Chapter 2

Afterward, Saigo used the remaining six simulation chances.

First, he selected the skill: Ki Control (68/100).

Second, he chose the skill: Ki Perception (50/100).

For the third through sixth attempts, he opted for combat power rewards, increasing his combat power by a total of 5700.

Saigo glanced at the system panel's information with satisfaction.

Saigo found the race and gender fields too verbose and decided to see if he could delete them—and succeeded. Such a user-friendly design delighted him.

Satisfied, Saigo drifted off to sleep, even dreaming that he not only became the king of the Saiyans but also married numerous wives.

However, just as the dream reached its critical point, he was abruptly awakened, much to his frustration.

Two caretakers, noticing Saigo drooling, assumed he was hungry and quickly handed him a bottle of pale white nutrient solution.

"Master Saigo, you must be hungry. Have some of this, and then we'll eat together."

Saigo shot them a sideways glance, took the bottle skillfully, and drank. Since he could consume it during the simulation, he figured it wouldn't taste too bad.

After a few gulps, he mused:

Bleh. It has a bit of a fishy taste. Probably either human milk or beast milk. Typical Saiyans—if they knew how to cook properly, Lord Beerus wouldn't have been so annoyed as to nearly destroy the entire race.

While drinking the "nutrient solution," Saigo noticed one of the caretakers leaving. Before exiting, the two exchanged whispered words, and the departing one glanced back at him.

This scene aroused Saigo's suspicion. He figured it must concern him and immediately approached the remaining caretaker to inquire.

"Hey! What's my current combat power?"

"Ah? Oh, Master Saigo, your combat power is now 1000. That's 34 higher than yesterday and 100 higher than when you were first nurtured."

Saigo nodded inwardly; it aligned with his estimates and the simulation's results. He then asked, "Why did that guy leave just now?"

"Master, he went to report your condition to King Vegeta. After all, aside from Prince Vegeta, you are the highest-born upper-class warrior."

Saigo raised an eyebrow at this and said, "Got it. You can go about your business now."

"Yes, Master. Please rest well!"

Saigo absentmindedly waved them off and walked away.

Surely, King Vegeta wouldn't be so petty, right? Broly had a birth combat power of 10,000—that's a real threat. I was born with only 900, and after nurturing, I'm at 1000. That's perfectly normal, isn't it?!

No way. Better simulate to check!

Saigo wasted no time. In front of a group of other infants, he summoned the system panel. Relieved they couldn't see it, he began the simulation.

[March 2]: One of the caretakers stared at you for a moment before leaving. Their whispered conversation with the other raised your suspicions. Being intelligent, you recalled that Prince Vegeta's birth combat power was 1000, while yours was merely 900. Surely King Vegeta wouldn't target you. Despite wanting to escape, you knew it was impractical and trusted your assumptions. After a nerve-wracking wait, the caretaker returned alone, easing your concerns.

Saigo twitched at the corner of his eye, inwardly cursing:

Where did you get such misplaced confidence, buddy? Escape with a spaceship already! With 6000+ combat power, you can definitely hijack one! The simulated version of me is absolutely not me!

Still, he felt relieved. If King Vegeta wasn't bothered, he could lay low.

He continued reading:

[...] You followed the caretaker to check the number of upper-class warriors among your peers and their current combat power. Among the infants under Caretaker No. 15, only you were an upper-class warrior. There were two middle-class warriors, and the remaining 17 were lower-class warriors. Among these 17 was King Vegeta's younger son, Tarble, whose combat power was only 180!

[Noon]: After a meal, 20 Saiyan infants were taken to the training camp. Leveraging your superior power, you effortlessly defeated all your peers. Intentionally slowing down to hone your combat skills, you eventually earned the right to live alone and exemption from group training. To avoid exposure, you moved into a single residence under the instructor's guidance.

Once inside, you locked the door and began training tirelessly, completing a day's regimen late into the night. A scouter revealed a combat power increase of 50, leaving you content as you washed up and went to bed.

[March 3]: Trained hard. Combat power +50.

[...]

[April 1]: Trained hard. Combat power +50.

The simulation ended.

Saigo pondered for a moment and chose the skill. He understood that his victories in the simulation stemmed from significantly superior combat power. Opponents' movements appeared slow, making his victories inevitable. The martial arts skill came at just the right time!

Elsewhere, in the Saiyan royal palace.

"Combat power of 1000 after nurturing? Decent talent."

"Let's do this—inform the person in charge of the training program to send Saigo and Tarble to a remote planet together after training. Saigo is to protect Tarble. After all, Tarble is my son, even if he's just a lower-class warrior," King Vegeta remarked leisurely, a flicker of surprise in his eyes.

"Yes, King Vegeta! I'll see to it immediately!" The caretaker bowed and left swiftly.

Watching the retreating figure, King Vegeta muttered:

"Tarble, my son, as your father, this is all I can do for you. With Saigo's protection, at least you'll grow up safely."

"Saigo, huh? Tch. It's surprising that two middle-class warriors managed to produce an upper-class warrior. But I heard his parents died during a mission."

"Hmph! Combat power of 1000? My son, Vegeta IV, had 1000 at birth and reached 1800 after nurturing!"

"The strongest Saiyan bloodline will always belong to the royal family!"

"Vegeta, my son, don't disappoint your father!"
