Chapter 7

Aunty peace never cared about Alex and thonia or even felt pity on her for the wound on her hand, they were all busy enjoying themselves in the dinning eating jollof rice and some fried Chicken with soft drinks too.

They never thought about what thonia and Alex would eat, whereas they were the ones doing all the cleaning since morning.

Thonia and Alex returned home.and thonia was supposed to eat before taking her drugs, but there was no food for them.so they sat at the back yard waiting to see if she would call them to come take their food, but they waited in vain.

 "Thonia am so hungry, I don't think we are going to eat anything today", said Alex.

 "Even me too, am even feeling dizzy", said Thonia.

 "I better go buy some food with the little remaining change before we die of hunger here", said Alex.

 "How much is remaining? thonia asked.

 "It's four hundred Naria only", Alex replied.

 "So what are we going to buy with it", asked Thonia.

 "I will use it to buy bread so we can eat.besides you have to even eat something before taking the drugs", Alex replied.

 "Alright then.you better come back quickly before aunty peace comes out of the house", thonia said.

Then he left the house to go buy the bread before aunty peace noticed he left the house.

Thonia waited patiently for Alex to return, suddenly the back door opened and immediately she stood up from the ground where she was sitting.she thought it was aunty peace, only for her to see that it was Micheal.

 "I warned you but you wouldn't listen, now look what you have gotten your self into",he said as he came close to her.

 "Go away from me,I hate you", she said.

 "What have I done to you that made you hate me",he asked.

 "Stop pretending as if you don't know what you did, you did so many things to me and it's too many to start listing.and now your mom hurt me with a knife", she replied.

 "Am so sorry please forgive me.it won't happen again.just come to bed with me and I promise no body is going to hurt you ever again in this house.not even my mom",he said as he tried to touch her breast.

 "Stop it!, what are you trying to do", she asked.

 "Thonia would you just give me a chance for once",he said.

 "A chance to do what!", she asked in anger.

 "Fine!,I see you don't want to give me what am asking for, but anyways tell your so called brother to meet me in my room.he gat to iron some of my clothes",he said as he went back inside.

Alex came back from buying the bread, and he noticed a sad look on thonia's face.

 "What's the problem thonia,did she came out",he asked.

 "No she didn't", she replied.

 "So why are you looking this sad",he asked.

 "Nothing, just that the wound really hurts. anyways, Micheal said that you should come over to his room and collect some of his clothes that you would iron for him", she replied.

 "He's not going to the drycleaners shop again",he asked.

 "I don't know"she replied.

 "Did he say anything to you!?",he asked.

 "No!", she replied.

 "Okay",he said.

 "But why did you ask", she asked.

 "Nothing, just wanted to know",he replied.

Then he brought out the bread that they were both going to eat.

Later at night, Micheal and ifeoma had gone for the party. thonia was in the dinning feeding Victor his dinner. Alex was outside the compound waiting to see when Micheal and ifeoma would return home so he would open up the gate for them. As thonia was still feeding Victor in the dinning,then aunty peace came down stairs and saw that thonia had treated the wound on her hand.

 "Thonia!!", she shouted her name in a loud voice.

Immediately fear grabbed thonia and she stood up immediately from the dinning chair.

 "Ye-yes Ma", she replied.

 "When did you started stealing my money", asked aunty peace.

 "Which money are you talking about ma", thonia asked in Surprise.

 "So it has gotten to this extend that you would go into my room and steal my money right!", she asked again.

 "I don't understand, what money are you talking about because I didn't take any money from your room", said thonia.

 "Who gave you the money you use in treat the wound", asked aunty peace.

 "It's Michael,he actually gave me money to treat the wound", thonia replied.

 "Michael gave you money and you collected it without my consent, what have you been doing for him that made him give you money to treat the wound", asked aunty peace.

 "Nothing ma,he just gave me the money", thonia replied.

 "How much did he even gave you", she asked.

 "It's three thousand naira", she replied.

 "Three what!, okay where's the remaining change?", aunty peace asked.

 "There's no change ma", thonia replied.

 "What do you mean there's no change, you are such a bloody lier!.by the time I deal with you, you will give me the remaining money", said aunty peace as she pounced on thonia and began to give her the beating of her life.

Thonia screamed so loud for help but Alex wasn't close by.aunty peace beat her up so badly that she even hit her head on the wall and was also using her slippers to hit thonia on her arm that result to it bleeding again.

Alex was still waiting for Michael and ifeoma to return back home, suddenly he began to hear noise coming from inside the house.then he ran inside to know what was happening.on reaching there,he saw aunty peace beating thonia,then he rushed and pushed Aunty peace away from thonia.

 "What's the problem, what is going on here",he asked.

 "Oh, you have come to fight for your stupid sister right!?"asked aunty peace.

 "I don't understand, what is it again.what has my sister done this time", asked Alex.

 "You and your sister are thiefs", she replied.

 "We are not thiefs, so stop calling us a thief because we haven't stolen anything from you",Alex replied.

 "Where is the remaining money that Micheal gave your stupid sister to use in treating her self", asked aunty peace.

 "Which money, Micheal didn't give her any money,he gave me the money.and beside the money is finished.we used the change to buy the bread we ate",he replied.

 "Look how you are talking as if we did something wrong!, you didn't give us any food, so we used the remaining money to buy bread because we were very hungry and also I have to eat something before taking the drugs we bought", said thonia as she was still crying.

 "So you still have the gurt to talk to me right!?", asked aunty peace.

Then she pounced on thonia again but this time Alex stopped her.

While they were still dragging, Micheal and ifeoma came back home.so they began to hear noise coming from the sitting room, so they rushed inside to see what was going on. immediately they came in, aunty peace feel to the ground pretending she was hurt.
