the unfavoured soul and the spectator

???:"The child is unfavoured." Was the last words i heard before it all changed.

Born in a family of weaponsmiths, I was a completely normal child with no fear of anything. in this world, favour or rather blessings are considered to be core of hierarchy. Every child who turns 7 has to be taken to a temple and given his first blessing But... I was one of the 10% who were unfavoured, abandoned my parents, i roamed the streets. The unfavoured were considered lowest among living beings, even some animals were higher in status.

???: This vermin is talking to himself again, can't we just kill him already?

A small red person with small horns and small red bat like wings with a height of 4 feet, a imp said to his fellow imps as they carry a cart of multiple children of different races in a cage.

The captain imp: Do it and I will replace him with you for lord malir's experiments.

Red Imp: Geez no thanks,* goes to the back of the caravan* Sometimes I feel myself pathetic but then I saw these unfavoured and feel relieved.. what did that grey haired vermin even experience to become like that?

A yellow imp: Apparently that guy was one of those unfavoured born in a flavoured family.

Red Imp: That's just worse than expected, what are the chances to have no favour from even neutral faction gods after having blessed parents?

Blue imp: *arrives from the side* Less than one in 10 million.

Yellow imp: if he had opposite luck then maybe even a supreme tier agent's blessing was not far off.

Red Imp: even I am beginning to feel pity for that S**t.

Blue imp: Pity? nah we don't do that in kingdom of infernos. We are demons and that's just your stomach talking.

Yellow imp: Anybody would be if they had good quality human meat in front of them but had to eat these damn salamanders.

Captain imp: We have reached the camp site, set up the tents.

Every other imp: YES CAPTAIN* with a salute*

Night falls, darkness arises as the sun sets.

???: what do you think pather? Maybe I will get lucky and escape.

A voice talks back to the boy from the void.

Pather: Maybe is not a guarantee but there is nothing you could do except hope. Zephyrix.

Zephyrix:*leans back* still your life is weirder than me, a spectator who writes Stories for other spectators like itself.

Pather: in a repetative life, stories can be a much needed relief but what is weirder is you talking to me.

Zephyrix: What nobody else ever talk to you spectators?

Pather: some do but the talk is mostly one sided... I feel like the other's might get bored if I just sit here talking to you, so let me go get info while we are waiting anyway.

The scene changes to the leader's tent.

Pather: crude and uncut leather as tent cloth? I have seen goblins use better in other worlds.

A servant walks out after being beaten up by the captain, a yellow imp barely 3 feets tall with bruised skin.

Yellow imp: This life is hell.. no it's worse than hell. Even if I can't run away I can atleast help these children run away. If they get caught it's their fate and if they escape I can pray for them.

Pather: He may be unlucky in the favour but it looks like it is not the end today for him.

The scene shifts back to the cage.

Pather: Oi, I got some good info. Maybe the others will like this plot.

Zephyrix: using me as a story character, your story might as well be a flop*scratches his chin* if I remember what that is.

Pather: worth a try atleast. Also you got some luck atleast, one of those unfavoured servant imps is gonna release you all and end his miserable life.

Zephyrix: that might one of the best news I ever got. Maybe we should tell the others?

Pather:and who will believe you? They have already lost all hope, look at them shrudders and lay around with pained thoughts. It is better if you go near the cage door so you can have a better running chance.

Zephyrix: that's a pretty good idea, they have treated me this whole journey like a psycho, so why should I care about them?

Zephyrix stands up and talks to a dwarf boy near the door.

Zephyrix: hey friend why don't you change spots, I feel like eating some wind and you could stay away from the batons?

The boy with his blank and pained arm silently agrees and changes the spots with pleasure while mocking zephyrix.

Pather: Pathetic one that is. Even a dog knows that the food comes from the door and sitting near the door will be better to get food first.

Zephyrix: Not everyone is smart ok? If I didn't have you to talk to I would be just like them, 12 years old idiots in their own dreams.

Pather: Shut up and focus, here he comes.

Zephyrix: 'which one?'

Pather: the smaller yellow one and also to the others the ' symbols are used for thoughts or telepathically communication.

Zephyrix:'there you go again talking to others'

The dwarf imp comes closer and looks at zephyrix, he lifts the food door at the bottom of the main door and slips a small food trey in.

The kids each take something and some even go hungry unable to take food from others.

Imp: listen kids, I can open these cuffs and the door but if they catch you then it's over for you, I am gonna kill myself anyway so if you wanna have chance come closer.

The other kids back off with fear except zephyrix.

Zephyrix: I don't mind, better than dying as a experiment subject.

The imp unlocks the door and removes the cuffs off zephyrix but the others keep away in fear and inwardly laugh at stupidity of the idiot.

Zephyrix: 'let them mock I hope they have fun dying in those lab cells' .

Pather: i agree, a slow and painful death is much worse than a quick and painless, even better if you can have chance to avoid death on the latter. Lemme get a better view.

From the skies above, the land is filled with a far stretching forest to the east with its red soil, dark black wood and yellow leaves trees and small animals. The other side is a barren desert, a open field i must say.

Zephyrix: 'forest is the obvious choice here, I can't run away from those arrows on a unstable footing in open field.'

Pather: let him start the distraction first.

A few minutes latter, a towering inferno erupts in the captain's tent and a blood curdling scream rang through the place. The guards all dash towards the tent.

Pather: NOW.

Zephyrix jumps out of the cart while other look around before realising that they could have escaped if they also had their cuffs removed. Zephyrix ran through the trees while I helped him travel a safe path.

Zephyrix: what did he huff even do?

Pather: the guy lighted the tent on fire and stabbed the captain with a kitchen knife but he couldn't finish in one hit and got absolutely destroyed with some sort of heat blast.

Zephyrix: let's pray for him to get a better life next time.
