Sequence Beyonder individuals, money was of little conSequence...

At that moment, the old housekeeper approached with a polished, professional smile. "Hello, Miss Audrey Hall. I am the housekeeper here. The master has informed me that if a particularly beautiful lady arrives, you should be directed to his study."

"In that case, please lead the way."

The old butler bowed gently and guided Audrey to Julius's study.

Julius was busy writing a letter when Audrey entered. He looked up and ordered, "Please bring Miss Hall a cup of Earl Grey tea, along with the refreshments I brought."

The butler nodded and left the room.

Julius gestured to a free chair. "Please, make yourself comfortable. I'll only be a moment."

Audrey blinked her large, curious eyes. "It's fine, you can continue your work. Um... would it be alright if I looked around here?"

"Of course, feel free to do as you wish," Julius replied with a slight smile.

He then returned to his letter. *"Regarding the mutation of the black iron cross, I understand the cause. However, due to your current level, any exposure to this knowledge would contaminate you, so I cannot divulge further details.

To sum it up: it's more of a blessing than a curse. If the spiritual remnants are gone, then they're gone. If the opportunity arises, I'll find you something for self-defense.

As for the black iron cross, it's harmless in its current form, but avoid using it if you can. You're still only a Sequence 8, and if the mutation spirals out of control, it could be dangerous.

Lastly, concerning your transfer to Backlund, I can assist you. I have connections, and there truly is someone...

Looking forward to your arrival. Your loyal and reliable friend, Julius Astorio."*

Julius sealed the letter, placed it in an envelope, and summoned a messenger.

A small star insect emerged, carrying the letter as it disappeared into the spirit world.

Julius turned around. "Miss Audrey."

"Ah!" Audrey quickly snapped out of her thoughts, a little embarrassed. "I'm sorry, Mr. Julius, I... I didn't mean to be rude."

"It's not your fault. That book is a trap. It uses psychological suggestions to lure readers in," Julius explained as he walked over to her. "Do you remember what I told you? It's dangerous and deceptive. This is the true nature of the Beyonder world."

*Got it, got it, got it.* She quickly regained her composure, offering a polite but slightly embarrassed smile.

Julius picked up *The Call of the Abyss* and said quietly, "This book has the potential to pollute the mind. It's a weapon against Beyonder people who stray too far down the wrong path.

Miss Audrey, as you continue to advance, you may encounter members of the Psychology Alchemists. When that happens, this book may serve as a defense."

"This... how is that possible?" Audrey waved her hands, flustered.

Julius simply smiled and said nothing more.

Audrey was deeply moved by his words.

With her preconceived notions, she had completely come to see Julius as her guide in the Beyonder world—a unique figure who was both a teacher and a friend.

Meanwhile, downstairs in the living room...

"Miss Fors!" Viscount Glainte looked at Fors with surprise, his voice laced with doubt. "You received the invitation too?"

Fors nodded. "Yes, Viscount."

She chuckled lightly. "Mr. Julius is quite the figure in literary circles. We've corresponded before, and over time, we've become well-acquainted."

At formal social gatherings, Fors always presented herself with poise.

Standing beside her was Xio.

Elsewhere, Derek and his fiancée, Difenna, were chatting, and their conversation drifted toward Julius.

"Your friends are impressive. Rarely do you meet such people."

"Of course, Julius is exceptional. No doubt about it."

"Quite charming, too."

"Yes, he is charming. When those ladies saw him, they couldn't help but—wait, what did you mean?"

"It's nothing, just a casual remark."

"Okay, okay. Since you have a crush on my friend, I think your cousin is lovely too. You know, the one with the red hair?"

"Then... a deal?"

"A deal."

With a single sentence, they had made a big bet in the world of the nobility.

Just then, someone descended from the second floor.

It was Julius. Beside him was a noblewoman with blonde hair and blue eyes, an unusual beauty with an elegant and pure temperament.

*Click.*

The crystal cup in Viscount Glainte's hand shattered as it hit the floor.

Immediately, his body began to tremble with shock.

"Earl Hall will certainly have me executed," Viscount Glainte muttered, feeling his life spiral into gloom.

The room fell silent. No one had expected to see Audrey Hall and Julius Astorio together.

And coming down from the second floor?

Before anyone could react...

Derek Syndras, finally regaining his composure, gave Julius a thumbs-up. *Brother, you're amazing!*

Julius pretended not to notice, his expression neutral as he said, "Thank you all for your compliments. The theme of today's salon is 'Independent Women in Literary Works.'"

Chapter 28:

Like a tornado, the news shook Backlund's social circles.

Soon, Earl Hall learned that his daughter had been stolen. But when he stormed into St. Samuel's Church in fury, expecting an explanation, he was met with an even more shocking truth. After that, the earl inexplicably suppressed his anger and went about his duties as if nothing had happened.

Audrey unconsciously breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing the news. She admitted that her actions that day had been somewhat reckless.

*For a moment, I actually followed Mr. Julius downstairs…*

But her father's silent acquiescence stirred new thoughts within her.

"Mr. Julius mentioned that he's registered with all the major Churches. My father must know that he's a high-Sequence Beyonder..."

She murmured to her golden retriever, "Beyonder achievements can erase worldly prejudices. Susie, we must advance to Sequence 8 as soon as possible."

"But we don't have the potion formula," Susie replied, a little frustrated.

As a dog, her limitations were all too clear.

Audrey, however, blinked mysteriously. "Don't worry. The formula will be in our hands soon."

With that, she locked the door with practiced ease and instructed Susie, "No one is allowed inside until I wake up. Understood?"

"Woof," Susie responded.

Audrey removed her shoes and lay quietly on her bed, calculating the time in her mind. Suddenly, a crimson light surged into her consciousness.

The next moment, she found herself in the familiar, mysterious palace.

She was just about to greet Mr. Fool and the other members as usual when, unexpectedly, Mr. Fool at the head of the long bronze table spoke first, his voice calm and steady:

"Everyone, this is a new member—'The Sun.'"

Then, he continued the introductions:

"Sun, this is Miss Justice.

This is Mr. Hanged Man.

This is Mr. Destiny."

A new member! Audrey was momentarily surprised, but joy quickly filled her heart. She was genuinely pleased to see the Tarot Club expanding.

"Another new member..." Alger sighed inwardly.

However, after the recent addition of 'Destiny,' he quickly accepted the fact and simply exchanged greetings with the others.

At that moment, Julius spoke deliberately. "Mr. Sun, I hope you don't mind me asking, but… are you from His Kingdom of God?"

Derrick's eyes widened in shock. "Mr. Destiny, you… you know of the omniscient and omnipotent Lord?"

"Sure enough..." Julius looked at Derrick and chuckled. "This isn't hard to guess. After all, some of the marks on your body are not so easy to erase."

The naive and unaware Derrick really believed that 'Mr. Destiny' knew a lot about his hometown. For a moment, he felt extremely emotional, like he had met an old friend in a foreign land.

"Mr. Destiny..." he said expectantly. "Are you the same?"

Julius shook his head.

The conversation shifted. "Mr. Sun, although I would love to chat with you, now is Mr. Fool's reading time."

With that, Julius bowed his head.

"Actually, I'm not in a hurry..." Under the cover of gray mist, Klein tWitched the corner of his mouth.

Anyway, "Roselle's Diary" couldn't escape. In comparison, the things about the Forsaken Land of the Gods intrigued him more.

But... never mind. Klein leaned back in his chair, looking mysterious and profound.

Audrey and Alger met, quickly scribbling down the contents of the diary they had prepared in advance.

Klein didn't look at it yet. Instead, he smiled and said, "Miss Justice, Mr. Hanged Man, what would you like from me?"

Audrey's eyes lit up instantly, and she pretended to be reserved. "If possible, Mr. Fool, I would like to acquire the formula for the 'Telepathist' potion or its Beyonder characteristics."

After a brief pause, she added, "Two Beyonder characteristics would be ideal."

Upon hearing this, Klein and Alger both felt unsettled.

Audrey also seemed a little embarrassed; her voice dropped. "I know these diaries may not be worth two Beyonder characteristics, but... I can make up the difference with payment."

At that moment, Julius chuckled as if to remind her intentionally. "Miss Justice, how could Mr. Fool care about mundane money?"

I care; I care *so* much! Klein shed a tear for his poverty.

He still had over 6,000 pounds of foreign debt...

"Telepathist? You're talking about the 'Telepathist' before 'psychoanalyst'!" Derrick suddenly perked up. "By coincidence, Silver City has this formula; I can help you get it!"

*Mr. Sun, you're still too young. How could you reveal your true identity in just a few words?* Klein felt helpless.

But he didn't say much, just stretched out his hand to summon the diaries.

The atmosphere turned suddenly quiet.

Both Audrey and Alger kept their doubts about 'Silver City' to themselves.

Time passed slowly.

Klein was quite honored to learn some unknown quirks of fellow countryman Roselle.

Of course, it wasn't all about erotic stories; there was also some serious occult knowledge mixed in...

Finally, he set the diary down and spoke calmly. "Feel free to discuss amongst yourselves."

Audrey and Alger couldn't wait. They both asked simultaneously, "Mr. Sun, where is Silver City?"

But Derrick's gaze was fixed on Julius, and the meaning in his look was clear.

Julius was silent for a moment, seeming to weigh something.

Seeing this, an idea flashed through Klein's mind, and he smiled. "Here you are; don't mind him."

'Him!'

For a moment, Audrey and Alger felt a chill deep within their souls.

The secret of 'Silver City'... does it involve the True God?

Julius nodded slightly. "Follow your will."

With a slight cough, he deliberately explained to Audrey and Alger. "I can't say too much; otherwise, it wouldn't be helpful to you. You just need to know that Silver City lies in the land abandoned by God, and the True Creator is also there—in His kingdom of God."

Naturally, Audrey and Alger were familiar with this notorious evil god.

Derrick was beside himself with excitement. "The Creator... he didn't abandon us? How is that possible?"

If Mr. Fool hadn't been watching, Derrick would've almost stood up.

"The Creator is the Creator, and the True Creator is the True Creator. You must understand this," Julius said in a deep voice. "'Almighty and Omnipotent' and 'Fallen' are not the same authority."

Derrick couldn't grasp it at all.

Others understood a bit more.

The 'True Creator' and the 'Omniscient and Almighty God' Derrick mentioned were likely not the same, but what was their relationship?

Audrey and Alger looked at Julius eagerly, hoping he would elaborate.

But Julius had no intention of speaking further and quietly changed the subject. "Miss Justice, Mr. Hanged Man, have you gathered any additional information about the God of Knowledge and Wisdom?"

"The God of Knowledge and Wisdom? Who is that?" Derrick was confused.

He felt like all the general books he had read were worthless!

Alger coughed lightly. "My apologies, Mr. Destiny. I've been at sea recently."

Audrey spread her hands. "You know, Mr. Destiny, during this time we..."

Halfway through her sentence, she covered her mouth, realizing the slip-up.

But Klein and Alger were too sharp; how could they miss the loopholes in Miss Mary Sue's words?

An idea came to both of them at the same time.

——Justice and Destiny meet in the real world!

Julius smiled and admitted, "I was fortunate enough to experience an interesting adventure with Miss Justice recently."

Audrey smiled, her entire demeanor brightening.

Klein wanted to probe further, but he couldn't do so while wearing the Fool's mask.

Fortunately, Alger lived up to expectations and became his mouthpiece. "An adventure? I'm quite intrigued. Can we talk about it?"

Audrey glanced at Julius, as if asking, 'Do you want to explain, or shall I?'

Julius shook his head.

Audrey understood and said excitedly, "It all started at a banquet. Mr. Destiny recognized me by chance..."

"After all, your temperament is so unique," Julius couldn't resist interjecting.

She was a fair-skinned, beautiful, long-legged, blonde, blue-eyed little rich woman with a dog. She could capture anyone's attention and observe whoever she liked. This was a very narrow range.

Klein secretly thought that if it were him, he would have certainly recognized Miss Justice when he saw her.

Audrey pouted. "Mr. Destiny, please let me finish."

Klein: ? ? ?

Alger: ? ? ?

Something is very wrong here.

The relationship between these two is *very* wrong!

Julius made a 'please' gesture.

Audrey regained her composure and continued, "We confirmed each other's identities with two tarot cards. Then Mr. Destiny told me that a rat had entered the banquet, at the level of Sequence 4, and that the other party was staring at me..."

Sequence 4, Demigod!

Alger and Klein trembled inwardly.

Extraordinaries of this Sequence were well-regarded middle- and high-level leaders, regardless of which righteous Church they belonged to. They could even serve as Archbishop of a sub-diocese.

It's been exciting from the very beginning.

Under the cover of gray mist, Audrey couldn't see their expressions, and there was no immediate feedback. But she continued, as if nothing had happened, "However, with Mr. Destiny's help, the crisis was naturally resolved."

At this, Klein, Alger, and Derrick all had different thoughts.

What Klein thought was, if he could go toe-to-toe with a Sequence 5 against Sequence 4, Julius might be in trouble again.

What Alger thought was, despite his expectations, hearing about 'Destiny's' ability to suppress demigods still made him feel conflicted. At the same time, the wise Captain Alger was calculating how best to attach himself to the most powerful member of the Tarot Club.

"Few people can survive being targeted by a demigod. Miss Justice, you're quite lucky," Alger remarked thoughtfully.

Julius smiled and added, "Speaking of which, this was an oversight on my part... I forgot that I had something on me that would be fatally attractive to those following the Error Pathway.

It could be said that the Error demigod came for me."

Really?

The three of them focused intently on Julius.

Julius continued, "So, to compensate the innocent Miss Justice, I decided to let her join me on the adventure."

Chapter 28:

House of Jacob, Secret Treasure.

Regardless of what the Jacob family is, just hearing "Secret Treasure" tells you this place isn't simple!

Julius interjected, explaining in a timely manner, "The Jacob family is an angel family on the Error Pathway."

An *angel family*?

Klein and Alger exchanged glances, both sighing inwardly. The story was becoming more and more extravagant.

Audrey blinked, "At first, I thought this adventure would be as difficult as what's written in the books, but Mr. Destiny wisely used the demigod as a pathfinding tool... Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention—this demigod is actually a parasite that lives on a mouse."

*Mouse demigod?* Klein tWitched his lips.

Then, something strange crossed his mind. The spiritual being in the dark warned him to be cautious of the 'parasite.'

"Strange..." Klein frowned, his Seer instincts picking up on something.

The blessing of gray mist didn't make him believe that warning would be baseless.

This meant he was about to make an enemy of a 'parasite.'

Without thinking, Klein's mind flashed to Leonard, a colleague who liked to *talk to himself*—could this be a similar situation?

*"I'll have to do some divination after the party disbands,"* Klein thought.

"Using this mouse demigod, Mr. Destiny and I easily reached the deepest part of the Jacob family's secret treasure," Audrey's tone picked up speed. "But what was unexpected was that the so-called treasure was actually a huge conspiracy!"

It must be said, the eldest lady had exceptional storytelling skills.

Derrick, fully immersed in the tale, couldn't help but ask, "What happened? What conspiracy?"

Julius, ever the teacher, answered, "I must explain in advance that the Error Pathway is a very special divine path. Not only are the abilities unique, but the Sequence 1 of this path is even more remarkable."

He glanced at Derrick. "You might understand, as Amon is the youngest son of the Creator and the king of angels who serves Him."

Derrick: What?! King of Angels?

He had never encountered such a concept in any of his books.

Julius continued, "Amon has a mischievous nature and loves to deceive. If you encounter him, it means the deception has already begun."

He paused, then looked at Audrey, Alger, and Derrick. "Since joining the Tarot Club, we've all become targets of Amon."

How could someone like me, a mere Sequence 9 (or Sequence 7), be targeted by the King of Angels, Sequence 1? For a moment, Alger and the others were utterly confused.

Then, it seemed the realization hit them, and they all turned their gaze to Klein.

Klein: *No, don't look at me. I'm innocent. I know nothing.*

*'Mr. Fool and Amon are mortal enemies!'* Suddenly, everyone understood.

Julius bowed deeply to Klein, "Great Lord of Sefirah Castle, you will undoubtedly regain your authority. I firmly believe in this."

Mr. Fool, Lord of Sefirah Castle? Authority?

Julius's words contained more information than Audrey and the others had expected.

They quickly lowered their heads.

Klein blinked, *What?*

*I don't have any authority.*

*At most, I have some debt.*

*Tsk, I have a headache.*

So, according to Julius, the Fool vest I wear is locked in a life-or-death competition with Amon? *Thief... similar Sequence... Beyonder aggregation...*

Combining this with the secrets from "Roselle's Diary," Klein realized he might be involved in something far greater.

He recalled a saying—*"From the moment you decide your order, your friends and enemies are determined."*

"So, Amon is my enemy... Sequence 1 of the Error Pathway. This pressure is intense," Klein thought, letting out a mental sigh.

Only by understanding our enemies and ourselves can we push the growth of the organization forward.

Julius decided to reveal more about the mischievous Amon: "Amon can steal anything below his level, including time, distance, Beyonder abilities, and thoughts.

He can deceive the laws of nature and parasitize any being whose personality is weaker than his.

People who are heavily parasitized by him become his clones, entirely controlled by him."

Klein's abilities: divination, body control, foresight, and some acrobatic dodging.

Amon's abilities: stealing anything—*the air*.

*Klein shuddered inwardly.*

Chapter 28:

"When an Amon appears next to you, there is no doubt that you are surrounded by a nest of Amon."

"Be careful how you pinch the monocle; that's Amon's standard posture."

"Deep-seated parasitism is difficult to detect and extremely hard to prevent."

A rule, a piece of advice.

Klein and the others looked extremely pale upon hearing this.

*No, how could there be such a disgusting, Beyonder way of 'stealing'?*

"Anyway—" Julius crossed his fingers. "That's all I have to say."

The atmosphere grew silent for a moment.

Finally, Little Sun, who still had nothing to worry about, asked worriedly, "If this is the case, if you encounter Amon, wouldn't there be no way to deal with it?"

Julius shook his head. "No, with Amon's status, I might not even notice that he's next to me…"

Audrey and Alger nodded inwardly.

Klein focused all his attention on Julius, fearing he might miss some key information.

Julius smiled and said, "Don't worry. After this meeting is over, I'll give you some 'anti-mask devices.' When Amon appears within a radius of fifty meters, the alarm will automatically sound."

As for coping…

"If you really encounter Amon, Mr. Fool will not sit idly by and ignore it."

*Yes, we also have the powerful "Mr. Fool"!*

For a moment, everyone looked towards the top.

Klein felt bitter.

But he had to pretend to be calm and collected. "It doesn't matter; I will take action."

Always as quiet as the sea, always calm. It's very reassuring to look at.

Inadvertently, Audrey and Alger were even more in awe of Mr. Fool.

The discussion continued.

After a wave of 'popular science' about Amon, Audrey cleared her throat and took over the conversation. "The 'conspiracy' I just mentioned is actually that the secret treasure of the Jacob family doesn't exist at all. All of this—it's all Amon's trap!"

"The ancestors of the Jacob family and various high-Sequence tribesmen have long been eaten by Amon's true form. Spreading the news of the secret treasure was just to lure the remnants of the Jacob family and nourish the clones hiding there."

Everyone: ...

Put yourself in the shoes of the rat demigod of the House of Jacob.

Both Klein and Alger felt that their mentality must have been shattered.

Amon is really not a human being.

"What happened next was that Amon ate the rat demigod, but Mr. Destiny suppressed him easily." Although Audrey tried her best to suppress it, the excitement in her tone still exposed her.

Alger's heart trembled.

Destiny > Amon's clone > Mouse demigod

This also means that 'Destiny' is at least a Sequence 3 powerhouse.

Above is the Lord of Storms...

Then Mr. Fool is above, Sequence 3, the saint on earth!

This was even more outrageous than his previous guess.

"Maybe it's not just Sequence 3, Sequence 2, or even Sequence 1 that is possible!" Alger was both frightened and excited in his heart.

Audrey continued, "I don't know what happened after that.

But when I left the so-called secret treasure of the Jacob family, Mr. Destiny seemed...

Mr. Destiny, you once said you would tell me the truth under the protection of Mr. Fool; can you tell me now?"

Derrick, who was not even an Beyonder, stared with admiration at Julius's face, which was obscured by the gray mist and could not be seen clearly.

If he also had the strength of 'Mr. Destiny,' he might be able to lead Silver City out of danger.

Julius pondered for a moment and respectfully reported to Klein first, "Because Amon's clone once speculated that I was the restart of the 'Snake of Mercury,' it attracted Ourolius and was shocked by my aura of the True Creator."

Audrey weakly raised her hand. "Mr. Destiny, who is Ouroleus, and what is the 'Snake of Mercury'?"

"Well done, Miss Justice, you are indeed a model member of our Tarot Club." Mr. Fool nodded secretly, extremely satisfied with the believer's acting.

Julius patiently explained, "'Snake of Mercury' is the name of the Monster Path Sequence 1."

"Ouroborus is a real 'Snake of Mercury.' Like Amon, he was once the king of angels beside the 'Creator.'"

Derrick was seen staring directly at Julius. "Mr. Destiny, since you... no, you cannot be afraid of Ourolius, then there must be a way to save Silver City!"

Julius was stunned for a moment and said with a wry smile, "Sorry, I can't enter the kingdom of the 'True Creator' rashly."

This is a lie.

If we go to the land abandoned by God now, won't we force Amon's true form out?

However, Little Sun is also very pitiful.

Julius cleared his throat and changed the subject, "But, for the sake of being a fellow party member, I can help.

Of course, it's paid."

Derrick, who was originally extremely disappointed, suddenly became energetic.

Julius smiled and said, "You have to think about it; you may not be able to pay off your debts in your lifetime. Even so, do you still want to help the city-state where you are?"

Derrick said without hesitation, "I do!"

Julius didn't answer but looked up. "Mr. Fool, what do you think?"

Klein: ...

In desperation, he could only say, "Interesting idea."

Julius received the imperial edict and said, "I happen to have some Worms of Time that I got from Amon. I can use these Worms of Time to make an Beyonder item that can steal sunlight. It is wishful thinking to dispel all darkness," but it is definitely enough to protect the city-state where you are."

Can sunlight be stolen?

Derrick was ecstatic and thanked him repeatedly: "Thank you, Mr. Destiny, thank you so much!"

Julius waved his hand, "Don't forget, this is a fair deal."

After a pause, he added, "But this Beyonder item needs to be activated by the spirituality of the Sun Path. As a gift, I will give you another introductory potion formula of the Sun Path."

Derrick was so moved that he wished he could kneel down and kowtow to 'Mr. Destiny' on the spot.

At this time, Alger's heart moved, and he said, "Mr. Destiny, you are so generous."

Julius chuckled lightly, "Mr. Hanged Man, I have said before that under the witness of Mr. Fool, we are a community of destiny, and we should help each other."

Alger was thinking about how to speak to the other party in a tactful way.

Julius said politely, "Mr. Hanged Man, do you need my help with anything?"

Alger adjusted his attitude and replied, "I've received information that the great pirate Qilangos, known as 'Vice Admiral Hurricane,' secretly landed ashore and infiltrated Backlund. If you can, Mr. Destiny, please help me capture or eliminate him, and I will reward you reasonably."

Before Julius could respond, Audrey exclaimed, "'Vice Admiral Hurricane' Qilangos? One of the seven pirate generals!"

"Yes, he's a Sequence 6 sailor, a Wind-blessed," Alger nodded slowly. "He also possesses an extraordinarily tough item that allows him to use a variety of other abilities. He's quite a formidable opponent."

"Sequence 6? Mr. Hanged Man, this sounds like a trivial matter..." Julius thought for a moment. "But it seems like he would be a perfect training partner for you."

Julius continued, "Miss Justice and her pets have already digested the Spectator potion and can be promoted to Sequence 8 at any time, assuming the right conditions. I happen to know a Sequence 8 from the Seer path—three of them, actually: two people and one pet. So, Mr. Hanged Man, whether or not you've mastered mental arithmetic, Sequence 6 is not invincible."

Instead of taking direct action, you want to give me a chance to practice... Alger felt an unexpected emotion stir in his heart.

Though he didn't admit it, he had to acknowledge that it felt rather nice having a high-Sequence powerhouse as a sort of guardian.

Klein was dumbfounded.

Thinking about this, Klein nodded slightly, maintaining his calm demeanor, and said, "He will be very pleased."

Julius smiled brightly. "Then I'll wait for his arrival in Backlund."

"'He'?"

Endless curiosity surged in the hearts of Audrey, Alger, and Derrick, who couldn't keep up with the rhythm at all.

If their guess was correct, "he" was likely the Sequence 8 from the Seer path.

But what qualifications did a mere Sequence 8 have to be so interested in someone who was suspected of being a true god or even an angel?

Klein felt secretly bitter.

It's not enough to stay in Backlund.

Only...

Thinking of Captain Dunn, who had almost died, and a colleague who rarely spoke and whom he would never see again, Klein knew that Backlund was no longer the right soil.

It was time to leave his comfort zone and see the wider world.

---

**Silver City.**

When his consciousness returned to his body, Derrick took a moment to process everything before sitting up from the bed.

He took a deep breath and began summoning the messenger of 'Mr. Destiny.'

What surprised him, however, was that the room remained unchanged for a long time. No shifts in the space, no response.

Just as Derrick was about to sWitch the summoning language from the ancient giant language to another, a ripple appeared in the air.

A small insect, its body filled with endless starlight, emerged. Without a sound, it dropped a badge engraved with the Wheel of Fortune in front of Derrick.

Derrick's heart raced. He knew that this was the 'anti-mask device' that Mr. Destiny had mentioned.

But it wasn't over yet.

After the badge, a letter slowly descended.

Derrick flattened the paper and read the ancient giant language written on it:

*"Mr. Sun, it's a pleasure to communicate with you for the first time.

As for the Beyonder item I mentioned to replace the sun, I will complete it as soon as possible and aim to deliver it to you within a week.

So, in the meantime, please become a true Beyonder as soon as possible.

The recipe for the 'Bard' potion is as follows: Main materials: a crystallized sunflower or the tail feathers of an adult flint bird or a firebird's tail feathers, a siren's stone, or a singing sunflower. Auxiliary materials: midsummer grass, five drops of July wine juice, and an elf dark leaf."*

After reading the formula, a spark of hope ignited in Derrick's heart.

He carefully stored the letter away before, after a moment of thought, he burned it with fire.

Then, he picked up the badge.

Unexpectedly, the badge engraved with the Wheel of Fortune suddenly began to tremble...

Chapter 28:

No way? Amon is nearby!

Derrick's heart was pounding wildly.

But in an instant, the badge stopped vibrating, as though the earlier movement had been nothing more than an illusion.

"Just... what happened?" He pinched the badge, his eyes growing more cautious.

He felt it was necessary to write another letter to 'Mr. Destiny' and inquire about some things.

**Three days later.**

Backlund, train station exit.

Klein walked out slowly, adjusting his hat.

He looked up.

It was exactly as rumored.

No matter when, the sky in Backlund was always gray.

"The air pollution is terrible," Klein muttered under his breath.

At that moment, a familiar figure approached and gave Klein a hearty hug in a very un-Loen style. "Klein Moretti, my friend, welcome to the Capital of Mandu."

"Julius," Klein said, his face remaining calm. "I'm so happy to see you."

"You don't look happy," Julius grinned. "Don't worry, I won't be collecting debts from you so soon."

Hearing this, Klein tWitched his lips but said nothing.

Julius patted Klein on the shoulder. "Okay, come home with me first. Once you drop off your luggage, we'll go to a high-end restaurant for a meal. Afterward, I'll show you the prosperity of Backlund."

The arrangements were clear.

Klein shook his head. "Sorry, I'm a reserve member of the Red Gloves this time..."

Before he could finish, Julius interrupted. "You also said you're a 'preparatory member.' There are as many demigods as there are dogs in Backlund, and saints everywhere. You're just a little Sequence 8. I'll report it later. Fine."

He winked. "Don't worry, the goddess will forgive you."

Klein sighed inwardly.

Julius led Klein to his luxurious carriage.

Klein snapped back to reality and asked, "Rent?"

"I bought it," Julius replied calmly. "To be precise, it was customized."

Klein gritted his teeth lightly.

Is writing novels really that profitable?

No. It must be easy for high-Sequence Beyonder people to make money.

Ah! I really want to be promoted ASAP!

'Clown' is still too weak.

Unknowingly, Klein began to understand a bit of the helplessness fate can bring, and his demonic digestion progress increased by one...

Back to business.

Sitting in the luxurious carriage, Klein didn't know where to look.

He glanced left and right. Finally, he turned his attention to Julius and weakly asked, "How much does it cost to customize a carriage like this?"

Julius crossed his legs and replied, "It's not expensive; about five hundred pounds. After all, it's just a mortal thing."

Then he changed the subject. "But the charms and Beyonder materials hidden in the plywood cost a lot—around seven to eight thousand pounds."

"By the way, Klein, has he told you?" Julius suddenly asked solemnly.

Klein nodded.

Julius immediately relaxed. "Sequence 6 will be quite a challenge for you."

Who says it's not?

Klein thought for a moment and then asked knowingly, "I heard... I might have some extra help?"

Julius perked up. "Yes, and quite a few."

He snapped his fingers. "Two 'Telepathists,' one 'Navigator,' and maybe Fors and Miss Xio will also join this operation to add one more 'Sheriff' and an 'apprentice.'"

Wait!

Klein frowned.

Not to mention Miss Justice and Mr. Hanged Man.

After all, he was already a well-established member of the Tarot Club.

What's up with Fors and Miss Xio?

Just joining in for the fun?

He wanted to question it but remembered that 'Klein Moretti' was not a Tarot Club member.

At this point, Julius asked with a smile, "What? Do you have a problem?"

"No," Klein answered sincerely. "I don't have any problems."

He looked at Klein. "This is a great opportunity for you to shine. As the Lord's only favored one, your actions represent His will. I say, Klein, you must not embarrass yourself."

Klein replied, "Hmm, I know."

"That's good—"

Julius didn't seem interested in continuing that topic and changed the subject. "'Red Gloves' is the special operations team of the Church of Evernight, and the minimum rank is Sequence 7. If you're transferred, it'll probably attract some attention. In the future, you'll need to be cautious when traveling in Backlund."

Klein already knew this and said solemnly, "So my current status is just as a 'reserve member.' I'm just a lucky person who was promoted after achieving something noteworthy."

He smiled and added, "Didn't you say high-Sequence Beyonder are everywhere here? I don't think anyone will bother a little guy like me."

Julius's gaze became meaningful. "Hey, you can't tell..."

After chatting for a while, the two arrived at Astorio Manor.

Upon seeing the vast, luxuriously decorated mansion, Klein cursed the rich man countless times in his heart.

Then came the longing for a rich life.

When could he bring Melissa and Benson to a house like this?

"After paying off the debt, I'll start saving to buy a house," Klein silently clenched his fists.

Inside, Mr. Moretti, a small-town citizen, was completely dazzled by the antiques and famous paintings around him.

This, this, this... how much is all this worth?

"I forgot you're a history major," Julius smiled slightly. "But these are very ordinary decorations. The real collections are in the collection room. If you're interested, I can show you."

Klein stayed silent.

After a long pause, he spoke, "Stop looking around and let's eat."

Though Klein ordered the most expensive dishes on the menu, the meal still cost less than five hundred pounds.

Julius wiped his mouth with a napkin. "Do you need anything else? After all, this is your wedding banquet, and I can't treat you badly."

Klein's stomach was so full that he looked pale and said, "No, no need."

Damn, what a miscalculation. If I had known, I wouldn't have eaten so much white bread.

However, recalling the strange look from the next table, Klein felt a little warm.

Julius checked his pocket watch and said, "Eat and drink. I'll introduce you to someone later. After all, you're going to live in Backlund. Expanding your network will be very helpful."

Klein's heart stirred. He asked knowingly, "Who is it?"

Julius paused, then confidently answered, "A beauty."

Chapter 28:

**Four o'clock in the afternoon, Viscount Glaint's villa.**

"Mr. Viscount, you are as dazzling as ever," Julius said, taking Viscount Glaint's hand. "I'm so happy to see you!"

But I'm not happy...

Viscount Glaint felt a wave of disgust but didn't want to show it too obviously. He forced a tight smile, gently patting the back of Julius's hand before calmly withdrawing. "Welcome to today's salon, Mr. Astorio. Please, make yourself at home."

With that, he grabbed a wine glass and moved away to greet other guests, almost as if escaping.

Klein, who had witnessed the entire exchange, gave a half-hearted smile. "Is it just me, or does it seem like Mr. Viscount has something against you?"

Julius didn't hide his amusement, grinning. "Because Mr. Viscount always believes that it was his doing that caused 'Backlund's most dazzling gem' to fall into dust."

Just then, two familiar figures appeared.

— Miss Xio, clad in a knight's uniform, standing at just under 1.5 meters tall.

— Miss Fors, holding a handbag and radiating a laid-back, lazy aura.

"Them?" Klein asked, surprised.

"Everyone has their own circle, Klein," Julius replied with a knowing smile. "That's why you need to make more friends." Though Julius wanted to reminisce with Klein, the moment wasn't right.

He leaned closer and whispered, "Here they come."

"Who's coming?" Klein instinctively scanned the room.

Following the gazes of most people, Klein turned toward the door.

A blonde, blue-eyed beauty entered, her elegance radiating from every step. With green eyes that reflected the firelight—pale yet deep, like the purest gems—she exuded an aura of purity and grace.

Klein didn't need a reminder. She was unmistakably a member of his Tarot Club.

She was *Miss Justice*.

"Audrey Hall, the youngest daughter of Earl Hall, a rising star in Backlund's social scene... and one of your helpers," Julius whispered in Klein's ear.

Klein played his role well, feigning surprise. "That beautiful young lady?"

Julius saw through Klein's thoughts but didn't comment. "Don't underestimate her. She's a Beyonder of the same level as you, and if it came to a fight, you might not win."

Klein suppressed a sigh. *After all, Miss Audrey still has a dog...* He mentally complained, though his expression remained neutral.

As Klein scrutinized Audrey, she, in turn, observed him using her 'Spectator' ability.

"Dark hair, brown eyes, with sharp features and a scholarly air. He looks like a university student or a young teacher."

"His clothes are simple—new but clearly ill-fitting. There are obvious personal marks in the style. Did Mr. Julius buy them for him on a whim?"

"The silver pocket watch chain hanging outside his pocket... Is he struggling financially?"

"He's highly alert to his surroundings but clearly depends on Mr. Julius. The bond between them is strong, even if he doesn't consciously show it."

No one could escape the gaze of the 'Spectator.' In just a few moments, Klein's background was laid bare before Audrey.

On the other side, Xio and Fors were also eyeing Klein.

"If I'm not mistaken, that man is from the Nighthawks of Tingen, right?"

"Yes, that's Klein Moretti."

"Fors, what's the relationship between them? It seems a bit... off to me."

"Don't make trouble. Don't mess with Julius Astorio."

"I know."

Xio gave her friend an uncertain look.

*Silly fish, you should be more careful.*

Those hints before didn't work. I genuinely fear that you might end up on someone else's chopping block...

After some pleasantries, Audrey finally approached Julius.

"Mr. Julius." She greeted him while lifting her skirt slightly.

Julius nodded. "Miss Audrey."

He then introduced the people around him to Audrey. "This is Klein Moretti, a talented young man from Tingen University, and my personal history teacher."

While speaking, Julius winked subtly at Audrey.

Audrey understood and extended her hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Moretti."

"Likewise," Klein replied, his demeanor calm as they shook hands briefly.

Audrey showed no attempt to hide her curiosity. She looked Klein over but found nothing remarkable about him.

*This is Mr. Fool's favored one?*

*So ordinary...*

"If it's possible, Miss Audrey, could we talk more closely?" Julius asked politely. "I have some academic matters I'd like to discuss with you."

Audrey didn't hesitate. "I'd be honored to discuss literature with a renowned writer."

It wasn't the first time Audrey had been in a similar situation, so she paid no mind to the rumors. She didn't even feel excitement deep within her heart.

Meanwhile, Viscount Glaint ground his teeth in frustration.

The poor Viscount wanted to say something scathing, but when he caught a glimpse of the expression on Audrey's face, he found himself unable to speak.

*Sigh, what a sin.*

**At the same time, Port Backlund.**

Stepping off the passenger ship, Alger adjusted his hat.

His blue hair had been subtly treated, making it blend in with the crowd. His pirate attire had been replaced with a plain suit and vest.

He was carrying a suitcase in his hand, blending in as just another tourist.

"Backlund..." Alger murmured quietly.

He lowered the brim of his hat, discreetly paid the landing fee, and took steady steps, easily merging into the life of this international city.
