The Truth Revealed

"Simon, I'm so glad you're okay."

Once everything had settled, Meg arrived at the helipad in a black SUV.

"Meg, are you alright?" Simon asked, concerned as he saw her stepping out of the vehicle.

"Don't worry! I arranged for her to be brought here. These are our people," Sarah explained as she approached.

Hearing this, Simon nodded in appreciation. "Thanks!"

"If anything, we should be thanking you. Without your help, we wouldn't have been able to save Chuck," Sarah said while glancing toward Chuck, who was being loaded into an ambulance.

Simon shook his head. "No need to thank me. Chuck is my friend, and I won't let anyone harm my friends or family."

Sarah smiled. "I can see that."

"For today's events, we'd appreciate it if you kept quiet. As a token of gratitude, we'll cover your helicopter rental fees. How does that sound?" Sarah offered.

Hearing this, Simon readily agreed. "Sounds good."

"Great! Now, you two can leave. Someone will be in touch with you later." Sarah extended her hand.

"Alright, I won't get in your way."

With that, Simon took Meg and continued their night tour of the city.

As they left, Casey approached Sarah. "Do you think we can trust that kid?"

"For now, I don't see anything suspicious about him," Sarah replied.

Casey scoffed. "A street-racing champion who can fly helicopters, knows martial arts, and has decent marksmanship? You think someone like that is just a normal guy?"

"And besides, both times we've run into him, it's been under circumstances like this. Don't you find that too much of a coincidence?" Casey added.

Sarah countered, "Don't forget, he booked this helicopter trip two days ago. Do you really think he has the ability to predict the future? Casey, you're being too paranoid."

Casey grunted. "I'll remain skeptical. Simon's presence is too convenient. For Chuck's safety, I think we should find a way to keep him at a distance."

Sarah reminded him, "Don't forget, Simon is Chuck's friend. If Chuck finds out we're trying to push his friend away, he might refuse to cooperate."

That reminder made Casey pause. Knowing Chuck's personality, this could indeed become a problem.

"Fine, I'll report this to the higher-ups. Let the general decide how to deal with it," Casey finally relented.

Neither of them realized that Simon was completely unaware of their conversation.

At this moment, Simon was simply enjoying a peaceful drive with Meg.

The next day, Veronica approached Simon.

"Judging by your expression, I assume you have results. Go ahead, tell me," Simon said, knowing Veronica well enough to recognize her triumphant smile.

Veronica grinned mysteriously. "Not just yet! Remember, I'm not just uncovering the truth—I'm also making sure Meg's reputation is restored… and, of course, mine too."

"Got it! So, that means the email from yesterday wasn't from you?" Simon teased.

Veronica winced as if she wanted to crawl into a hole. "Don't even bring that up! That email made me sick—seriously sick! And for the record, I do NOT have an STD!"

Simon chuckled. "I'm really curious now—who holds such a grudge against you?"

Veronica rolled her eyes. "Dude, don't get too excited. Let me be honest: you were just collateral damage. The real target was someone else."

Hearing this, Simon suddenly understood. "Oh, so it was about Duncan! And you were in the way? Now I'm even more curious—who's bold enough to mess with you?"

"You'll find out soon enough."

Seeing that Veronica wasn't ready to spill all the details, Simon raised his hands in surrender. "Alright, you win! You've officially piqued my curiosity."

"Having anticipation makes surprises more fun. For now, don't tell Meg—I want it to be a surprise," Veronica requested.

Simon nodded. "No problem!"

"Okay! I have to head to class. I don't want people thinking I'm trying to seduce my ex-boyfriend again," Veronica joked.

"Why care? Our reputations are already in the gutter. Besides, I wouldn't mind," Simon smirked.

"Screw you!" Veronica flipped him off playfully before walking away.

Now that Meg's issue was about to be resolved, Simon finally felt a weight lifting off his shoulders.

---

Later that morning, during the school's news segment, Simon got his answer.

It all boiled down to jealousy.

The one who took Meg's test and submitted it under her name was her classmate, Kimmy.

Kimmy had always been envious of Meg, who had everything she wanted—news anchor, lead in the school musical, and captain of the cheerleading squad. So, out of spite, she set Meg up.

As for Veronica, someone else had been targeting her because they had a crush on her ex-boyfriend, Duncan. They hoped to ruin her reputation and drive her away.

"It's funny. Now that the truth is out, so many people have come up to me, saying they never believed the rumors. But honestly, I don't even care anymore," Meg said at lunch, sitting with Simon and Veronica.

Simon nodded approvingly. "Good! That's the right mindset. If you let other people's words dictate how you feel, the only one getting hurt is you."

"What's strange is that no one's come to apologize to me," Veronica said, frowning.

Simon couldn't help but burst into laughter. "Do you really not know why?"

"Screw you!" Veronica smacked Simon with her book.

Wallace, watching the two of them banter, asked a crucial question: "By the way, who actually started this whole purity test thing?"

At that question, Simon and Veronica both chuckled.

Simon said, "No need to dig too deep into that. Just remember—next time you see a test like that, just close the window."

Seeing Simon and Veronica acting so smug, Meg sighed. "You guys are so annoying."

"Yeah, I totally agree," Wallace added.

Seeing Meg's frustration, Simon finally relented. "Alright, come closer—I'll tell you."

Hearing that, Meg perked up and leaned in.

Wallace turned to Veronica expectantly.

Veronica, however, gave him a disgusted look. "Don't even think about it—I'm not going to whisper in your ear."

"But I can tell you who started the test," she added.

"Who?" Wallace asked eagerly.

"Meg's little sister—Lizzie."
