Chapter 14: Showdown with Omega-9

The room trembled as Omega-9 let out a deep, mechanical growl. Its six glowing eyes scanned us with unrelenting precision. A red warning flashed in my HUD:

"Stay sharp!" I shouted, gripping my energy blade. "This thing isn't like the others."

Omega-9 raised its cannon-like arm, a blazing plasma charge forming at the tip. The heat alone made my armor's warning systems beep in distress.

💥 [INCOMING ATTACK: EVASIVE MANEUVERS REQUIRED] 💥

We barely leaped out of the way as the plasma blast obliterated the floor where we had stood just a second ago.

"Alright, that's it!" Kaine roared, activating his Hyper Mode. His muscles bulged, veins glowing electric blue. He rushed Omega-9 with superhuman speed, slicing at its metallic legs with his plasma sword. Sparks flew, but the machine barely flinched.

Shira pulled out her hacking module, her fingers moving at lightning speed. "I'll try to shut down its auxiliary power systems—cover me!"

Omega-9 spun around, extending razor-sharp energy blades from both its arms. In one swift motion, it slashed at Nyx. She barely managed to parry with her dual daggers, but the sheer force sent her skidding backward.

"Damn, this thing hits like a tank," she grunted.

⚡ [SYSTEM ANALYSIS… WEAKNESS DETECTED] ⚡

A message popped up on my HUD. The joint connectors at the back of Omega-9's legs were less armored than the rest of its body.

"There!" I pointed. "The weak spots are at the back of its legs! Aim there!"

Kaine didn't hesitate. He launched forward, delivering a devastating slash to the joint. Omega-9 staggered for the first time.

Shira shouted, "Almost there! Just a few more seconds—"

But Omega-9 wasn't done. Its torso split open, revealing a core of searing white energy. The temperature in the room skyrocketed.

🔥 [OMEGA CORE ACTIVATED] 🔥

The core began charging, an intense gravitational force pulling everything toward it.

Nyx grabbed onto a nearby structure. "It's gonna self-destruct! We need to take it out now!"

Shira yelled, "I need one more second—"

I took a deep breath. No more waiting. This was my chance.

Activating my Final Strike Mode, I dashed toward Omega-9 with all my power.

💀 [SPECIAL SKILL: VOID SLASH ACTIVATED] 💀

My energy blade glowed ominously as I leaped into the air. With a powerful downward strike, I sliced directly through Omega-9's exposed core.

For a moment, everything went silent.

💥 A MASSIVE EXPLOSION ROCKED THE ENTIRE CHAMBER! 💥

I felt myself being thrown back as debris scattered everywhere. A blinding white light engulfed my vision.

Slowly, my HUD rebooted. My head throbbed, my body felt like it had been crushed under a mountain.

A robotic voice echoed through the ruined chamber.

[SYSTEM GUARDIAN: OMEGA-9… TERMINATED]

[REWARD: ACCESS TO SYSTEM CORE GRANTED]

I looked around, seeing my team recovering from the blast. Shira was already hacking into the central console, her eyes shining with excitement.

"This is it," she whispered. "We've reached the heart of the System."
