CHAPTER 10

010 Training Effect! Teacher Su's Assessment Requirements (10/10)

Two days of intense training passed swiftly.

The results were promising Ralts had not only adapted to Qin Yun's commands but also demonstrated rapid improvement in combat efficiency. Initially, Qin Yun had planned to return on Sunday evening, but given the progress, he decided to return to school early on Monday morning.

Qin Yun had made up his mind to request a leave of absence.

While Jiang Cheng No. 3 High School provided a solid academic foundation, the curriculum primarily focused on theoretical knowledge rather than practical combat training. If Qin Yun simply aimed to pass the college entrance exams, secure a place in a reputable Pokémon university, and compete in official tournaments, then staying in school wouldn't be an issue.

But Qin Yun's ambitions went far beyond that. He wasn't content with being an ordinary trainer he aimed to become a champion-level powerhouse, someone who could stand alone against an entire nation.

For such a goal, wasting time in a conventional classroom setting was not an option. Training in the wild would be far more beneficial.

Upon arriving at school, Qin Yun made his way directly to the homeroom teacher's office.

Seated at her desk, Su Leyan wore a neatly pressed professional suit, her focus locked on the documents she was reviewing.

Su Leyan had graduated as a top student from Jiangda University. She had chosen to teach at Jiang Cheng No. 3 Middle School shortly after her graduation, and this was now her third year as an instructor.

"Teacher Su."

Qin Yun had always held a positive impression of her. She was strict yet fair, and her dedication to her students made her an outstanding teacher.

"Qin Yun, you're quite lucky you managed to obtain the only Pokémon with mid-level potential this year."

Su Leyan's tone carried a hint of genuine happiness as she put down the documents in her hand.

She was well aware of the importance of a trainer's first Pokémon. For most students, obtaining a Pokémon with even minor competitive potential was rare. The fact that Qin Yun had secured a Ralts, a species known for evolving into the highly formidable Gardevoir or Gallade, was indeed fortunate.

"Just luck, really."

Qin Yun smiled modestly.

"You're too humble. Sometimes, luck is part of a trainer's strength. Your ability to bond with Pokémon and your battle intuition have always been exceptional."

"Honestly, I was worried that failing to get a strong Pokémon would be a major setback for you. But it looks like fate was on your side after all."

As a teacher, Su Leyan had witnessed countless students have their dreams crushed simply because they received Pokémon with no battle potential. The fact that Qin Yun had not only avoided this fate but also gained a Pokémon with solid growth potential reassured her.

"So, tell me, what brings you here?"

Su Leyan's sharp gaze settled on Qin Yun, her lips curving slightly. She could already guess why he was visiting.

"As expected of Teacher Su, always perceptive."

"Cut the flattery, kid. Just say it."

She crossed her arms, already anticipating trouble.

Qin Yun didn't hesitate.

"I'd like to request a month-long leave."

"I refuse."

Her response was immediate, firm, and unwavering.

However, instead of reacting with disappointment, Qin Yun simply stood there, unfazed. This caught Su Leyan's attention.

"Huh? No protest? No argument?"

She raised an eyebrow.

"I expected you to say no."

Qin Yun shrugged, as if he had anticipated the rejection from the start.

"Then why ask in the first place?"

Su Leyan rolled her eyes. This kid was too smart for his own good.

"Because I'm confident I can convince you."

Qin Yun's tone was calm, composed almost as if he had already won.

"Oh? Now I'm curious. What makes you so confident?"

A smirk played on Su Leyan's lips.

"My confidence lies in her."

Qin Yun retrieved a Poké Ball from his belt. With a single press, the sphere expanded to full size.

"Ralts."

Su Leyan's expression shifted slightly as she muttered the Pokémon's name under her breath.

As the homeroom teacher, she was well aware of what Pokémon each student had received. In fact, she had spent the weekend reviewing the class roster, strategizing personalized training plans for those with promising Pokémon while preparing guidance for those who had unfortunately received weak or non-battle-oriented species.

Her goal was to help every student find the right path, whether as a trainer or in another Pokémon-related profession. She understood all too well that not everyone could become an elite trainer.

For some students, chasing unrealistic dreams could lead to a lifetime of struggle. While exceptions existed cases where Pokémon with seemingly low potential evolved into formidable battlers the odds were slim, and the sacrifices required were immense.

"Come on out, Ralts!"

A bright flash of light erupted from the Poké Ball, and in an instant, Ralts appeared.

"Lalu!"

As soon as she materialized, Ralts immediately leaped into Qin Yun's arms, nuzzling against him affectionately.

Su Leyan's eyes widened slightly.

She knew Ralts' nature very well. The species was known for being timid and hesitant around strangers, often requiring extensive bonding before they fully trusted their trainers.

For Qin Yun's Ralts to behave so affectionately, as if she had already formed an unbreakable bond with him, was highly unusual.

The strongest Gardevoir in the Dragon Kingdom belonged to Senior Diantha, the Champion of the Kalos Region, and even her Ralts had taken months to warm up to her.

"This… is unexpected."

Su Leyan's voice carried genuine surprise.

She had initially planned to offer guidance on how Qin Yun could build trust with his Ralts, but judging from this scene, that advice was completely unnecessary.

Qin Yun gently stroked Ralts' head. The Pokémon squirmed slightly at the attention from Su Leyan and the surrounding students, burying herself deeper in Qin Yun's embrace.

Her timid nature was still there she was only this comfortable when she was with Qin Yun.

"It's a bond worth envying."

Su Leyan sighed. She had once attempted to train a Ralts herself but had ultimately failed to earn its trust.

"Teacher Su, my Ralts may still be in the entry-level stage, but she can already hold her own against other beginner-tier Pokémon. In fact, she's capable of defeating them."

The past two days of training had been intense, and last night, Ralts had successfully taken down an entry-level Pidgey.

Moreover, her aptitude for learning new moves was exceptional. Not only had she mastered Psybeam, but she could already execute Shadow Ball with surprising proficiency.

From here, further improvement would require continuous battle experience.

"I can see that you've trained her well. However, even if your Ralts is strong for her level, I still won't approve your leave."

"Teacher Su…"

"Unless you pass my test."

Qin Yun's eyes narrowed.

"What test?"

"This Friday, we're hosting the Six-School Joint Tournament. If you can place in the top 16, I'll grant you a month-long leave."

The Six-School Joint Tournament was a major event involving all high schools in Jiang Cheng except for Jiang Cheng No. 1 High School. It was a proving ground where students competed for rankings and recognition.

"Top 16?"

Qin Yun considered the challenge for a moment.

Then, a confident grin spread across his face.

"Deal. I accept."

After all, his system had a feature that multiplied competition rewards a hundredfold.

And besides…

He wasn't aiming for the top 16.

He was going for the championship.
