United States of America, California, Los Angeles.
As an immigrant nation, the United States is home to people from all over the world, and Los Angeles in California is like a microcosm of the world, with residents from various countries living here.
These immigrants, from different ethnic backgrounds and nations, form various small communities to help each other.
However, due to differences in interests and resources, conflicts are inevitable.
Gang fights and racial discrimination are common here.
Especially on the streets at night, the occasional gunshots can be heard.
But after living here for more than ten years, Simon had long gotten used to everything.
Simon Lewis, a transmigrator.
In his previous life, he was a failed web writer, the kind who lived in a "one person eats, the whole family doesn't starve" situation.
Eventually, perhaps due to the many complaints from readers, he was tracked down by an angry one, stabbed dozens of times, and his soul was transported to this world.
"Since I'm here, I might as well make the best of it." Simon gradually accepted the reality of this new world.
Since today was September 1st, Simon got up early to tidy himself up.
After all, in the United States' high schools, someone like Simon—handsome, well-built—was the object of affection for many girls.
To avoid disappointing the pretty, seductive classmates, Simon naturally had to dress well.
After a while, a young man with brown hair, blue eyes, wearing a T-shirt, jeans, sneakers, and glasses, walked out of the room.
Simon wasn't actually nearsighted, but he wore glasses to cover up his good looks. Otherwise, he'd surely be surrounded by eager junior and senior girls once he arrived at school.
Since he was living alone now, Simon only made a bacon and egg sandwich and heated a cup of milk for breakfast.
After finishing his breakfast, Simon casually washed his cup and plate.
When he was done, he glanced at his parents' room, sighed, shook his head, and left.
Simon's parents were workers on an offshore drilling platform. They worked on the "Deepwater Horizon," located in the Gulf of Mexico.
Because the platform was so far away, and they were working to meet deadlines, Simon's parents spent most of their time working on the platform.
Especially after Simon turned 16, his parents would only return home on holidays like National Day, Christmas, or New Year's.
National Day had just passed two months ago, so the next time they'd come back would be for Christmas.
Shaking his head, Simon locked his door, threw on his backpack, and headed outside.
He walked over to a red Ford pickup truck, which had seen better days, and unlocked the door with his key.
Throwing his backpack into the passenger seat, Simon inserted the key into the ignition and turned it.
Perhaps due to the age of the truck, it just shook a little and then didn't start.
"Damnit!"
Unable to start the engine, Simon had no choice but to get out of the driver's seat and walk around to the front of the truck.
"You need to replace the spark plugs, Simon!" a low voice sounded from behind him.
"No, what he needs is a new car. This truck must be older than my grandmother," came a sarcastic voice.
"Well, that's not funny at all, Letty," Simon rolled his eyes as he took out the spark plug, wiped it off, and put it back in.
He closed the hood, clapped his hands, and turned to the two voices.
"Dom, is there a race tonight?" Simon glanced at the nearby racing cars and asked the bald man in front of him.
Dominic Toretto, Simon's long-time neighbor, was also the leader of the local street racing gang.
But Simon knew his other identity: the main character from the Fast & Furious series.
"Yeah!" Dominic nodded.
Simon said, "I'll participate in tonight's race."
"Sure! We'll be cheering for you," Dominic replied casually.
"Thanks!"
"Good luck, boy!" Letty smiled.
"Thanks!" Simon glanced at his watch and said, "I'm gonna be late for school. We'll talk later."
He waved at the two of them and headed back to his truck.
Not long after, Simon arrived at Neptune High School, located in Neptune Town.
Neptune was a unique town.
There was no middle class here—just rich people and the workers who served them.
And the students at this school were either rich kids or poor kids of the rich.
When Simon parked his truck and got out, he saw a large crowd gathered at the entrance of the school.
Curious, Simon walked over and saw a naked Black young man, tied to a flagpole by someone.
Seeing this scene, Simon immediately understood who was responsible.
Shaking his head, he walked through the crowd and approached the man.
"Move along, buddy!" When Simon saw a student taking selfies with the tied-up Black man, he spoke up.
The student, who recognized Simon, didn't say anything, put away his phone, and walked away.
Once the student left, Simon pulled out a Swiss army knife and began cutting the tape that bound the Black man.
At that moment, a blonde beauty also took out a knife and began doing the same.
"You shouldn't be here, Veronica," Simon said to the girl.
Veronica Mars, the daughter of a former sheriff, a private investigator, and the lead character of the TV show Veronica Mars.
Moreover, she also happened to be Simon's ex-girlfriend.
Veronica didn't respond to Simon, instead asking the Black student, "Are you new here?"
The Black student nodded, silently acknowledging.
"Well then, welcome to Neptune High!" Simon smiled at the new student.
The Black student didn't speak, giving a helpless expression.
After the two of them freed the man, the school bell rang, signaling the start of class.
Simon turned to Veronica and said, "Veronica, I'll take him to change clothes. You go to class."
Veronica glanced at the two of them, then turned to the students who were still watching and said, "Alright, pirates, let's go."
With that, Veronica walked into the campus, followed by the students.
Simon led the Black student to his truck and pulled out a set of spare clothes from the back.
After the student changed, he thanked Simon, saying, "I'm Wallace, Wallace Faye. Thanks so much for your help."
