Kay Forrest chuckled, and Jane Quinlan looked at him, "What's so funny? Did I say something wrong again?"
He said to his dad, "She's just like that, straightforward and quick to speak. Don't take it to heart."
Jane Quinlan found this meal unbelievably uncomfortable.
She felt like she had never choked on food before; today was definitely a first.
After the meal, Grayson Forrest asked Jane Quinlan if she played chess.
Jane Quinlan thought for a moment and asked, "Does checkers count?"
Kay Forrest slapped his thigh and laughed again.
Grayson also shook his head and smiled.
Jane Quinlan was puzzled; had she said something wrong again?
"Dad, I think you shouldn't bother so much, we won't stay long, we're planning to leave soon."
Hearing they were leaving, Jane Quinlan felt a bit relieved.
But she saw a hint of disappointment on Grayson's face.
She remembered how Kay had accompanied her parents at her house.
She felt she really fell short compared to Kay Forrest.
