"Sorry! I hate to interrupt, but could you come over for a minute, Simon?"
Just as the warm moment between Simon and Meg was unfolding, a voice interrupted them.
Simon let go of Meg, and saw Sarah and Casey, the two agents, walking toward him.
"Wait in the car for me! I'll be back soon!" Simon instructed Meg to leave first.
Meg glanced at Sarah and Casey, nodded, and got into the car.
"Keep your mouth shut about today's events. Trust me, if anyone else finds out, you'll be in serious trouble," Sarah warned.
"How bad of trouble?" Simon asked.
Casey coldly added, "The least trouble you'd be in is staying in jail until we feel you're no longer a threat. Or we could make you disappear—just one little accident, and you'll be gone."
Faced with such a blatant threat, Simon raised his hands in surrender: "Okay! Don't worry, I won't tell anyone about what happened today. Honestly, I don't even know what you and Chuck's real identities are, right?"
"Whether you know or not, we'll be investigating. For now, stay out of town. Any sudden movements, we might consider it an attempt to escape," Sarah warned.
Simon nodded, "Don't worry! I won't do anything rash."
"Good! We'll be in touch," Casey patted Simon on the shoulder.
"If there's nothing else, I should get going. My girlfriend is waiting for me," Simon said calmly.
"Sure, you can leave."
Without any further farewells, Simon turned around and walked back to the car.
"Simon, what's wrong?" Meg asked, noticing Simon's unusual expression.
Simon shook his head: "Nothing! It's getting late, let me drive you home."
"Alright." Since Simon didn't want to talk, Meg didn't press the issue.
After dropping Meg off at her house, Simon returned home. Despite it being late, Simon couldn't bring himself to sleep.
What had happened today made Simon realize that rushing into things wasn't always the best approach.
Like this time—his actions had already surpassed his own abilities. He knew Chuck was involved in national security, and yet he still got involved—that was essentially asking for trouble.
Simon understood that if he had shown any sign of suspicion or posed any kind of threat, Sarah and Casey would likely have dealt with him immediately.
Even so, Simon suspected that in a few days, he'd be taken in for a secret investigation and questioning. Only after they confirmed he was no threat would they possibly let him go.
Of course, that would be the best-case scenario.
Simon also had to worry about any "accidents" that might happen in the future—these so-called accidents might just end his life.
Amidst all the worries, Simon unknowingly fell asleep.
When Simon woke up the next morning, it was already the following day.
He threw on a denim jacket, took off his regular glasses, and put on his sunglasses as he stepped outside.
"It's time to go, buddy!"
Outside, Dominic and his crew of street racers were already gathered on the road.
From one end of the street to the other, it was filled with people racing.
"Thanks, guys!" Simon thanked them.
"Family never needs thanks! Get in the car, buddy!" Dominic waved him over.
Simon nodded and, driving his own racing car, led the way to school.
After some time, Simon and his crew of street racers arrived at the school.
Many students stopped in their tracks, watching the rare sight.
When Simon got out of the lead car, everyone froze.
He took off his sunglasses, glanced at the quiet students, and then turned to wave at Dominic and the others.
Dominic and his crew nodded at Simon, then drove off.
Ignoring the students who were intimidated by him, Simon walked confidently into the school.
As soon as he entered the campus, Simon found Meg.
"How's everything? Did anyone bother you last night?" Simon asked.
Meg nodded, "Much better. Aside from a few people sending some adult emails, there haven't been any harassing phone calls."
"Don't worry, after today, no one should bother you again!" Simon said confidently.
"What did you do?" Meg couldn't help but ask.
Simon smiled and explained, "Nothing much! Just flexed a little muscle."
"That's it?"
"That's it!"
"Alright! I hope things are really as you say." Meg sighed.
At lunchtime, while Simon and Meg were eating, Veronica came over.
"I heard about this morning! Very brave, but also very foolish!" Veronica sat down and said bluntly.
Simon frowned, "I accept brave, but what do you mean by foolish?"
"Flexing your muscle wasn't wrong, but you went a little overboard. I believe the school will definitely be keeping an eye on you from now on," Veronica said, for once, trying to explain with some kindness.
Simon shrugged, "As long as I don't do anything wrong, what can the school do to me?"
"That's true! But you'll be labeled from now on. If anything happens, they'll immediately think of you," Veronica said with deep feeling.
Simon understood what Veronica meant—just like her, now everyone would always assume it was her fault if anything happened.
"Isn't that great? I'll draw some fire away from you, so your life will be a little easier, right?" Simon joked half-heartedly.
Veronica rolled her eyes at him, "Well, I really appreciate that!"
"Alright, back to business! How's the investigation going on your side?" Simon asked.
Veronica took out a notebook and said, "I've been looking into two directions—one is the website's creator, the other is the person who manages the school passwords."
"As for the website creator, I don't think it's worth diving into. The real problem is that someone submitted the test report using Meg's name. In other words, the root of the problem is that the password was stolen," Simon shared his opinion.
Veronica nodded, "Just as I thought. That's why I'm now focusing on the person who manages the passwords. But this person doesn't seem to have anything suspicious."
"The more normal someone seems, the more suspicious they might actually be," Simon said, stating the classic detective truth.
"I get it! Don't worry, I'll give you a satisfactory answer," Veronica promised.
"Thanks!" Simon expressed his gratitude.
"I'm helping you not just because of your money, but because of Meg. So you don't need to thank me," Veronica added.
