Chapter 50 - Violence Solves Everything

❖ ❖ ❖

The two men finally find the courage to confront Kazuki, their tone more ironic and mocking than before, refusing to back down or admit their mistakes.

The thought running through their minds as they argue with the Beastman is based on assumptions and wishful thinking, something like: "This guy can't do anything. After all, we're in the refuge. How could he hurt us? The elves wouldn't tolerate such barbaric behaviour".

— Have we offended you? Who cares? — declared the fat man beside him, unable to hide his look of disgust as he stared at the beastman. — He should feel honored by everything we said. — He then let out a disguised smirk before closing his mouth and spitting on the ground.

The strangers didn't stop their comments and continued to insult the boy and even the beastman, throwing countless other derogatory remarks at him.

With his patience at its limit, Kazuki furrowed his brow, his expression hardening, a vein bulging almost visibly from his neck.

Meanwhile, Rei just watched the strangers with disinterest, even letting out a yawn as he listened to their tiresome speech from a distance. At first, the student had been annoyed, but after hearing the conversation drag on, he just observed how far they would go with their nonsense.

— You'd better take back everything you said about him, or else you're fucked... — Kazuki challenged, his voice carrying an aggressive edge as he stared them down.

Despite their fear, the two men responded to the threat by saying that this was a sacred place and he couldn't attack anyone there.

"Seriously? Sacred place? I've never heard such bullshit in my life... They must be joking. I'm done with this drama."

The student thought, laughing at the situation before taking action.

— Seriously, man, it's amazing how things always stay the same — he commented after letting out a sigh, running a hand over his face and pushing his hair back, feeling slightly filthy.

Approaching them, Rei clenched his fist, pulled it back, and gained momentum, putting all his speed into his punch, which landed directly on the first man's face.

The punch was so strong that the man's face seemed to cave in, and he was thrown far away from his companion, collapsing unconscious on the ground. A sharp scream echoed through the area, leaving everyone, including the elves, with stunned expressions.

When the fat man saw his friend sprawled on the ground, he looked at the boy's face in terror, and in a desperate reaction, he began apologizing for the comments he had made. The man barely lifted his head, using a trembling, hesitant voice to miserably plead for mercy.

As soon as he received the apology, the boy let out a laugh and looked at the man with an expression that seemed to say: "You're next, asshole."

The voice that cut through the man's words immediately carried a cold undertone, accompanied by a look of contempt.

The boy took a few steps forward, and even with his hand drenched in blood, he gained momentum again, reinforcing his punch with even greater force than before.

Upon impact, several of the man's front teeth shattered easily and he was sent flying, landing unconscious next to his companion.

Rei was somewhat surprised by his own strength, but didn't show it. He simply wiped the blood off his hands using the bottom of his shirt.

"Shit... My strength has increased drastically. I can even feel the difference in my blows. I highly doubt this would have happened before. The Strength attribute really helps a lot."

With everything settled, the boy turned his attention to the beastman beside him, leaving behind a few unpleasant thoughts.

— You see? Easy, isn't it? — he declared calmly, his gaze fixed on Kazuki.

— If you want a tip, next time, just punch them in the face. Talking doesn't work with people like that. I'm used to dealing with this kind of crap. Sometimes violence is the best answer, you know? So don't overthink it. Just go for it and wreck them — he added, a confident smile on his face.

Before Kazuki could respond, the boy continued, taking a few steps forward: — Damn, man, I just got hit with a serious hunger. Let's go to the cafeteria and leave these guys on the floor.

"I don't know why I'm still surprised. I was already planning to beat those guys up, Rei, you didn't need to step in. You really must enjoy this kind of thing."

Kazuki thought, saying nothing, simply following the student from behind.

A little before losing consciousness, one of the men Rei had struck groaned in pain, catching the attention of people nearby.

— Bastard, you'll pay for this.

...

[Early Afternoon]

Upon arriving at the cafeteria, it became clear that the place was an open area, nothing too different from a school cafeteria; with countless tables arranged in horizontal rows, accompanied by wooden seats that matched the dining tables.

Despite the ordinary appearance of the hall, most of the seats and tables were occupied, and the place seemed constantly chaotic due to the numerous people moving back and forth at all times.

Observing the situation, the boy decided to sit in the back, in a more secluded spot where only a few individuals were seated.
