"Where did this fool come from? With such skills, he thinks he can beat Dom?"
As Hector raised his hand to signal the start, the four modified race cars shot off the starting line.
However, it was immediately clear who the best driver was.
Dominic was the top-tier when it came to timing and control.
As for Brian, who was determined to defeat Dominic, his shaky start clearly showed that he was a novice.
Letty couldn't help but laugh at him.
Simon smiled, "At least he's brave! Knowing he can't win, yet still trying his best. It's stupid, but it's brave."
"Stupid, I totally agree. As for brave, well, forget it!" Letty laughed.
"Letty, be nice," Simon glanced at Mia beside him and jokingly reminded her.
Letty noticed Mia's expression and said with no sincerity, "Sorry, Mia!"
Mia rolled her eyes at both of them and continued to watch the race.
By this point, the cars were entering the final stretch.
Brian, after using his nitrous system twice, was ahead with sparks flying.
But it was obvious to anyone watching that this lead wouldn't last.
Just as they approached the finish line, Dominic, who had been holding back, activated his nitrous system.
As expected, Dominic's car swiftly passed Brian, crossing the finish line first.
Brian followed closely behind, but as soon as he crossed the finish line, the front of his car started spewing smoke.
It was clear that the engine had overheated and caused a cylinder misfire.
By the time everyone had returned to the starting line, Brian had just arrived.
When Brian returned, Jesse and the others rushed over to check his car.
Despite losing the race and his car, Brian didn't seem too upset.
"What are you smiling about?" Dominic couldn't help but ask.
"I almost beat you!" Brian said happily.
As soon as he said that, everyone around him started booing.
"Almost beat me?" Dominic laughed, pointing at Brian. "You didn't beat me. You don't even have a car anymore."
Dominic lectured him, "When you shifted gears, you were all over the place. That's not how you double-clutch! With that skill, you dare say you almost beat me!"
Dominic's words made everyone laugh.
"Mia, I suggest you reconsider. This Brian, his brain doesn't work too well," Simon joked from the side.
Mia shot Simon a glance. "Ha, next time I see Meg, I'm telling her all your embarrassing stories from childhood."
"Hey, you can't do that!" Simon protested.
"If you don't want me to, then shut up!" Mia said fiercely.
Simon raised his hands in surrender and made a silent gesture.
"Oh, shit! The cops are here, go, go, go!"
At that moment, someone who had been monitoring the police signals shouted through a megaphone.
Hearing the cops were coming, the group immediately scattered.
Simon wasn't about to stay and get caught. He quickly returned to his car and started it up.
Not long after, the sound of sirens filled the air.
Without hesitation, Simon sped away from the scene.
After a while, Simon, having shaken off the cops, picked up his phone to make a call.
After confirming that Letty and the others were safe, Simon went to look for Dominic.
Simon remembered that if it weren't for Brian rescuing him, Dominic would have almost been caught in this race.
Simon had originally planned to follow the plot, but after seeing Brian's driving skills, he feared that both of them might get caught.
Luckily, Simon knew Dominic's escape plan, and it didn't take long for him to find him near a parking lot.
At that moment, Dominic seemed to be in trouble, being chased by police cars.
But just as things seemed dire, Brian pulled up in front of Dominic's car and picked him up.
Seeing this, Simon shook his head and followed them.
The police had clearly marked Dominic as a prime target, and as soon as they spotted him, numerous police cars surrounded Brian's car.
Seeing the police closing in, Simon waited for the right moment and used his car's tail to push one of the police cars out of the way.
"Go!" Simon shouted to Brian.
Brian nodded and, taking advantage of the opening Simon created, sped through the gap and escaped the trap.
Simon didn't dare linger either. He quickly left before the police regrouped.
Perhaps Simon's actions had angered the police, as a large portion of them started chasing him instead.
Though there were many police cars, Simon wasn't easy to catch.
With it being late at night and there being little traffic, and the helicopters struggling to spot him in the darkness, Simon made a sharp U-turn in a tunnel, cutting off his headlights. He quickly slid into the opposite lane.
By the time the police reached the tunnel, they had lost his trail.
After evading the police, Simon drove toward home.
However, not far from his destination, he spotted Brian and Dominic walking on foot.
"I say, you two, is this a date? Should I give you some money for a hotel?" Simon joked as he slowly drove up to them.
"Come on, that's not funny at all! Stop the car, I need a ride!" Dominic said with some frustration.
Hearing this, Simon smiled and stopped the car.
As soon as he stopped, Dominic was about to sit in the passenger seat.
Thinking for a moment, Dominic looked at Brian. "Do you need a ride?"
"Of course!" Brian smiled.
"Hey, I'm not a taxi!" Simon laughed.
Dominic also smiled and pointed at Brian. "Okay, he owes you a hundred bucks for the ride."
Brian shrugged with a helpless smile.
"Get in, then!" Simon smiled and ordered.
Half an hour later, Simon dropped the two of them off at his house.
Looking at the lively music from the neighbor's house, Simon chuckled. "Dom, looks like they've forgotten about you."
"Yeah," Dominic shook his head and asked, "Are you coming in?"
"Forget it, I have school tomorrow. You guys have fun," Simon declined.
Dominic didn't insist, then looked at Brian. "Want to come in for a drink?"
"Got any beer?" Brian asked.
"Of course!"
"By the way," seeing the two of them about to leave, Simon said, "Don't forget to fix my car!"
"No problem, buddy."
