Chapter 13: Breakup Gift

Danni is a typical night owl, she won't sleep before two in the morning, and won't get up before eleven.

"Is it not okay? Or do you just not want me. Fine, I'll hang up..."

He understood and smiled, but his finger didn't press the hang-up button. Sure enough, just as he expected, as soon as "hang" was said, Danni hastily interrupted him: "Yan, don't hang up."

"How could I not miss you? I just didn't expect you to call." Danni, unusually alert, sat up with the blanket, her finger twirling the phone cord, her sweet voice carrying a teasing tone: "Yan, how is your little wife? Hasn't she gotten up yet after experiencing your prowess? How did she do? You're calling me the next day, seems like she didn't satisfy you."

"Danni, in half an hour, I want to see you at the 'Qing Ye' café near your home."

The phrase 'little wife' flashed through his mind, and Leng Yan's face immediately turned grim, but his voice remained unchanged, just like before.

"Half an hour?" Danni didn't pick up on any change on the other end, a troubled expression flashed across her face, and she coaxed softly: "Yan, I need to do my makeup, half an hour isn't enough. Wait for me a little longer, okay? I want you to see me at my most beautiful."

How could she go out looking like this, her unmade face appeared a bit haggard, nowhere near as radiant as after makeup. She has always refused to meet people without makeup, especially her beloved man. If Leng Yan saw her like this, he would never be interested in her again. The thought of this consequence frightened her.

"Half an hour, I'm leaving now."

Leng Yan's voice had a slight chill to it.

Danni didn't dare delay any longer and hurried out of bed: "Alright, I'll hurry over."

Having been with Leng Yan for a long time, she knew he was very punctual, and detested waiting for people. There was no choice but to hurry. Fortunately, the café was only a few minutes from home. If she moved swiftly, though not as polished as before, at least her face wouldn't look particularly bad.

Throwing the phone into the car, Leng Yan sat in the driver's seat, tightening his grip on the steering wheel. The image of his new little wife from last night involuntarily appeared in his mind. Although it was dark and he couldn't see her face clearly, she had an unexpectedly good figure, which gave him a sense of joy he hadn't felt in a long time...

Damn it, why think about these things? Just a gift given by the Wen Family, would he care? Not at all!

At most, she's just a companion for when he's lonely, completely dispensable!

"Yan, I'm here!"

Only two minutes late, Danni checked herself in the mirror at the café entrance, felt she looked fairly decent overall, and then sauntered in, sitting across from Leng Yan with a demure smile.

"This is for you." Leng Yan gestured to the card placed in front of her.

"Thank you, Yan, you're the best to me, I saw a really nice tie yesterday, can I buy it for you?" Danni happily took the card, quickly put it in her purse, and smiled sweetly.

"You know I never accept farewell gifts from women."

Leng Yan shook his head, his fingers idly brushing the bottom of the white porcelain coffee cup, his eyes void of any emotion.

"Yan..."

Danni didn't immediately process Leng Yan's words: "Yan, you... what did you just say? Breakup... why?"
