The Flames of War

Evelyn raced toward the battlements, her heart pounding as the first wave of enemies broke against their defenses. Arrows whistled through the air, finding their marks in the advancing ranks of soldiers clad in dark armor. The night was alive with the clash of steel, the screams of the wounded, and the furious war cries of both sides.

Kael appeared at her side, his sword dripping with fresh blood. "The eastern wall is holding for now, but they've brought siege weapons. It won't last much longer."

Evelyn clenched her fists. "We need to destroy those weapons before they breach the gates."

Lysara emerged from the shadows, her twin daggers gleaming in the firelight. "I can lead a team to sabotage them. Give me six men."

Evelyn nodded without hesitation. "Take them and go. We'll cover you."

Lysara disappeared into the chaos, moving like a phantom between the clashing forces. Evelyn turned her focus back to the battlefield. The enemy was pressing harder, their numbers seemingly endless.

Suddenly, an explosion rocked the ground beneath them. The northern wall had been hit. Smoke and debris filled the air as soldiers screamed, scrambling to hold their positions.

Kael swore under his breath. "They're relentless."

Evelyn's grip tightened around her sword. "So are we. Fight with everything you have. We cannot fall tonight."

With a fierce battle cry, she charged into the fray, determined to turn the tide of war in their favor.
