Kieran's POV
Something was wrong with me. I could feel it—a darkness spreading inside, like black ink in water. But I couldn't tell anyone. Not yet. Not when everyone was counting on me.
I stood on the hill overlooking my area, watching as hundreds of werewolves gathered. Not just my Shadowfang Pack, but wolves from every part of the country. They came because I called. Because they knew what was coming.
"Alpha Wolfe," a voice said behind me. I turned to see Marcus, head of the Mountain Claw Pack. "My fighters are ready."
I nodded. "Good. Position them at the eastern border. The Shadow Alpha will try to break through the weakest points first."
As Marcus left, I felt a sharp pain in my head. The darkness stirred. I gritted my teeth and pushed it down. Not now.
Sienna appeared at my side, her red hair catching the passing sunlight. Just seeing her made the darkness shrink a little.
"You look terrible," she said, her eyes searching my face.
