Chapter 12 - Retaliation

From a distance, Mia and Rei watch the scene in horror, unable to believe what is happening.
On one side lies the corpse of Takayo's mother, drenched in blood and pieces of flesh.
Next to it, a grotesquely large figure is devouring Mr. Lincoln's body, its face contorted as it chews, crushes, and breaks his bones.
In front of the monster, sobbing and gasping, is Takayo, paralyzed by fear and the overwhelming aura of the demonic creature.
And from another perspective, Kazuki stands, mortally wounded in the chest. He rests his weight on an iron sword embedded in the ground and watches as the creatures before him mock his pathetic condition.

Amidst the whirlwind of self-deprecating emotions, Mia begins to show signs of psychological trauma.
As a result, the girl regresses into a state of shock, remembering the day she was kidnapped and nearly killed by monsters with similar appearances to the Demogorges. She shakes with fear and looks down.
Rei, also terrified, his stomach churning to the point of vomiting from the vivid memories of the carnage he witnessed, tries to calm himself.
During his pause, he notices that the girl next to him is in even worse shape.
The boy had promised the Beastman that he would take care of Mia. Even in the extreme circumstances of panic and fear, the student closes his eyes for a few seconds and thinks about what he can do in the midst of all the chaos.
When he opens his eyes after a few moments, he formulates a plan in his mind - one that, unlike before, now allows him to think logically.
He turns to the girl beside him, puts his hands on her shoulders and says: — Mia, look at me.
— Mia! — Upon hearing Rei's voice, the girl regains consciousness and lifts her downcast eyes to meet his.
— Concentrate on my face, okay?
— Do you remember when I saved you before? Everything will be fine, trust me, okay?
"I have to do something... I can't let that child be killed."
"Why do I feel like this? Please, body, don't fail me like before."
Rei then crouches down and signals for the girl to climb on his back.
The boy begins to run quickly while the girl wraps her arms around the student's neck.

Still a bit far away, but close enough to Takayo's location, Rei casts a skill before the demogorgon can attack the boy lying on the ground.
— Telekinesis
As soon as the words are spoken, the creature slowly rises from the surface, gradually floating until it hovers in the air, about 3 to 4 meters above the ground.
— Black Spheres
Three magical spheres of pure chaos are created and launched at the creature affected by telekinesis. When they make contact with the creature's skin, they pierce a portion of its layer and then explode.

As the effects of the explosion gradually dissipate, Rei, now close to Takayo, notices that the creature remains intact, with no visible injuries or wounds on its body.
Only a small scratch can be seen on its wings. (Demogorges are creatures with a high resistance to magic.)
"The ability... didn't affect it?"
He thinks, scanning the entire body of the creature, which is still floating. He notices a small tear between its wings.
"You've got to be kidding me... that's all the damage it took?"
"What do I do now? That's my only offensive skill... Fuck."
"I have the °Creation° skill, but I won't be able to focus enough to create anything useful right now..."
"My only option is to use °Black Orb° as many times as possible until that bastard falls. I saw that it did some damage... So one way or another, this demon is going to die."
Realizing his makeshift and sloppy plan, the boy points his hands toward the monster, channeling the ether from the atmosphere, and relentlessly casting his Black Spheres skill over and over again.

Panting after casting the skill countless times, the demogorgon, still affected by telekinesis, falls to the ground... creating a deafening crash and a shockwave that shakes the surrounding area.
Incredibly, it still appears to be alive... But after a few seconds, the creature dies. Its skin partially disintegrates, and a large amount of its black liquid spills onto the ground, soaking the feet of those nearby.

After finally killing the demogorgon, Mia, still on Rei's back, gets down and goes to Takayo, who is lying on the ground, covered in some kind of black liquid that the monster expelled before it died.
— Tak... Takayo — the girl calls and hugs him, not caring about the dirt.
As soon as he feels Mia's arms around him, her warmth, the boy comes back to reality. He cries with her.
